I lean towards traditional pocket knives as well as classier modern ones (not really into the black tactical Rambo ones myself), and this book is exactly what I was looking for. Has everything from the history of classic and modern companies, the models/patterns and their history, blade types and uses, sharpening advice, handle/scale materials, steel types, Damascus, etc you name it, it’s in here. You’ll learn a lot of interesting history (who knew the large elephant toenail blades were used for cutting thick rope?). I think that’s the most fun part of the book, is learning the history and purpose of why each type of knife was invented, it will have you looking at every knife from now on like an engineer. Tons of information about traditional and modern pocket knives, from the old to the new. A classy gentleman’s (or gentlewoman, of course) pocket knife book, just as it’s titled. As someone else mentioned, leave this on a coffee table and you’ll have people reading it that don’t even own a pocket knife, it’s that great of a book. The photos are professional and will leave you literally drooling over each page. I can tell a lot of work went into this book. If you love pocket knives, or know someone that even remotely likes them, you have to get this book. It’s the Bible of pocket knives.
