Same reliable quality
I’ve been using HotTools brand hair tools for decades. The quality has been reliable. I usually get the gold but decided to try this one as it was slightly less expensive (and a cool color combo - sucker for aesthetics) I will only use hot tools that have variable temperature control, which this iron has - going from 280-450 degrees. The first 2 or 3 times used, my hair really stuck to the coating on the barrel. Something I never experienced with the gold line. Some styles have you run the hair through at the end, and that was a little difficult. I’m not sure if it just has a little build up now that makes it less grippy, but after a week or so, it’s perfectly smooth to use.

5 out of 5!
I love this curling iron! It doesn’t pull on your hair and it gets hot quickly which is great. It’s high quality and incredibly durable - it seems like it will last a long time!

Excellent 1” Curling Iron
This is an exact make/model replacement for my very old iron. It worked to well for so many years I opted to get the same type. Item arrived quickly.

My favorite iron of all.
This is the best curling iron. I have used it for years. I just got a new one to have on standby. I curl my long thick hair and it stays curled. Quick and easy.

Nice curling iron for a pretty good price
This is a nice curling iron. I like the way it looks, and it does it’s job. I have thick, coarse hair. As I’ve gotten older, it’s gotten harder to curl, and it doesn’t hold curl very well. This curling iron curls it pretty well. My curl doesn’t stay very long, but the body does, and the ends stay pretty curled too. A smaller barrel might be better, idk, but that isn’t this curling iron’s fault. My one big compliant is that the clip on the barrel doesn’t hold the hair very tight. I bought the same barrel size Bed Head curling iron and that was my complaint there as well. Your hair slides right through the clip on the Bed Head which makes it way harder to actually use the curling iron like it should be used, by winding up your hair, it just slipped out. And I had to return it because it was taking me twice as long to curl my hair with it. This Hot Tools one is much better, but not perfect. It gets pretty hot which is a plus with coarse hair, I just wish it held on to your hair tighter when curling it. I’m sure that is not the best thing for your hair, but I wanted a curling iron like the old school ones lol, and the clamp not being very tight was my only complaint. If I wanted a wand, I would have bought a wand. The clamp not being very tight was also the reason I only gave it 4 stars. It does come with and extra piece that can replace the clamp mechanism if that breaks which is nice. Everything else about it is great.

Finally, great big waves that last!
This is my 3rd curling iron that I have bought from Amazon. I have been steadily reading reviews and watching youtube videos. I returned a much more expensive gold Paul Mitchell that seriously would not curl my hair at all. I then invested in a cheap Conair 1 1/4 inch barrel because my smaller Conair is awesome, but that also disappointed when the beautiful waves it created literally disappeared after 30 minutes. I have been wanting a Hot Tools iron, but couldn't decide on which model. The company's gold plated curling irons are very popular and I am sure that would have worked also, but my main concern was my hair type: very fine, dry, long hair. Although my hair is not really damaged, it is delicate and does snap easily. I have been using olaplex and also protein and moisture treatments but still have to be very careful. The nano ceramic is supposedly the best iron for delicate hair and hopefully will prevent damage. Used it for the first time last night and so far I am very happy. I do find that with my longer hair in the back I needed to turn the temp up a bit, but even on 400 degrees I saw no smoke, nor did I notice a burning smell. I do use a heat protecting spray. In fact, the iron was very gentle. There is definitely a learning curve for me on this tool, but I think I am going to love it. The swivel cord is awesome, the weight and feel of the iron makes me believe it will last, and most importantly my large waves lasted through yesterday evening and into the night. I wore my hair in a loose braid last night while I slept. This morning I simply took my hair down and used some dry shampoo, combed it with my fingers and my waves still look amazing. If the iron continues to function this well I will likely purchase the 1 inch also.

Burned off hair and shorted out
Maybe I just got a defective curling iron. After buying a 1 1/2 inch iron of the same make from Ulta, I decided I wanted a 1 inch, and Ulta was out. As usual, I turned to trusty Amazon, and the iron arrived two days later. After hearing the iron on 320 - my normal heat setting - I coated my hair with heat protectant, dried it on low heat, and sectioned out some hair. Over the last few months, I've been on a crusade to improve the health of my hair due to well water at my house, and this is one of the only times in my life I have used a curling iron. I'm terrified of heat damage, and I intentionally bought the iron most suggested by the Ulta store manager to decrease any heat damage, along with the recommended heat protectant. As soon as the hair was rolled, I noticed that it began to smoke, and I immediately pulled the hair off. Too late. The entire clump of hair was burned and fell into the sink. Over the next half hour, I snipped out as many of the burnt hair ends as I could from my good hair, leaving a patch on the side snipped off halfway up the hair. I left the curling iron plugged in and tried to troubleshoot. Within five minutes I noticed that the iron was no longer heating. The only thing I can figure is that the iron shorted out, causing a heat surge, and then but the dust entirely. Under NO circumstances would I buy this product from Amazon, and I am going to thoroughly investigate before EVER buying another hot tools product. In fact, the possibility that this is an Amazon issue calls into question for me whether I should continue to buy from Amazon - and I am a diehard Amazon user. What the heck, Amazon??

The only hair curler I'll ever use!
I first bought this curler in Canada at a Winners a decade ago. For years it's been a constant in my hair routine, and I've really come to learn how to use it to its strengths. It's smooth ceramic length is fantastic for sliding along your curl and making sure all segments of your hair feels the right amount of heat. I've found this doesn't happen as smoothly with other curlers - my hair will get caught or snap when I'm trying to move it down the length of the curler. The temperature control is a nice feature but I've always left it around 380 - it's my sweet spot. It heats up quick and cools down fast too. It's slim and super easy to travel with. I can't say enough good things about this curler. My first curler ended up failing on me randomly, it just failed to heat up one day right before I moved to the US, so one of the first things I did when I moved was to track this product down and order another one. Ten years of life is amazing for a hair product!! And this is better value than most of those other overpriced hair tools out there.

Hot Tools is a superior product.
This is my second Hot Tools curling iron in about 30 years. My first one still works, but does not have the ceramic coating, which makes your hair glide so smoothly through the iron. I had bought a Hot Shot Tools iron with the ceramic coating several years ago, which also still works, but it is not as smooth as the Hot Tools. This could be due to the iron being older, but I am very happy with my new Hot Tools purchase. The price was very competitive compared to the Hot Shot Tools price that I found online while searching for my new iron to replace one that was lost in our RV in a wildfire last summer. I actually decided to keep the new one at home and put the old one in our RV!

Cheap and efficient
Paid less than CAD$15 for it and I am totally satisfied with the curls it gives me, I curl after I wash my hair and the curls stays intact for a day and after 2 or 3 days I still have loose curls on. That is exactly what I was expecting. The size is very versatile and I can make many different types of curls on my hair.
