This Shark vacuum has been great! The suction is powerful and picks up dirt, dust, and hair extremely well on both carpet and hard floors. I especially like the Lift-Away feature because it makes cleaning stairs, furniture, and harder-to-reach areas much easier. It’s simple to use, easy to empty, and feels sturdy. My floors noticeably look cleaner after using it. Definitely worth the money and I would highly recommend it!

The Shark Navigator has great suction and picks up dirt and pet hair well. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver. If I could update anything it would be the length of the attachment and cord; however, I am pleased with the vacuum and recommend this model as a great value for the price.

This is a great vacuum cleaner and so versatile. It has great suction and the Lift-Away feature is wonderful, especially for vacuuming stairs and reaching high places for cobwebs or dust. I also purchased the bare floor attachment and love the washable microfiber covers. As far as I am concerned, this machine only has one drawback. If you have a dog with longer fine fur (which I do), the hair wraps around the beater bar and gets embedded in the bushes and is a real pain to remove. There is no way to easily access the bar. The bar does provide a groove so that you can run scissors along the bar to cut the hair into smaller sections but it's not the easiest operation. It does pick up shorter pet hair (which we have plenty of as well). Other than that, I love this vacuum cleaner.

I don't get paid for reviews. I just want to put that up front. So I've had the same Dyson vacuum for many years and it's still great, however, we moved into a quad-level home and hauling that thing up and down stairs was a no-go. I picked up this vacuum, which I lovingly now call my Sharknado, on a special for $150 on Amazon, not sure that I would even like it but the deal was good and there was a video of a guy vacuuming pet hair. I have two large German Shepherds who shed a ton and from the video it looked like it was high quality suction. So long story short this was the most amazing purchase ever. I really love how the head is narrow .. I can get into a lot more tight spaces than I can with my Dyson. It picks up loads of dog hair with no problem, has adjustable section settings, and is just beyond powerful. I waited a few weeks before I wrote this review so that I could be the most help to someone else. I easily would have paid the full $200 price knowing what I know now and still may pick up another one so that I don't have to go up one flight of stairs. Although it is very much lighter than my Dyson and much easier to transport around. This is a great vacuum!

I got this vacuum after my Sister recommended Shark. It was this or a Dyson, because I decided I'm too old to buy crappy vacuums any longer. My last was a nice Hoover but after 3 years it died. I received the box quickly, however after assembly right out of the box the brush head on the vacuum didn't work. Instead of going through Amazon I called the 800 # in the pamphlet that came in the box. He quickly ran me thought some troubleshooting and after about 1 minute of info gathering he said, "You need a new lower unit. I will send one out to you today. Unfortunately that means you can't use your vacuum until you get it, and we sincerely apologize for that." Two days later, I had the new lower unit, installed it and it works great. There was no wishy-washy instructions on how to return it or "send it back through Amazon" - they just fixed the problem in the fastest way they could. I didn't even have to send the other lower unit back. Impressive! The vacuum works GREAT. We've got two dogs that shed a lot and it did fine with the dog hair and my own relatively long hair. No issues with the brush clogging on either the lower unit or the pet hair attachment. Suction is AMAZING and I love that the lower unit brush turns off when the vacuum is upright. I vacuumed our entire 4-bed house and even at the end when the canister was quite full, it didn't loose any power. It's a bit top-heavy, but much better than my sister's where the canister seems to sit higher on the handle - so this model has more weight lower to the ground, I think. It can be a little tippy, but that's a small price to pay for the maneuverability of this thing. It gets into places my other vacuums never could. The head is pretty narrow - but again, the size allows it to get between and under things that a bigger one couldn't. I was worried about the canister...I have had them in the past and hated to empty them. It's like you'd need to vacuum the mess up after emptying because the dust and dirt just explodes! This canister opens both from the top and the bottom and the filters are not inside of the canister, so you can actually get all the dirt out of it - and if you wanted to, could even clean it out with soapy water. Open the bottom and the stuff drops out. Close it up, flip it over and open the top to the same effect. No shaking, brushing, picking...it just falls out and into the garbage. The filters are easy to remove and easy to wash - let them sit in the dishrack overnight and they're dry and ready to use the next day. All in all, at 54 I can say with certainty this is the nicest, quietest, most effective vacuum I've ever owned. The customer service I received has me converted to Shark for the rest of my life. Highly recommend!

