The chipmunks have left the property!!
I was very skeptical of these kinds of products but I was desperate, as my last car was TOTALED by mice and chipmunks only a month ago. The whole ordeal was a nightmare and I needed a solution that worked. I tried peppermint oil bags first and still saw the chipmunks running around the property and around the cars cars as usual, hopping right up under the engine like the little pests they are. Very annoying because those scented bags are expensive and were clearly not working at all. I also put used cat litter underneath the car where I parked and guess what the little buggers did? They brought some if it INSIDE the engine area as nesting material - gross, and another failure. So I bought and very easily installed one of these devices in mine and my husband's cars and walked away not feeling super hopeful about it, but ready to give them an honest try. I wasn't really thinking about it for a week or two until it hit me - I had not seen a SINGLE chipmunk on my entire property since I installed them! I typically see 2-3 running around the front of the house, the back patio, and the vegetable garden at any time. But I kid you not they are GONE. They packed up and moved out! I cannot believe these things actually worked! I am in absolute awe. I bought another one for my garden. shed and I bought the plug in one for my tool shed. I will diligently be checking these spaces and the cars once a month to replace batteries and investigate for rodent evidence to make sure they are still working. I'm so relieved to not have to worry about rodents for a while and I am very hopeful that these are a long term solution. Thank you so much!

Fixed my squirrel issues
After spending literally thousands taking my car almost weekly to the mechanic to fix the wiring chewed on by squirrels, these battery powered units stopped the nonsense. Highly recommend!

Update to changes
So, based on the mostly positive reviews I decided to give these a try. I even went above and beyond to prepare my car, as I had the engine compartment professionally cleaned to get rid of any trace of prior rodent activity. I placed one of these in the engine compartment using the ties, and the other sits in the cubby near the gear shift. For the first couple of months, I didnโt see any activity. However, one day I am driving and my odometer stops working. Then the check engine light comes on followed by the steering indicator light. And about the same time I lose power steering. Took it to our mechanic and sure enough, rodents had chewed through several wires causing the problem. Fortunately it only cost $270.00 to fix. I say fortunately, because our Toyota Corolla had $2,500.00 in rodent damage about seven years prior. Needless to say, these Ultrasonic Rat Repellants didnโt do jack! 8/23/22 I have an update and in turn, I am raising my rating. So, after they didn't work as described, I decided to try them with the sound on (in Test mode). And guess what? After 3 weeks of parking it in the same spot, they did not eat the wires again. In fact, I see no evidence of them being in the engine compartment since the last episode. I will continue to use them with the sound on. If they didn't work for anyone else in the Ultrasonic mode, then try them with the sound on. It has worked for me so far.

Easy to Install and Great for Extra Protection
Iโm very pleased with these under-hood rodent repellents. Theyโre compact, easy to install, and the battery-powered design makes them convenient to use without needing to connect to the carโs electrical system. The flashing LED lights are a nice additional feature, and having two units makes it easy to cover more than one vehicle or area.

Easy to set up
So easy to install batteries. Guide is excellent. Once batteries were in, all the test lights did what they were supposed to do. Put one in our attic, one in a kitchen drawer that is a mouse magnet, one in our barbecue and one in a box with a fire pit glass shield on the deck. Just installed them so hope the rodents hate them! Update December 2023. We have used these for a few months now and haven't heard a mouse in the walls or drawers. We've lived in our country house for 45 years and have put up with the awful smell of dead mice, especially in the bathroom walls. Within a month of installing these repellents, the mice apparently have moved on as there are no mouse sounds anywhere. They are advertised for cars, but work for houses, too. They are spendy, but worked for us and are so much better than poison. We are hoping the mice don't get used to them and will continue to go elsewhere.

THEY WORKED... but it took 2 of them in each of our cars
My wife's new car started shuddering and making horrible noises last weekend. We took it to the mechanic and were informed that there was a big rodents next behind her engine and they had chewed through 2 of the wires. I immediately bought this double set of sound makers, 1 for each car. When I installed them, the following morning I looked under the hood... and there were new rat droppings on top of both of our engines, and new leaves debris that the rats had pulled back into our engine compartments. I figured... our cars have large engine compartments, with tons of nooks and crannies. We should probably have 1 on each side of our engine compartments for our cars. I bought a 2nd pair of these. So we each have 1 on the left and the right side of our cars engine compartments. It has now been 4 straight days without ANY signs whatsoever of rodents under our hoods. No droppings, no debris, foilage... nothing. We are extremely happy. Yes... it took having to have 2 of these for each of our cars, but that's a small price to pay to not have to deal with it again. The only annoying thing is that the battery compartment is on the BACK of these units. So in 40 days when I go to put in fresh batteries... I'm going to have to cut the zip ties and completely remove the units. Replace the batteries, then re-zip tie them back in. It would be MUCH nicer if these held the batteries towards the front of the unit, so that the backing could stay secured in place when you swap batteries. But it's a minor inconvenience compared to the benefits.

Dont know how well they work?
Dont know how well they work? They flash lights a lot within in a hour, i used them under hood of vehicle I camped in desert n forest a lot, a couple times in desert in areas with more mice running around the mice still got in my engine n i caught them in there a few times n saw them running around, so dont know how well these worked if it kept them away the other times or not, i also left hood propped open like 3-7 inches n when i heard mice in engine i put engine hood all the way up n a few times the mice still went in there, but they didnt hang out in areas they normally do with hood up like on top of engine n on battery building nests, they went in other hidden places like the sides above tire- but keeping hood up worked in other places real good n mice stayed out I glued magnets on back n put one under hood above engine n glued velcrow on one n put it on side of battery So dont know how well they work They should make one with louder more irritating noises n it might work real good I slept in my vehicle so i could hear when mice were running around in engine at night

Hopeful
Update 1 month later. I left the deterrent under the sink and honestly have not seen a mouse since. Perhaps that one was simply trying to get away? Anyway, as it stands I'm very pleased I was able to have this work and I retract my previous review. I had high hopes for these as I'm tired of traps that don't work and mice coming and going as they please. I wanted them for my RV but put one under the kitchen sink where we seem to have the most trouble. It's been there about a week with brand new batteries and last night apparently a mouse was unbothered by it and resumed it's place in my cleaned out drawer, ruining it yet again. It works like the instructions say in test mode. I bought the 2 pack so that's $53 down the drain. I am beyond disappointed. I'd return them but I threw the box away.

No rat problem since
Okay it is still flashing away after a few months and seems to be working or the cats have picked up their game. Non intrusive in engine bay and cable tied ( zip tied๐ฑ๐ท) to solid panel section.
