Always wanted to learn to play a Tin Whistle
Easy lessons I currently play a Native American Flute and a lot of the Technique is the same. Can't wait until the next St Patrick's Day Festivities.

Great Book, but make sure you get the right version.
This is a nice book of tin whistle (or flute) music. The printing is well done, and the tunes are arranged by difficulty, which is great for newcomers to the whistle. I had only been playing for about a month when I purchased this, and I was afraid it would be too complicated, but it wasn't. (I am about 2/3 of the way through the Bill Ochs Clarke Tin Whistle book, to give you an idea of where I am at. I basically worked my way through that entire book, except for the third octave stuff because I think a high whistle sounds like a dog whistle in the third octave.)My only problem is that I ordered this version twice from amazon, and both times, I got the book without the CD even though the book very clearly shows the CD on the cover. At the time of this review, the actual item description "Ireland's Best Tin Whistle Tunes V1 With Guitar Chords" doesn't mention the CD. I was worried about this, and rightfully so. After two failed attempts with ordering it from amazon, I instead got it from a music store. It cost a few bucks more, but I got the correct version with the CD.The CD is great and really helps with making sure you're getting the timing right, if you don't have the luxury of taking lessons and you're not familiar with the tunes. Also great if you learn by ear. I just wish each track had a pause of 3 seconds or so before the tune started, because it's impossible to cue a track and pick the whistle up before it's already started. Best thing really is to just put the track on repeat and listen through the first time so you can be ready to start the second time if you want to play along. The beginning tunes in this book include the whistle tab, which I personally find slower to read than reading the music, but it's nice for those who aren't completely confident in their note-reading yet.Overall, a great book, with plenty of stuff for beginners and more advanced stuff to keep more advanced players interested. Tin whistle is one of those instruments where you can learn to play decently pretty quickly, but takes years to really master the nuances. I definitely plan on picking up Volume II when I work my way through this one. I also purchased the Slow Airs book as well.

Amazing Book for a Learner
This book progresses from beginner to advanced and enabled me to make a huge improvement in my whistling.A great companion for a full tutoring book.Unfortunately Volume 2 did not follow this pattern but is basically all advanced material arranged by song type.

Get ready to dance to a jig or drop a tear at the sound of an old Irish air.
This is a great book for learning to play the Tin whistle. The first few sections have TAB, which shows you the exact fingering for each chord or note. After a few weeks of practice I covered the Tab and started reading right from the sheet music on the songs I was learning.I really recommend picking a few songs from the beginning sections and learn them pretty good using the TAB and then cover the TAB over like I did and continue to practice the same songs until you can play them pretty well just by reading the sheet music. After the third section everything is just plane sheet music and if you don't get the fingering down you will constantly be going back to the front section of the book to get the fingering positions for the notes. Also, listen to the CD's so you can get a good idea of how many of these songs should sound. I will admit of the 110 songs listed I only knew about 15 - 20, but there are lots and lots of Irish gems in here that are well worth the time and practice to learn and your friend will swear you must have gone off to Ireland for a few months to learn to play such beautiful Irish music. This is a great book, easy to use, and a great addition to my musical book library

Awesome Tin/Penny Whistle Book
I love, love, love this book. It has so many tunes in it that are super fun to play. I'm a professional flutist but love to play penny whistle just for fun. It was an easy switch as the fingerings are similar to flute. Very fun book! I would highly recommend it!

My Favorite Tin Whistle Book So Far
I am a rank beginner whistle player, and this book, with its two CD included, is my favorite so far. I started with The Clarke Tin Whistle by Bill Ochs, and learned the basics. Then, when I wanted more to play, I found this. What fun! I'm not past the beginner section yet, but it's great to be able to play some of my favorite Irish tunes, such as Roddy McCorley, Come to the Hills, The Foggy Dew - all in the beginner section. The earliest sections have both notes and fingerings, for those who use them. I put the CDs on as I drive to and from work to become familiar with songs I don't know, then I'm ready to try to play them when I get home. I'm looking forward to being able to play the more difficult tunes as I get better, and keep working my way through the Bill Ochs book. I think any beginner could start with these two books and have a great start with the tin whistle.

Great fun!
I ordered this because it has the guitar chords and my husband and I have really enjoyed playing together. The tunes are good and even the advanced ones are fairly easy to learn.

Love it
This is a great collection of tin whistle songs. I especially like the fact that guitar chords are included. Guitar chord are a force multiplier.! All Tin Whistle books should also include chords!!!

Disappointed
Basic errors where it shows what fingers to use. I can read music but I feel sorry for someone who doesn't.

Great book, many really good songs
Great book, many really good songs. I only wish that they hand some longer songs instead of 1.30 minutes Max. Definetly worth a purchase for learners.

Tres bon investissement : Je recommande vivement !
