Tomlyn High Calorie Nutritional Gel for Kittens (Nutri-Cal) 4.25 oz

Smells bleh but the baby seems to like it! I had to get some added calories in my 3 (almost 4) month old kitty-baby after her spay and this really aided in her recovery. She wasn’t really eating for too long and lost so much weight fast because the intubation was too rough on her throat. This was a great addition and she was good with the texture of this when a lot of other textures was a no go (even churu). The texture was rather thick - like toothpaste but stickier. I placed a dab on my finger and she licked it right up with no problem. A few dabs added much needed calories/nutition during her recovery and was easy on her throat. I did 3-4 fingers 3-4 times a day for a week along with other higher calorie options that she would consume for less than a week and she was recovering beautifully. She had become skin and bones and I was scared for her but this came in clutch. It was actually recommended by ChatGPT so I purchased right away to get to her to gain back her lost weight. Now I give her 3 dabs once a day and it’s still a great addition. She is still in her recovery - 14 days post spay but 7 days post restitch so I still have a week to go. Her eating is mostly back to normal but I feel she still needs the added calories/nutrition so this is some amazing, easy stuff! Not to mention she really seems to like it. This didn’t give her any bathroom/ digestive problems and I did use in addition to new foods to her diet (I had to try different wet foods to see what stuck without transition because.. desperation). For my baby this worked really well but she doesn’t seem to get issues with most foods. I would recommend to try if you need to get some needed calories/nutrition for a kitty that won’t eat. It was necessary for mine and I’m glad she took to it!

My kitten Milo had been through a lot. He had come to me with ringworm and had gotten some kind of uri. He wasn't eating or drinking. I was syringing him water and food. I decided to try this. He was lethargic and I was afraid I was going to lose him. I started him on this and he was so weak I had to syringe it to him at first. Within 24 hrs he was eating this off a spoon and eating. It took 2 more days before he would drink on his own but within 3 days he started gaining weight....eating ....drinking. this helped save his life. Now he begs for it....lol. he loves the taste. I'm so grateful. I will always keep this on hand. Ty so much.

Our cat hasn't been eating enough, so we purchased this gel. As others have said, it is a little messy. And at 25 calories per teaspoon, it's not bad, but I'd prefer something higher calorie for our needs. Our cat does not readily eat this either, so we have to feed it to her in a syringe, which she does not like. This makes a teaspoon a lot to feed her for only 25 calories of benefit. However, she does eat it. That said, we struggled to get her to ingest her liquid iron supplement prescribed by her vet via syringe -- she goes as far as to spit it out -- but giving this gel 4 stars as if we mix the gel and her iron together, she won't spit it out and is therefore getting more of her supplement.

Always worth the $. Wish they had a website to turn to when it comes to questions. Have bought this for many yrs for sick weak kitties. Was introduced to this over 25 yrs ago.

Don't read the ingredients or you won't use it. I keep it on hand because it will quickly replace glucose and even hydrate a sick kitten (cat, dog or puppy) in an emergency rescue situation better than just about anything else. The cat, dog and puppy formulas are not as effective as this one (in my experience) so this is the only one I bother with. They all like the taste.

I have 3 cats, one of whom was a chonky over eater of anything he could fit in his mouth- i've seen this guy ready to throw down when i tried to hide french fries, waffles covered in powder sugar, tomato soup, tortilla chips, hot dogs, almond milk, fried rice, mac and cheese, olives, steamed carrots... You get the idea. A few weeks ago, he began having vomiting spells and diarrhea, so the vet checked him out. After ruling out any viral, bacterial, or parasitic causes- and bc his diet does not strictly adhere to things intended for consumption despite our best, overzealous intentions, we had him do x-rays to confirm he had not, in fact, devoured a rubber band, action figure, fabric swatch, plastic wrapper, small rodent/bug/stray kitten or other such item that might be causing a blockage. The vet said he might have actually consumed something that hadn't sat right, but since passed it, and none of his lab work showed toxicity concerns, so we took him home. The tummy upsets seemed to be over, but he had lost a *lot* of weight. The vet suggested using a caloric booster in his wet food to get him back to a normal range, and mentioned kitten varieties were great. We chose this one bc it costs more than any single food item we would ever buy for ourselves (the cats are king here), and bc it was a vet recommended brand. Fish flavour was the only option, but for a cat who once stole a raw green pepper and consumed half of it before I could intervene, that didn't seem problematic. I did question the gel consistency- but thought it would be easy to mix into the kind of canned food with shreds of meat in gravy. It did not, ftr. It kind of seperated from the gravy, but didn't think it likely to deter him, bc again, *green pepper,*. I put a small amount in he-who-is-no-longer-chonky, but-still-has-a-voracious appetite's dish, and he promptly gave it a sniff and a shove with his paw before attempting to cover it with imaginary cat litter and dumping half onto the floor in the process. No amount of future attempts at disguise or deception could tempt him, or my other two cats, who while not the intended recipients, like to play musical food bowls, as the other's cats bowl (with the same exact amount and brand of food) is always more palatable. Unless this stuff is in it. When this stuff was included, they wouldn't go near it with a ten foot pole made of catnip. I even tried showing the intended cat the tube, to see if the novelty of licking/eating straight from the tube might persuade him, but he actually hissed at it (this likely had more to do with the whooshing air that propelled the gel out of the tube, combined with his highly cantakerous temper, than the gel itself). My cats do eat fish flavoured food on the regular, so i don't know what the deal was. Possibly just disinterest in tubed gel food when they are otherwise well fed (sort of like being offered Ensure while you have a plate full of steak), but three strikes at our zoo.

Purchased for my 20 yr old cat who has been losing weight. She recently had dental surgery which further added to her lack of desire to eat. She doesn’t care for this straight, but she’s also a very picky eater; however, likes it mixed with her soft food. Started with a tiny bit and slowly increased amount. Noted increase in hunger. Asking for more food and more often, which hasn’t happened in a few years! She actually finishing her soft food twice a day and needing a refill, where I’ve been previously tossing her food and replenishing with fresh. Appetite improvement after only a couple of days! She’s definitely put on a bit of weight and seems more energetic (as energetic as a 20 yr old can be). Highly recommended!

this stuff helps with my aging cat the urge to eat meals, if I get her off of it she gets lazy eating her meals.

My cats love it. I have to hide it in my drawers because my cats chewed up my last bottle to hell, trying to eat the gel. Totally destroyed it. Had to buy another one. I guess that means the gel is delicious to cats :)
