Not at all! If you follow the directions and put enough coats on it will lay like a single stage and have a topcoat that is glossy like it is clear coated **Q: When can sand between coats** A: I don't remember sanding between coats. The paint held up extremely well. Now that the boat is out of the water, I can see that. **Q: Does it withstand heat? Can i use it on my manifold & risers** A: This is the paint Mercury uses on their parts at the factory, just in aerosol application. The manifolds, risers, and elbows on a boat that runs water through the exhaust should never get hot enough to damage the paint. If they do get that hot you have much more serious problems than paint.
