Yes, the blades are removable. **Q: will it work for oranges or harder stuff easily?** A: well I slice raw potatoes and onions...ripe tomatoes are too soft but the harder ones slice....all I can say is I love it **Q: Would this be good for shredding potatoes for hash browns and shredding blocked cheese?** A: Yes but you would need to get the 55200AN-1 (3/16") or -2 (5/16") **Q: Are the blades supposed to wobble? They seem loose even though the screws are tight. Also, one blade rubs agains the safety guard.
