I Love Durian, But This Product Is Disgusting.
I love durian. I like coffee. This product is disgusting. If you want durian flavored coffee, I've had success making my favorite coffee and adding freeze dried durian. The instructions are below. This coffee has a very "off" scent and flavor. It misses the smooth butterscotch nuttiness that is characteristic of durian, and introduces a perfume-y rubbing alcohol characteristic. Have I mentioned that it's disgusting? I gagged. And I LOVE durian. I love all soft durian from Kampung to D24 to Musang King. Fresh durian. Durian caramelized into dodle. In curry. With pulut. In ice cream. I love it all. I love durian, but this particular product is disgusting. This is what I use for my recipe. There's nothing complicated about it. It's just how I normally make coffee plus freeze dried durian. I used 2 heaping spoonfuls of Freeze Dried Durian Powder [1], with 20oz of Starbucks, Dark Roast Iced Coffee, 2oz of whole milk Lactaid, and two spoonfuls of Splenda. The result is a smooth coffee with a fresh durian flavor complimented with hints of bitter and no bite. Basically make your favorite coffee and add freeze dried durian powder. Do Not Use Liquid Durian Extract. It's disgusting. In fact, if I had to guess, this disgusting brand of durian flavored coffee uses a dehydrated form of liquid durian extract.
