These positive ions make breathing a lot more difficult because it reduces our capability of taking in oxygen. In humid air the negative ions are depleted, which have the effect of relieving allergies from hay fever, bronchial asthma, and other respiratory problems. The positive ions cling to the water particles, which affect the asthmatic person’s breathing. The more water particles in the air, the less oxygen particles are able to fill the air so ionic dehumidifier will balance that out by taking away the humid air that restores the negative ions that makes the air clearer for us all. **Q: Are there any consumable parts on this device that need to be regularly replaced?** A: There a no consumable parts! It does what it says it will do! Great buy! **Q: Does the fan keep going after target humidity has been reached?** A: My experience is that as soon as the machine is full of water it and the fan stops. Say if I aired the rooms for 1hr in winter, do I have to run it for days on end afterwards?** A: I would keep windows closed when the dehumidifier is running as that would stop more moisture from entering the room.However when its not running, of course you can open the windows (that's what we do) as the air from outside will naturally drop the humidity as well.You only need to run it as long as you need, for example, in Winter I tend to put it on a 2 or 4 hr timer so that it draws the moisture from the windows, that seems to be enough. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great product *by S***H on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 July 2023* Fantastic product. I did a lot of research and eventually decided on a desiccant dehumidifier from Ecoair. I decided to go for Ecoair's DD128 due to its new design which looks rather nice. My house is very damp with humidity reaching 90%! I put this brand new DD128 in my kitchen when the humidity was 92% and I cannot believe it, after 3 hours on the high mode, it warmed up the kitchen from 16 degrees and humidity at 92% to 20 degrees and the humidity 76%. This is amazing, even my old Delonghi cannot do this! I left it on high for a couple of days to get the humidity level down to 60% and switched it to the Auto mode.Now, on Auto setting, I save energy by 50% and the humidity in the kitchen is well maintained at about 60%. So it now consumes 330 watt per hour but I notice that the unit does not consume 330 watt all the time, sometimes it goes down to under 40 watt. So I called Ecoair to ask them why this is the case and they explained that the unit is intelligently detecting the humidity and temperature and only consumes 330 watt when it needs to (ie the humidity is creeping up) and may even switch to the high mode if the humidity suddenly climbs up to very high levels like before and then goes back down to a low 40 watts when humidity level is maintained at a nice comfortable level under 60%. This is a god-send for me, I can now just leave it running on Auto without worrying too much about changing the settings. I was advised by Ecoair to put the dehumidifier in the wettest area of my house and this is actually the entrance hall to my house, not the kitchen. So now I leave it in the entrance hall (where I now put my laundry rack) and leave my kitchen door ajar when I am not cooking to let the dehumidifier suck out humidity from my kitchen, which is the place I use most during the day.This is one of the most valuable investment I have made in a long time, now that my humidity level is controlled, I am seeing mould and condensation on my walls and windows as a thing of the past!
