I wasn't excited about opening it because, based on other reviews, I expected a low quality, chintzy, lightweight product with an eyesore of a welding job. I'm very particular about things so going on what other reviewers had written, I was certain the messy welding job they described would really bother me. Still, I had purchased this because of the low price to tide me over until I found a paper towel holder that I really liked. Upon opening the box, I was startled by how substantial this item is. It isn't chintzy in the least. The base is very weighty, which will keep it steady when ripping towels off the roll. The finish is absolutely beautiful, super shiny, and flaw free. Assembly was a snap. You just screw the three pieces together. However, due to the fact that the pieces screw together, I expected it to a bit loose and wobbly once assembled. NOPE! Once screwed together, this piece is solid! I like this so much, I'm ordering a second one. This is a great item. The finish is beautiful, the base is weighty, and the item is sturdy and functional. I'm really happy with this purchase and won't be looking for a different model to replace it. As for the weld on the top that so many people complained about, no, it's not the neatest welding job in the world. However, the metal is so shiny that with all the light that reflects off of this thing, the weld isn't noticeable unless you're looking for it. Also, if it really bothers you, you can simply omit the addition of the top final. Like I said, anything like that usually bothers the heck out of me, and my eye always goes right to any flaw. That is not the case with this product. It looks great in my kitchen and it was a total steal for the very low price. I love the shiny finish and the clean design and the quality of this product.
