Magister Hydraulics Log Splitter Hydraulic Cylinder 5" bore x 24" stroke

It fit my pops log splitter with no issues. We cycled it roughly 10 times before I realized the hydraulic tank was nearly empty. Once full, it transitioned smoothly from retracted to full extension after a few cycles. The only issue I have is that it may be a little to big for the pump and valve on our splitter as it moves slowly. Slower than the leaky POS that came off the tool. Either way we have a working splitter that doesn’t leak oil like Exxon Valdez.. Lol. Thanks. I would buy this cylinder again as it looks to be of good quality. UPDATE: 4-3-23 It has been a little over 2 years since we purchased this cylinder. I had the opportunity to run this log splitter again this weekend.. It still runs great, my pops has no complaints what so ever. it is still slow as stated above, but it has Zero leaks. This cylinder still looks the same as when it came out of the box.. the paint hasn't faded even with it sitting in the Hot Southwest sun for entirety of it's life.. I would definitely buy this cylinder again if we should ever need another one......

Works for me very well

We managed to use the double action hydraulic cylinder connected to a Vevor Electric pump successfully. We are very comfortable with the quality of this cylinder and the price is very reasonable. We strongly recommended it!

Purchased this to replace a gutless leaky ram I had installed on my skid steer splitter that we built in my shop. This thing is no joke splits threw 36” twisted oak rounds like the are butter. I put a removable 6-way on my wedge for smaller chunks and found out real quick where the weak points of my splitter were(it tore my wedge that’s 1” thick by 6” right in half). After taking it back into the shop and doing some more welding and bracing to it this thing is unstoppable. Not the fastest in the world but you’ll have that with a 5” barrel. What it lacks in speed it makes up for in power. This thing would push a big round threw a 12-way wedge if the steel could handle the pressure

Cylinder appeared to be of high quality however I had to make some modifications to both the cylinder and my log splitter to facilitate installation. Cylinder operated well and had no problem with splitting difficult logs. I would buy this product again.

Put this on a 1970s horizontal splitter with a few modifications. Works fine. Thought I broke it at first but it just needed to cycle about 20 times before it completely filled with fluid. I'm not a hydraulic mechanic.
