Power Trains Auto Loader City

We got this for our 5 year old son this Christmas, who had been asking for an electric train for months. After researching "real" electric trains, we found them very expensive for the use we expected our son to get out of them (we were pretty sure he would play with it for a few days at best, and then it would start collecting dust). So we chose to try this set, together with Power Train Starter Set.The set exceeded our expectations: it comes with a lot of rails and some switches, so you can build pretty interesting layouts. It comes with an auto loader (which he did not much care for) and some fairly intricate trains (one has four little cars on it, one has a little sliding door, etc.). The tracks can be a little tricky to put together at first, but he quickly learned that if you jiggle them a bit from side to side, they connect fairly easily. What is hard for him (and for adults, frankly) it to connect the train cars. Maybe they can device some other system for this that does not require pushing together two little curvy pieces. Not really a big deal, since you don't have to connect them very frequently. I should add that he mostly just runs the engines without cars attached, since it is easier to put them on the track that way. I did notice that longer trains will derail on occasion.Overall, we are very happy we chose this set. Our son was totally delighted and has played with them quite a lot over the last few days. The quality exceeded our expectations and we think this set is amazing value. It was fun to also have the other set, if only to have two engines going at the same time (though this other Starter Set is not as great a value as this set in our opinion).

We got this train set for my 4 yr old son. It's his very first train set and he loves it. He can't get enough of it. It's just right for beginners. It's not hard to put together and there aren't too many small pieces.

Fell apart after one week of use

My oldest got this for Christmas and couldn't wait to put it together. He loves it and it went together really well. His face lights up every time he turns the trains on and he sees the tunnels and lights on the train come on too. The loader works great and its furthering his love for trains.

I have two boys; a 10 year old and a 5 year old. Big brother is VERY in to trains and has a rather expensive and fragile N-scale model train collection we keep in the garage. Little brother is not supposed to play with it but is very jealous of the train set. He wanted his own train set that looks like a "real train" and asked for it for his birthday. I was so happy to find these Power Trains! They are affordable and they have realistic features- great detail for the price. When he opened the gift he exclaimed that he now has his own train set and told his big brother that it is very special and we have to ask him before we can touch it. We have put the track together a few times but mostly my son just plays with the engines and cars around the house, not even using the track! (Big brother likes to play with them too.) He is proud to have his very own model train set, and I am not worried about him breaking something rather expensive!

I really loved the idea of the Power Trains. I was excited because the trains look fairly realistic and I thought my son would love them. I found that connecting the trains was quite difficult, even for an adult. I don't think my 4-year old son will be able to connect them himself. I also thought the auto loader was a bit difficult and it doesn't stay connected very well to the track. I like that the trains look more realistic than other train sets for kids.

Just the right combination of ease of assembly and fun. "Wow" was his first impression after unwrappingand played with it exclusively the rest of the day. Car couplers were difficult for adult hands but the child had no problem.

i'm not already test the train but i see the box is in bad conditions. The first impression is like it's a used item (i bought a new item).

Working right out of box. It is a very nice set. my grandson loves them. yes I would by it again. Excellent starter train set.

This is great value for money. It was bought for a young lad with ADHD. He has played and played with it. Yes it is plastic, but it is quite flexible, so the track has been stood on and not broken. The car loader is fantastic. The points work brilliantly. Other than the train being knocked off the track it has never once come off on its own. I can only assume others have not got the knack of getting the track to clip together properly (there is a knack to it).I would highly recommend this to anyone. Even our 20 year old son spent time playing with it!.We did have to make a slight modification to the engine. There is a piece of plastic on the bottom of the battery compartment that kept fouling on the points and stopping the train. We shaved that off with a knife and off it went.

Rubbish trains didn’t stay on the track. Sent it to charity shop.
