I'd suffered through less expensive IR thermometers that always seemed to come up short. This one was a little more expensive, but I'm glad I got it. It seems to be accurate and reads fast -- in several modes. And rugged. Two things I've used it for recently: -- 3D printing. Really nice for checking the temperature of your build surface -- rising temperature as you prepare to print and then checking as it cools to you'll have an easier time removing your model. As an example of the first -- when the printer readouts and printing software both report 65C, the Fluke agrees with that for the center, but on the edge of the print area, the temp is on 50C. If I have a small model to print that's not a problem. But if I have a large model, that tells me to wait for the whole plate to get up to temp. -- My boss and I were talking one day. He lives in a farmhouse that is at least 150 years old and he was concerned about heat leaks around his windows, doors, chimney. So when we were having a cold spell I loaned him the Fluke for the weekend. He was happy to find that reading on the outside of the house, he had no hot spots, and reading on the inside, he had no cold spots.

Purchased this for general diy tasks, from measuring engine exhausts, electrical components, tire temperatures and lots of other items too numerous to list. Durable, accurate, and very intuitive. Has a quality feel to it. Used this item to determine my 22 year old catalytic converter was still working fine. That one task made the purchase worth every penny. One of those items I should have gotten many years ago.

Easy to use. Measurements appear accurate. I like the idea that this unit uses a single AA Battery, whereas, some of these devices require a nine volt battery. Seems to be of typical Fluke drop protected quality. I like it.

If you are looking for an IR thermometer, don't think twice. Just get a Fluke. I returned a couple less expensive inferior products to my local hardware and big box store, before deciding to just spend a little extra and get a Fluke. You can FEEL the quality that Fluke is known for when you are holding this device. It is well built, feels good to hold, solid materials. The backlight and audible tones are great to have, but it is also great to have to option to turn them both off if you want! This item has just that! You really can't go wrong with this one, don't settle for something cheaper, just to save a few bucks, you will not regret purchasing a Fluke instead!

My history with Fluke meters goes back a long time. Like Snap-On tools, they're my go-to brand when reliability in the field counts. They do so well that I've not had to buy or replace any in years. So I was interested in the midrange Fluke 62max as a basic thermometer, v a cheaper brand claiming the same features, partly out of curiosity -- Has the quality held up over the years? The first unit delivered was DOA -- would not respond to the trigger, despite swapping in several batteries. Not a good start. A replacement was quickly shipped, and this one seems to work as expected. The 62max is a literal point-and-shoot tool that gives confirmable and repeatable results, once you set it up. The calibration agreed with other instruments, and things like c/f, min/max alarms, and ems are adjustable, The problem is making adjustments without watching random u-toob videos, since the operator's manual is a point-and-grunt, non-effort to communicate. After pages of noninformative legalese written in a myriad of languages, there are zero words of operating instructions -- only unannotated cartoons. How to access the adjustments menu is never mentioned. A real subminimal effort from a company that overall, makes good stuff. How embarrassing for Fluke!

Fluke has always sold good reliable meters and tick sticks so I wanted to try this for hvac work. It’s fast and accurate. Works great highly recommended

I needed an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the brick floor in my new Alfa Brio pizza oven. I was leery of many of the cheap plasticky models and decided to go with one from a reputable manufacturer of test equipment. Fluke is a well-respected brand used by electricians and hvac specialists, so I believe it is a brand you can trust. It definitely feels like a quality device that will give years of good and reliable service. For a good pizza crust, the bricks on the oven floor needs to be hot (~700 deg F) and the best way to be sure is to measure with an infrared thermometer. I am very glad I didn't go cheap and bought the Fluke 62. You get what you pay for, and Fluke doesn't disappoint.
