Mainly to hold misc (gloves, hats, water temp items for long trips etc) and to keep the pup from jumping back and forth when parked. Fit my Ridgeline but only as pictured in #2 & #3. Was a little smaller that i'd hoped too. The #1 & #4 pics show an item that does not seem stretchy and has different hooks that 2&3 and what I actually got.