I purchased this back in Oct 2015 and have had no major issues with it so far. Not sure if things have changed since I bought this, but mine came with the dust-away floor, crevice tool, dusting brush, and pet power brush attachments. The photos on Amazon show a "Hard Floor Hero" attachment, which is new to me. My hard floor attachment is the dust-away floor attachment that comes with microfiber pads. It's basically a Swiffer + vacuum in one, which makes it awesome. Initially, I didn't use the dust-away attachment for my hard floors since it was a pain to hold the portable lift-away component in one hand and use the other hand to do the physical vacuuming. That said, I initially used both a Swiffer and the Shark's motorized floor brush (bare floor setting) to clean my hard floors, which was double work. I came up with an idea to grab an old backpack and use it to hold the lift-away component so I could have more mobility. To avoid the vacuum from overheating in the backpack, I cut a hole in it so that it could vent out the filtered air. Ok, I have to say this is a very crude and not the prettiest setup, but since doing it, vacuuming hard floors has become 100% more efficient for me. I actually have fun Ghostbustering all the dust and pet hair off the hardwood floors. The dust-away attachment is now my most used attachment since my house is about 70% hard floor (tile and hardwood). My second most used attachment is the motorized floor brush (traditional vacuum) for my carpets. The suction when using the floor brush is really strong. I don't notice the strong suction so much on my carpeted floors, but on my Ikea floor rugs, it's super noticeable. In fact, it sucks so hard on the rug that I have to put quite a bit of force to push it through. It’s like getting a good chest workout when working the vacuum over my Ikea floor rugs. I use the other two attachments occasionally. The crevice and dusting brush are pretty useful to pickup my beard trimmings off the bathtub floor (I don't like washing all that stuff down the drain). Of course the dusting brush is good for other surfaces like window sills, but admittedly, I don't dust my window sills that often... After adding my crude Ghostbuster accessory, sucking up spider webs from the garage ceiling is practically effortless with the crevice tool. Lastly, I LOVE how this vacuum is bagless. I actually enjoy watching the dust cup fill up with fur, hair, dust, etc... each time I'm done vacuuming. It shows me that the Shark Navigator is doing it's job keeping my house clean. I didn't get to enjoy that fun with traditional vacuums with dust bags. The dust cup is also super easy to empty out and has a great design. Kudos to Shark for designing the dust cup so that it can be emptied from either the top or the bottom of it. So far, I've only cleaned and rinsed out the foam filter about 3 times. I haven't cleaned out the felt filter yet (I didn't realize that it was removable and washable until just recently). Despite that, I haven't notice a decrease in suction power, but admittedly I don't vacuum that often (maybe once a month). In the end, I love this vacuum especially after I'm able to carry it on my back.

Initially, I was very impressed with this vacuum. The suction was excellent, and it was lightweight enough that it didn’t aggravate my back pain. Unfortunately, after about a month, the suction power noticeably diminished. I took the vacuum apart and cleaned the filters, which improved the suction for about a week, but it soon started losing power again. The biggest flaw in the design is the vacuum’s stability. The slightest bump or movement can cause it to tip over, and it’s even worse when using the hose extension. The hose is already quite short, and you can’t extend it to its full length without the vacuum toppling over. The price is reasonable, but unfortunately, that’s about the only thing this vacuum has going for it. While it started out strong, the declining suction and poor stability make it difficult to recommend.

This is my second Shark Navigator. I bought the first one used, and liked it so much I bought another one on Amazon when the first one stopped working. Two vacuum cleaner repair people have told me that this vacuum is one of the very best, and the only fault it has is that once the roller brush stops working, instead of being a fairly easy fix you'd have to replace the whole head. That costs $100 and a brand new one was on sale here for $150, so it was a no-brainer to get a new one. I love it just as much as my old one. Easy to maneuver and lightweight, picks up really well, has a power forward when the roller brush is engaged. My favorite thing is that you can so easily switch off the roller brush when you go from carpet to hard flooring, so there's no chance of damaging the floor. It's not super quiet....but I have never used a vacuum that was, and this noise level is not bad. Works great to pick up dust on the floor and is excellent at pet hair pickup. I don't care about the fairly short cord, because all you have to do is attach an extension cord and I've had to do that with every vacuum I've had. As for durability, the used one lasted over 4 years, so I expect this one to last a long time, probably at least double that long, because I now know to clean the hair out of the brush every time I use it!

