Excellent warm vaporizer
When I lived in Colorado 30+ years ago, I got sinus infection infections all the time, due to the extremely dry environment. I was miserable and tired of getting sinus infections. I bought one of these Vicks warm, moist vaporizer 30+ years ago and it was a Lifesaver! I’ve been visiting family again since 2024 and I’ve been miserable with the dry air. I was so excited to find the Vicks vaporizer on Amazon. It hasn’t changed and it’s an amazing and life-saving vaporizer. There’s nothing like the warm steam right next to your bed. I highly suggest this product it’s affordable and effective.

It’s easy to set up
★★★★★ The Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer & Humidifier is a great product for adding moisture to dry air and making the room feel more comfortable. The 1.5-gallon capacity is convenient because it can run for a long time without needing constant refilling. I like that it provides warm steam and helps create a more comfortable environment, especially during dry seasons or when dealing with congestion. It is easy to set up, simple to use, and the design is practical. The build quality feels good, and it has been reliable in daily use. I’m very satisfied with this humidifier and would recommend it for home use.

Love this thing
My mom was coughing for what felt like months. The cold winter and hot dry house was not helping. I bought this out of desperation trying to break up the cough and get her on her way to wellness. I got the vicks liquid too. Hooked this little thing up and turned it on.....I did not notice any steam, the windows did not get condensation, I was bummed. Then on the suggestion of my mom's aide along with the confirmation of my dad we put a tiny pinch of salt in the water and it was AWESOME. Now a few things to note....the good - major steam with the salt...nothing noticeable without salt. The liquid smells good and all but completely unnecessary. Moms cough literally stopped within a week after starting this up. Her 86 year old skin is beautiful and not even a little dry. Her typically very staticy hair is not at all...frizz yes, curls (was not aware she even had curls) are also a new phenomenon The not so good. Every single day we clean and change out the water and every single day there is black gunk in the water. Makes me worry that I am sending mold into the air, but currently she is not coughing, skin integrity, and overall better feeling of a bit of moisture in the air is making us keep using it.

not happy with jump thru hoops to get it working
did not like this. tho it works im not hapy with it. first off it wont run without me putting salt in it. i know non mineral tap water. i remember near 60 years ago my mom puttinig salt in this same unit. now i know why. i pit few shakes of salt. worked for 6 hours, then stopped heating. also noticed small black flakes in bowl. looks like part of the base heating element flakes off. normal? dunno anywyas put more salt in it, worked for 2 hours then stopped workinig. pit more salt in, wrled for 30 minutes then stopped. should i put in 8 oz of salt to run whole time or set my alarm every few hours to wake me up. sigh i have the other style, 1 with the kinds rectunagular water holder. worked for years, no salt etc. now when i fill it it leaks out maybe 4-5 oz of water then runs ok im gonna puy another of those and throw this one in the closet

They work, but you need to know several thing about this product before consideration
I use to run about 4 - 5 of these things when I lived in overseas in the military during the dry winter months (electricity was free for us). Our TDS was around 70, so adding salt was absolutely necessary in order to get it to steam. I will say, if you add too much salt this thing will cough up boiling hot water on whatever it sits on, so you have been warned. Follow the directions and add just a little at a time, wait 5 minutes, add a little more until desired results are achieved. If your water is already very hard, you may not need to do this at all. I know this product is the cheapest humidifier out there, but one of the most expensive to run. I just checked it with my whole home electric usage meter and it runs about 500 watts an hour! Here is an example: If you were to run this 24 hours a day for a whole month being charged .12 cents a kilowatt hour. 500 x 24 x 30 days = 360,000 watts or 360 kilowatts for the whole month x .12 = $43.2 to operate for the whole month! So you can see where this could add up for you. Well that is not it. As you can see in the pictures, the rods (whatever they are made of), are brand new, this was fresh out of the box. Over time they start to corrode and oxidize. Now I am not suggesting you do what I do, but if you use a T27 torx bit, one can unscrew the top from the rod housing to access these rods (obviously unplugged), and clean out the rod housing, and gently scrape off the oxidation with a sharp knife or razor, rinse and put back together. This has allowed me to slightly extend the life of these humidifiers significantly. I was able to get maybe 12 months out of one humidifier before it was completely trash. I would perform this maintenance about once every 3 - 4 months depending how the unit was performing. You will also note that with in time, there WILL be some black particle precipitate in the tank. This is the oxidation material from the rods, I would just pour it into the toilet and refill the tank and add salt. Oh, I might add that once you add the salt to the tank during daily operation, you do not have to keep adding it every time you have to fill the tank. If you do, your unit will be coughing up boiling water. If you use this in a smaller room and are getting condensation on the windows and exterior wall and are looking to keep your humidity at bay. Consider a outlet timer. I would use the timer in the bedroom, 1 hour on 1 hour off. Lastly, do not leave these units unattended. One of my units started smoking. Once I took it apart to see what was going on, it seemed that the corrosion was so bad where the electrical cord met the unit, it created somewhat of a short or corrosion bridge between the wires. Again, I used these things units until they were completely trash. I just wouldn't leave this in a baby's room overnight or leave it plugged in and leave the house. Also with the use of outlet timers, you can ensure that this unit will not operate in your absence. Our bedroom timer would turn off at 6:00 AM and resume operation at 9:00 PM. Again, once I have to clean my humidifier, I will post pictures that will illustrate what I speak of above.

definitely a useful product to have during cold season!
This Vicks vaporizer was a great help while I was dealing with a cold. The warm steam made the room feel more comfortable and helped me breathe easier. It was simple to use and worked well throughout the night. I especially appreciated having it nearby when I was feeling congested and under the weather.

Super quiet! Perfect for any household!
Perfect for bedrooms and nurseries! The noise level is very low and it’s super effective. The mist output depends on added salt levels and makes it easy to clean! We love this now household essential!

Poor performer
I throw a fair amount of salt in as I’m filling it. It ( usually) shoots a decent amount of steam for a couple hours and then slows down to almost nothing after that. There’s no way it would run through the night. This type of humidifier has been around forever so it’s a mystery why Vicks can’t build one. Vicks has been around for over 100 years. Why would they put their name on this? Not recommended.
