Not Your Mother's Naturals Protect & Nourish Shampoo & Conditioner

Not Your Mother's is the only brand I will use for my hair. I've used it for 7 years now, and will continue to use as long as they make it. I switch between their sets (depending on weather and respective moisture-needs), but I have a soft spot for this one, especially for summer. I noticed IMMEDIATE increase in silkiness and softness upon using, and it smells lovely. I wash my hair once per week, shampoo/rinse twice, leaving it on the scalp for a minute after lathering the second time, then rinse and condition the roots up to 5-7 inches away from scalp, before adding a tiny tsp of oil to wet hair after shower to coat/protect roots . This is the best shampoo/conditioner/hair brand and I will be a lifetime customer. For reference, I have medium thick hair.

For a long time, I struggled with scalp buildup and loose, frizzy curls. After discovering in July that my curl shampoo and conditioner that I'd been using for the past year had silicones in it the whole time, I felt betrayed, invigorated, and motivated to rejuvenate my scalp, so I went on a research rampage to find a replacement. This involved long days spent hunched over curlsbot and r/curlyhair and googling related ways to fix myself and become more excellent and beautiful. Maybe I was going through some other stuff this summer and it intersected. Who knows? Anyway, this is the one I landed on because I like apple scents. A lot of other reviewers across the internet noted that the scent was quite strong, and for some people it was strong enough for them to stop using it, so I was a bit wary of just buying it online rather than going to the store to find it and smell it there first. But in the end, impatience won out, so on the day I got paid from my new job that I started after the breakup, I instantly bought this and eagerly awaited its arrival. The scent IS strong, but it's not crazy and if you like florals or sweet smells you will be fine. It lasts till day 2 sometimes as well, and considering that the body usually adjusts to its own smells, I'd say that still smelling it after 24 hours means I feel confident about how I smell to others. My routine now includes a weekly double cleanse with the VO5 Kiwi Clarifying Shampoo followed by this conditioner because I still have some build-up that I guess is natural, and also because the city I live in now has harder water than the one in which my ex-boyfriend abruptly left me this summer. Other than that, I wash and condition with this set every other day and use my normal styling products after. I have to say, after only a couple of weeks, my hair is bouncy, shiny, soft, and smells great. My curls are coming back to how they were in high school, and I am starting to feel like myself again.

I had high hopes for this shampoo and conditioner, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. The shampoo made my hair feel more dry than clean, and it seemed to strip away moisture rather than help retain it. I was hoping the conditioner would help balance that out, but it didn’t do much to improve the texture or softness of my hair. Overall, this combo just didn’t work for me — might be okay for someone with oilier hair, but if your hair tends to be on the drier side, I’d look elsewhere.

I just recently gave this a shot. The bottle is very handy -- pump-tops make things easier than hinge-lids. Overall, it's very lightweight, has good natural ingredient variety, and is also dye-free. It does its job well! Only other comment is that I am slightly disappointed in the scent since it's not what I thought it was going to be. It's supposed to be "zesty apple" but it's a very powdery grassy smell with maybe a small hint of floral. I was hoping for more apple. If you like scents that are amber/musk and clean, this will work for you.

This shampoo and conditioner set is a staple for myself and children. This is truly hydrating and offers great slip for detangling! Please note that the conditioning agents in this product will buildup over time so you should really invest in another clarifying shampoo as well. That when paired with this lineup is all you need to get going. To round out your entire collection then add in the curl talk bond set and you are all set! I really would also recommend the deep conditioner of this line as well (same matcha naturals essentials of this bundle set) but they have not added it to Amazon yet. Please, Not Your Mother's add your naturals matcha deep conditioner to Amazon. Only deep conditioner that I know with hydrate my curls without that pesky, highly scum buildup shea butter ingredient found in most shampoo and conditioners (another major reason I buy this particular naturals line).

I have very thick hair and there is a lot of it. My boyfriend has extremely sensitive skin and this product works amazing for both of us. This smells epic and leaves my hair soft and manageable. My only complaint is that I have to order both shampoo and conditioner, I don't know anyone that finishes both bottles of any brand at the same time.

Really disappointed... I looked through so many ads to make sure I was ordering the larger size. I realise it is a very small volume difference, but what I received was not what was advertised. (The white line through the label is where the packaging was glued to the label and it ripped when it was unpacked.)

I have tried a lot of shampoos in my 79 years, but I must say this was the first shampoo I actually found a difference!! A pleasant one I might add. It seemed to really clean my hair of the hair spray etc. and the conditioner was amazing as well. Much better than any I have used! I recommended it to my daughter who has ordered it as well.