I bought this vacuum about a month ago after doing a good amount of research, and I am very happy so far with its performance. Key points: - It is not overly heavy, as some other reviews may have indicated. - The ability to detach the main canister and to use the wand is a game changer. It was pointed out in some other reviews that the hose stiffens to the point that it becomes too short. That is simply not the case -- it stretches out easily. - The unit has a cord whether operated as an upright vacuum or with the detached portable canister. The cord is not a burden in either of its modes. The vacuum should be held by the canister handle when operated in detached mode, and there is no reason to hold the cord. - The level of suction on carpet is very powerful. Importantly, though, users have the ability to adjust the level of suction by turning a section close to the handle. - **My vacuum did not come with the microfiber pad that is pictured** The ability to turn off the brushes is great for preventing scratches on hard wood floors. Because the brushes are not used, however, the vacuum will not pick up absolutely everything. This is a necessary compromise. This vacuum is best used for a "first over" of hard wood floors, and then followed up with by a other cleaning methods. - The canister holds a lot of dirt and does not need to be emptied often. Additionally, it's fairly easy to dispose of its contents. - I paid $222.38 CDN for it over amazon.ca I cannot comment too much on the effectiveness of the HEPA filter or how often it needs to be replaced because I have owned the unit for only about a month.

My wife calls this R2D2, lol. I looks a bit like a scifi robot. We've only ever bought cheap vacuums, and never thought to ever try something at least a bit more expensive than the rock bottom priced vacuums. Our cheap vacuum's belt broke and found it was doing such a poor just and it got so disgusting after all this time, that I'd figure, ok, let's try to see if life can be better. I used Consumer Reports to let me home in something that doesn't suck from above but sucks good from below :-) It was between a few choices. This particular vacuum has some good reviews, so I decided to choose this one. Apparently there are other models of this brand that look similar but that don't have as much suction power. Consumer Reports reports some as having mediocre suction power. But this particular one, is sucking on steroids! On thick carpet you basically get a workout moving this thing about. This *could* be a problem for some. Apparently there is a way to let it purposely leak air in, and that might be a great workaround, but in our case, we like the power that comes with it. Our upstairs carpet is a bit thinner, and with that it is much easier to use. No problem in fact. Where it becomes hard to move is on our living plushy carpet. But then something unexpected happened. The canister filled up entirely with tiny dust particles. It became solid gray. It detected that it could no longer suck, and a safety valve kicked in. It's really fool proof. So it *actually* sucked all that from inside and under the carpet. The previous vacuum wasn't grabbing this at all! I had to empty the canister many times by the time I vacuumed the whole house! The house was never clean before, I guess. One of the reasons it works so well, aside from its awesome power, is because the bristles are motorized! There is an electric motor in that bottom part! Instead of using slippy belts that draw from the main motor, it uses a geared belt that connects to a separate motor. It detects if it gets stuck and turns off that motor. Brilliant, again, fool proof! That belt will probably not break. But I went on youtube to see if it is possible to fix *IF* it'd ever breaks. No problem! You can find replacement belt / bristle kits and it's no problem at all! So because the bristles are motorized, you get to choose if you want the bristles to run or not. So on a wooden floor you can roll this thing around super easy. It's nice and gentle on the floor, with proper wheels. And so many features! You can detach the bottom part with ease. Great for the stairs! You can detach the hose and is comes with this bristle attachment that *actually* works! It gets its spin from the suction power, and you'd think it'd never work well, but it really actually does! This is really very well designed, intelligent product! The designers really did a very good job on this. All the plastic is all made from good solid materials. There is absolutely nothing flimsy about it. My wife calls it R2D2 but to me it's more like a Tesla vacuum :-)

I want to be able to give it a 5 because of the suction, but there are a few cons. The first is it is super loud and heavy! It’s a good workout though. I wish there was a spot for the small pet brush on the unit as well. It’s not as easy to empty as my Dyson. I am finding that I have to use my hands to get all the debris out, as well as both the top and bottom latches to dump the debris. The fact that the suction is the BEST, makes up for the cons for sure! Worth the price for sure!!!

Used it for the first time today and so far it’s great. PROS: Picked up all of the dog hair on my carpeted stairs in under 5 minutes with minimal effort. The “brushroll on” feature is amazing! It pulled the vacuum along for me and all I had to do was guide it, barely any effort required. The long hose with handle came in handy when cleaning around the baseboards, I did not need to bend over and hurt my back. It is fairly quiet, has great suction, picked up everything quickly and I was shocked at how much dog hair it grabbed! IF YOU HAVE DOGS I PROMISE YOU YOU NEED THIS! The canister was easy to remove and empty. CONS: It is heavier than my old vacuum (not really a con as it is made with high quality materials). It does tip over easily when using the long arm with the handle especially on stairs (an easy fix if you sturdy it with your leg). There is no place on the vacuum for the pet hair removal accessory, unless I haven’t found it yet? It does not have a quick retraction cord which is annoying because everything else about this vacuum is amazing! Poor design choice.
