Expensive but Worth the Cost
I rarely write reviews, but if this helps someone make the right choice, it’s worth it. My father was recently diagnosed with dementia, and on top of everything else, he developed severe pressure ulcers. They were so painful and discouraging that he began to lose hope. We tried two other cushions with no improvement before finally purchasing this one, even though it was expensive. I am so grateful we did. Within one week we saw improvement, and within a month the ulcers that had been there for months were completely healed. At his appointment, even the doctor was amazed and told my dad to “make this cushion his new best friend.” He also admitted he hadn’t recommended it earlier because the cost isn’t covered by insurance. This cushion gave my dad relief, healing, and a renewed spirit. I’m thankful to the reviewers who encouraged me to buy it, and I hope sharing our experience helps someone else find the same comfort and results.

Comfort is Well Worth The Money
So prior to my ROHO purchase, I've used a thick memory foam cushion at my home and office computer. Because of a medical condition, I lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle but I'm still able to get up and move around my house, go to the store, etc. Then I fell and broke my femur and went to a rehab facility for 2 weeks. After a couple days mostly sitting in a wheelchair, I developed a pressure sore and they provided the ROHO cushion that I ended up purchasing. The ROHO, coupled with Calmoseptine ointment healed the sore. When I came home, we had to spend a bit of money on adjustments to our house to get me situated, so I thought I could get by with just pillows or the foam cushion on my wheelchair. (I did snap a picture of the tag from the ROHO model at rehab just in case.) I was so uncomfortable and so wrong! I bought the ROHO and it came quickly via Amazon so I didn't have to be in pain for much longer. When it arrived, my husband inflated it and I sat down and "thought" because I was sitting on literally...air...that it would be fine. After a couple days, I was still uncomfortable - not as much as before - but couldn't tell if the cushion had the same feel as in rehab. Day by day, I let a little more air out so it actually sunk in a bit, and I feel it's even better than in rehab. You will have to adjust it to what feels best for you! I am working 60 hours a week sitting at my computer and more time in my wheelchair cooking (I am still progressing slowly and not 100% recovered yet) BUT no pressure sores or discomfort. Best of all, ROHO is made in the USA, as I have been trying to contribute to our country's livelihood more than ever. I know I was lucky to have "test-driven" this cushion before purchasing, but in my situation, it was a lifesaver.

Excellent Skin Protection
I am a paraplegic and have been disabled and in a wheelchair since I broke my back in 1980. If you are at risk of skin breakdown (pressure sores), then in my opinion, these ROHO High Profile cushions are the Rolls Royce of wheelchair cushions, and proper inflation of them is the key to their protection. I have been using ROHO High Profile Cushions since 1981, and I have tried other cushions such as Jay, Foam, Gel, etc... and in my opinion, nothing really compares to the ROHO. They are light in weight, and they offer great skin protection, but the big downside is that they are expensive and prone to puncture if not protected and treated properly. My biggest complaints about these cushions are the high price and the moderate durability. These cushions do offer great skin protection, but if you are active and mechanically inclined and work with with metal, wood, tools, or anything sharp or hot that could damage the cushion, then your chance of a puncture is much higher. I highly recommend buying a Heavy Duty, Waterproof Cushion Cover whether you need those qualities or not, because the added protection and longevity that they give the cushion is worth the extra investment. The covers cost about $65, but they give the cushion a much better source of protection than the standard cover. I have seen the cushion life range anywhere from as little as 18 months without the heavy duty cover, to as long as 6+ years with the heavy duty cover. The heavy duty cover does reduce the skin protection a bit, but the cushion is so good that it does not give me any skin breakdown (pressure sore) issues or concerns. They aren't cheap, they aren't bullet-proof, and they certainly aren't perfect, but I honestly don't know of anything better.

Durable!
The roho wheelchair cushion arrived as expected. I've had a few of these over many and they are extremely durable, easy to clean, easy to blow up with the tool that comes with it. For anyone who sits for extended periods of time this helps keep you comfy and helps with NOT getting pressure sores. The only downfall is they are a bit expensive. If you have pets, do your best to keep them off it because it may get a hole (those are a pain to locate/fix).

Great cushion and vendor
This seller was the only vendor that discounted the Rojo cushion I needed to replace, making it more affordable. The cushion is great and is a lifesaver for folks in a wheelchair.

.
I used this while I was in rehab and was excited to be able to order one for use at home. Unfortunately, I’m still struggling with getting the air pressure correct so I don’t feel like I’m sliding off my chair. Comfort wise it’s fantastic - none of that normal pain causing you to constantly shift in your chair or hurts your tailbone. Hoping I can a hand of the correct air pressure or I will have to return it.

Best cushion I've ever used.
I"ve dealt with the problem of pressure sores my whole life; born paraplegic and in and out of chairs all my life. Now in last 5 years, permanently confined. This is the BEST cushion I have ever used. and to me worth the cost. Other air filled and gel filled cushions worked okay, but still always had sores once in a while. Having the 4" height really helps, as I am 180 lbs so really need those 4" to allow enough space to let out enough air so that I really sit IN the cushion, not on it. With less than 4", by the time you get it soft enough to sink comfortably into, your butt is touching the seat top underneath the cushion. Sadly, most insurances won't cover, including Medicare, because it is considered 'luxury' item due to price. Yet, if you get a pressure sore, the insurance company will pay far more in medical costs to treat the sores, instead of paying for the cushion and preventing them in the first place. Sigh... Before you buy, go to the ROHO site, there are many variations of this basic design, do your research. There are multi chamber, recessed, inclined, bi-lateral versions, and different dimensions. Your needs may require a different design, and don't skimp, get the fitted slip cover. It keeps the air bladders from 'spreading' out. The sores I had for months on my butt prior to getting this cushion on the recommendation of my therapist, healed within two weeks. And since then have had NO pressure sores develop. It's an investment in your health; if you can afford it, get a ROHO.
