Product is Fragile--But works good for short fine haired pets
When i first got this comb it worked great , zapped the fleas you could see the sparks , the first time i had to remove the plastic cover to clean the comb i had issues with it. It would not sound off when fully extended , i had to play with it by moving the slider back and forth to keep the connection. It zapped for a while like that then it just stopped zapping the sound still goes off now with the comb fully extended but its not zapping any more. The comb is perfect for soft-fine haired pets but the comb teeth will bend easy. Once you bend the teeth on the comb it stops working. I tried to get in contact with EpiLady support the manual said if these types of problems happen replace the comb but i still have not heard back from EpiLady as of yet. I think the product is perfect for my pet , I ordered another but this time i will treat it fragile and hope it lasts longer than the last one. Also if i get word on replacement combs i will post it. I have purchased all of the top flea zappers on the market right now and this one works the best.

Sometimes zaps your cat along with the fleas
These are very good at zapping fleas on cats, but my cats hate it. I think sometimes it zaps my cat along with the fleas. I now use it on my cat to comb him without the zapper engaged because he hated it so much. It is still effective at getting fleas off him, but I have to admit that it is more effective at killing fleas when it is turned on.

I didn't like it. I prefer the flea comb, it takes out more fleas. and even ticks from my pets
We have a flea and ticks plague in our area, so I use to brush and comb my cats every day, to take out those dangerous insects from them. I have used a comb for a few years to catch the insects. That comb is very good, and I am able to find and catch many fleas and even ticks from my cats, but sometimes, when I am throwing the fleas and ticks in the alcohol,to kill them, they jump away. I thought the Epilady Zapper would be a good tool, because it kills the fleas and ticks immediately, but not. It catched only a few fleas, and when I combed them with the cheap comb I use, I found still many insects. After 15 minutes using the Epilady, it stopped working. I changed the batteries but nothing, it came defective, so I returned it. I wasn't impressed, anyways.

Not working
It worked really well for several days. I changed the batteries then it stopped working. I am going to get new batteries and try again. I hope it’s just that the battling have are old. I am using it to zap flea.

AMAZING!
IT WORKS! And I am amazed and surprised. Even though Epilady is a well-known brand name, I expected this item to be a bust. Why? Because we have four cats, all with different personalities, but with some traits in common; they don't like high-pitch sounds and electronic sparking noises- and here I am buying something that emits a high pitch whine and electronically 'zaps' fleas. Well, it arrived. I read the directions and powered it up. As suggested in the directions, with it "on" I set it in an accessible area for all the cats. Once I heard the thing I was wondering if my wife and I would be able to tolerate the high-pitch whine, much less the cats. Man, this thing is annoying and the cats ran from it. I just left it on and when the batteries ran down I put in fresh batteries and let it run. After about a week, I turned it off, put in fresh batteries and set it beside my recliner. One by one, as each cat would come by for a treat or to sit for a while, I would turn on the Epilady and hold it for each cat to "sniff". To my absolute amazement, every cat let me groom it with the Epilady! I am careful not to press to hard because the teeth and plastic tines are a bit "pointy". This Epilady Electronic Comb is anything but a bust. IT'S FANTASTIC. Our cats love it. It removes loose undercoat and with the retractable blades when the teeth fill with hair I just retract the teeth and the hair is in my hand. Great feature. The zapping sound when the teeth hit a flea is very minor and I see a blue spark upon contact. As far as durability is concerned, I don't know. Haven't had it long enough. Battery life is very good. It's ergonomically easy to use, performs all functions excellently and is absolutely, without a doubt, the best grooming comb we have ever owned or used and the added benefit of killing fleas is a real bonus. Hey! Cats get fleas (even with the monthly treatment they each get) especially ours, since they have their own "cat door" and spend all day and night going in and out. This comb is the best hand tool we have found to help us defeat the fleas.

I watched in maniacal glee as the fleas actually lit up and were burned to a crisp!
Wow! My friend recommended this to me from the Sharper Image website. Of course, not only being a Prime member, but also a fan, I checked on Amazon first, and lo and behold, there it was, 15 dollars less expensive. I bought it. I just got it and gave the dogs their first comb-through. I put the batteries in, grabbed one dog, and ran it through her fur. I heard the buzzing, and I did indeed hear some zapping. I only got one flea off of her and it was dead. I grabbed the other dog. His fur is much thicker and with the first comb-through, I watched in maniacal glee as the fleas actually lit up and were burned to a crisp! I'm sorry for their little flea families, but you cannot harm my pets, drink their blood, and expect to live. This thing is fun, works perfectly, and is super easy to clean, because it has a retractable comb. If you're anal, as I am, take a soft toothbrush to it after you retract it and pull the hair off. Little warning: I put it against my skin, and I indeed got a little shock, but if you try different angles, some don't hurt your pet at all - experiment and see which angles keep the electricity from your fur baby. Helpful hint: Not all of the fleas will be dead. As a matter of fact one jumped away before I could slay it. I imagine he is warning the colony now to pack up their little circuses and move. Fine by me. To prevent this from happening, tap the comb on a folded piece of paper. The comb has a flat side near the head (where it says "Flea Zapper"). Tap the fleas onto the piece of paper. If one is moving, finish it off by folding the paper and rolling the flat side of it. BOOM! SQUISH! Goodbye evil flea. Let one go to warn the rest of the circus to pack up and MOVE! Inform him that he's lucky. (Or ... don't ...)
