The quality of the formula feels good overall. Like many mineral sunscreens, it is a bit thicker than chemical alternatives, but it spreads reasonably well once applied carefully. It also includes CeraVe’s signature ceramides, which help support skin moisture and barrier protection. In terms of skin comfort, it feels gentle and non-irritating. It worked well on sensitive areas without causing burning or discomfort. This product is excellent. I noticed a difference in my skin very quickly, even after the first use. I really like CeraVe products, and this one provides excellent hydration and sun protection. However, in my case, it leaves a noticeable white cast on my skin and has a scent. If you can tolerate the white cast, this product is definitely worth trying because the moisturizing and protective benefits are excellent.

While I love lightweight chemical sunscreens, they sometimes sting my eyes when I sweat, so I picked up this CeraVe 100% Mineral Sunscreen for days when I need a heavy-duty physical block. Here is how it performs in the real world: The Protection: With Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide at SPF 50, the actual sun protection is bulletproof. I haven't gotten any color on my face even after spending hours out in direct sunlight. It also doesn't irritate my skin or sting my eyes at all. The Texture: This is a very thick cream. Unlike watery lotions, you have to be intentional about applying this in thin layers, otherwise it can feel heavy and slightly greasy sitting on top of your skin. The White Cast: This is the main reason for four stars instead of five. Because it is a 100% mineral formula, it leaves a very distinct white cast. You have to spend a solid minute thoroughly massaging it into your face to sheer it out, and even then, it can leave a pale, chalky finish, especially if you have a deeper skin tone. Verdict: If you have sensitive skin or eyes and specifically need a physical mineral block, this is a highly effective, affordable option. Just be prepared to spend a little extra time rubbing it in front of the mirror before you head outside!" I like the rest of Cerave's line up, I use a ton of their other products. Their Skin Renewing Night Cream is probably one of the best moisturizers on the market at this moment and can go toe to toe with some of the big expensive brands you'd find at Sephora. I use their Diabetics Dry Skin Cream all the time and it's positively divine, so much so that I haven't bothered to test out other brands. It's just that good. This? This thing? I genuinely can't believe this is amongst their other products. I read a couple of reviews saying it leaves a white cast and I, looking for a way to make my fair medium skin tone lean more towards the fair end thought "hey, maybe it will lend me just enough to lighten me up a hair." No. I only used a tiny dab, not even the full amount you're SUPPOSED to use on your face and not only did it leave me with a white cast but with a blue-ish grey-ish cast that genuinely made me look like I had died about 6 hours ago. UNBELIEVABLY bad cast. And I'm a white person! If that leaves a cast that intense on me, I can't even imagine what kind of cast it would leave on someone darker than me! I get it, this is probably purely a physical sunscreen, its probably all zinc or mineral or something like that in there and the point is that is creates a literal physical barrier so that the uv light can't penetrate through or it bounces off. You can't have a physical barrier without it existing, that's literally impossible. HOWEVER. The fact that it's THAT bad of a blue grey cast??? What are we doing here?????

First mineral sunscreen that doesnt dry me out! Skin feels hydrated all day and doesnt feel like it compromises my other products. Other mineral sunscreens seem to always absorb all the moisture in my skin, despite using a ton of hydrating products underneath. This is fantastic for my rosacea prone skin. Only downside is the slight smell for the first hour or so after applying. Kinda smells like gasoline, but that's from the zinc. It does go away at least. This does also leave a white cast, which I am okay with since I am a red head with skin the color of paper and it kinda just looks like a bb cream on me. But I could see that being an issue for anyone who is blessed with the ability to tan/deeper skintones.

I do like most CeraVe products, but this is a reminder to myself and everyone else to make sure you do adequate research on how products like sunscreen work and differ from each other. Since this is a mineral sunscreen, it leaves a very obvious white cast to have a physical barrier between your skin and the sun and reflect the uv rays. Unfortunately for me I just looked like a ghost, so I definitely wouldn't recommend this for anyone with darker skin. Another unfortunate thing, this sunscreen is pretty thick, and made my skin feel greasy rather than hydrated. I had to apply way less than recommended so it didn't feel so heavy on my face throughout the day. As a mineral sunscreen, its fine. But if your skin isn't very sensitive, I'd suggest looking into a chemical sunscreen instead if you want something lightweight and has no white cast.

I’ve been using the CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 for more than 2 years, and I’m really impressed. I have sensitive, combination skin and struggle to find sunscreens that don’t break me out or cause irritation.Its lightweight and creamy, and although it does leave a slight white cast at first, it blends in well after a few minutes especially if I apply it over moisturizer. I appreciate that it's fragrance-free and packed with ceramides and niacinamide, which help keep my skin feeling calm and hydrated. It wears nicely under makeup and doesn’t make me greasy throughout the day. I also love that it’s a 100% mineral sunscreen, which feels gentler on my skin compared to chemical options.

This is a mineral sunscreen, so it should leave a white cast. It's annoying that most sunscreens advertise as not doing this, but it's part of how they work, unless you use a chemical sunscreen. On that subject, this formula does use a chemical sunscreen in addition to the zinc. This is really common. It's not the worst, nor is it the best. I gave it 2 stars because it causes my skin to get dry and flaky. It's so thick and oily going on, but after using it daily for a couple of weeks (and washing it off in the afternoons or evenings) I started have flaky skin on my arms and legs and face. I have not had any sort of sunburn and using this was the only skincare change I made. After I stopped using it, it went away. It didn't itch or have any irritation, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I use a different brand now without any issues.

Can never go outside without it.

I was hesitant to purchase this one due to comment reading, and now I only regret not buying earlier!!!! What a perfect product! Not sticky, matte finish, not drying my face, super lightweight after a glimpse of time of application. My skin feels great not only on my face but also on my neck - where I usually don’t feel well upon sunscreen application. Furthermore, where is the white cast???? I’m shocked to see that my half face with this product had no visible differently compared to the other bare face or after applying a tinted sunscreen that is darker than my skin tone. In summary, it is a perfect mineral sunscreen for daily use as it is not water resistant, which can be easily take off by water. It is probably one of the best mineral sunscreen I can get in Germany. One huge plus of 100% mineral sunscreen in general is that it should not cause yellow stains on white clothes.
