But I am quite pleased with it. It is the only color-matched option for my Eljer toilet. (It is not an exact match, but it is 200% better than white.) People complained of it being weak plastic, but I weigh 230 pounds and sit on the lid with confidence; it does not buckle or even bend. I have been forewarned about the hinge pin issue, so I will just keep my eyes open for that each time I clean. My only complaint is that it is much thinner than the original, so you sit rather low. The original Eljer had a seat about 1/2-inch thick and sat on bumpers were at least 1/4-inch thick. This one is only about 3/8 of an inch thick and does not have any bumpers to speak of. Thank you. ### ⭐ Terrible design and customer service *by on Reviewed in the United States April 14, 2025* I rarely write reviews anymore, but this product deserves one star. The reviewers who write about the hinges breaking are correct; the hinge is designed incredibly badly and the company clearly does not care to fix it.My toilet seat loosened after about 4 to 5 months, and I did not think at first there was anything I could do about it. However, after about a month or so the entire lid came off, which actually proved beneficial. I found hidden underneath it was a little plastic pin. It turns out there are two little pins that connect the lid and toilet seat to the hinges—one pin for each hinge. They can easily fall out, and then the toilet seat comes apart. It is a bizarre design for several reasons, but among them is that there is nothing to stop the pins from coming out as you use the toilet over time. Undoubtedly this explains why so many people are experiencing broken hinges.The good news is that if you are willing to get your fingers dirty you can reinsert the pins into the hinge, toilet seat, and lid, and get the toilet working again. Mine now is fine, but I would not recommend others buying this toilet seat. I would get one that works like a normal toilet seat, and stays in one place for years without needing to be fixed every 4 to 5 months.
