can i fit a laptop WITH a portable monitor that's like half inch thick?

The case is over 3 inches deep on the inside. The shoulder strap does not come with the case. I went to Lowes bought strap connecting hardware and used my strap from my old case. In the couple months since I purchased it has traveled in my car floorboard, as well as plane flying to S. America, and on the floor of the bus for a 12-hour trip across Colombia. This is a 5-star product made in the USA.
