TRUGLO TFO Tritium & Fiber-Optic Handgun Sight Durable Snag-Resistant Glowing Front & Rear Night Sight, Compatible with Smith & Wesson M&P Series

I wanted to wait a year to write a review on these sights. Now, with over a year of daily carry and about 2,500 rounds through my Shield 9mm, I am an honest believer in this sight system. They have held up flawlessly and look good as new. The sights have been subjected to varying weather conditions, from 90 degrees and humid to 10 degrees and snowing. My Shield rides in an IWB holster so the sights get stressed about as much as they possibly could under normal use. I run my Shield with standard pressure ammo, so I have no experience with any +P ammo or the added strain from the higher pressure. I have no concerns with that, however, based on their condition to this point. The combination of fiber optic rods and tritium dots couldn't pair better for any lighting situation. In the day time, the fiber optic rods provide a clear, bright, and easy to acquire sighting system that has allowed me to really stretch the accuracy of my Shield, which is impressive with only a 3" barrel. My groupings are within 2" out to 20 yards and I'm hitting center of mass out to 40 yards consistently. I don't have any of the issues with point of aim and point of impact as others have reported. That's really stretching the abilities of the Shield. Since we all know most defensive situations occur under cover of darkness, this is where these TruGlo sights excel. The tritium is extremely bright and effortless to acquire. They are by no measure dim. They glow bright green and provide a very intuitive aiming system. I am going as far as to say these TFO sights have set the standards upon which I gauge other sights. I am absolutely impressed and have plans to purchase these or newer variances (TFX) for any and all applications on weapons systems I have. I simply can't recommend these highly enough. As far as fitting them up to my Shield, I took the sights to a local gunsmith and paid the $30 to have them installed. After reading about some of the trickiness with getting them in properly, I figured $30 is well spent to have them installed and sighted in properly. I can say with confidence, buy these and trust your life with them! I have for the last year and several THOUSAND rounds.

I really like these sights, and have nothing bad to say about them. I have the green front/yellow rear combination on a 4.5" XDM, and purchased these for my M&P soon after purchasing it. I shoot in a lot of different light conditions. My local indoor range has so so lighting, and these highly visible sights make things a lot easier on my middle aged eyes. The outdoor range that I'm a member of has a roof over the shooter's. Lighting can be extremely bright, or very dim depending upon the weather and time of day (I do most of my shooting on rainy days). These sights perform well under all conditions, and they are amazingly bright when the sun hits them. I cannot say enough good things about them. Will they stand up to abuse? I don't know. I saw an earlier review in which a buyer complained about them cracking. I haven't seen that, but I have to admit that the round count is low on my M&P. There's been close to 1,000 rnds put through my XDM since the TFO's were installed, and there haven't been any issues. Both guns are for home defense, and are not carried. I prefer the green front/yellow rear combination over the green/green. This isn't a critique. It is what it is. I like the contrast of the two different colors better. Sooo.... I put these $75 (or so) sights on two different handguns in one year. This should tell you what I think of them, but I'll go one step further. A friend of mine bought a S&W Shield several months ago and was impressed with my TFO's. He wanted the same for his CCW gun, but they don't (at this time) make a version just for the Shield (I checked). There is an extremely slight overhang on each side of the rear sight when it's installed on the Shield. After looking at photos online, we decided that the overhang was almost unnoticeable (probably about 1/32"). My friend had them installed on the Shield, and they look like they were made for that weapon. There are no sharp edges, and I believe that only those that have done their research would know that these TFO's weren't intended for the S&W Shield.

Rule 3 of the “4 Rules of Gun Safety” is: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target (and you have made the decision to shoot). If you can’t properly see your sights you have not satisfied rule number 3. The sights on the Shield are not terrible, but as with most things in life, there is always room for improvement. I’ve always had an internal dilemma with night sights. If it is so dark that you are relying on the little vials of tritium to align your sights, you probably can’t actually see what you are aiming at. And for anyone who has ever has night sights installed on their guns, you know that the little bits of tritium don’t do anything when lighting is decent. In fact, compared to a standard fiber sight, or even a neon painted sight, the tritium is harder to pick up quickly, at least for me. Enter the Truglo TFO sights. Fiber to amplify ambient light and tritium for low/no light situations. Pros: The sights are made of metal. Plastic sights have no place on a gun as far as I’m concerned. I haven’t had to test how strong they are, but they seem beefy enough to use them to rack the slide if necessary. Fiberoptic. These really help bring out the ambient light. It makes the sights much easier to pick up in the day time. Tritium. It’s a night sight, it glows. Compared to the other night sights I have, Siglite, meprolight, ameriglo etc, they all seem about the same. Cons: None at the moment. Install: I installed them myself with a punch, large hammer, and a vise. I watched some youtube videos and had at it. If you aren’t confident in your abilities, just take it to a gunsmith so you don’t accidentally scratch your gun. They fit well and are snug. I don’t anticipate them shifting and losing zero. I will update if that happens. Other Thoughts: I’m a firm believer that anyone that carries a gun should also carry a dedicated light, either mounted on their weapon or a handheld unit, not your cell phone. The light will help you identify your target and the spill can even help brighten the fiber optics. This makes me wonder if the tritium is even necessary considering they aren’t that bright overall. My conclusion with this is that 2 is 1 and 1 is none. I would rather have both features available to me just in case.

Needed a set of tritium fiber optic sights for a new pistol. I have these sights on another pistol, and they are great. I wanted the same for the new one. Not much trouble installing them with the proper tool. Once in place, my shooting vastly improved over the use of the factory sights. The green front sight was much brighter than the yellow rear sight, as it's designed to be. And yes, these DO fit the S&W SD9VE 9mm pistol, in spite of the description of the sights saying otherwise. Well there's your review. They were not too difficult to install. They work great, with more than adequate brightness both day and night. The color contrast of green front and yellow rear sights are marvelous.

I love these sights. I have been replacing stock sights on many of my handguns. I like a little more than a white dot. I put these on my M&P 9 and my M&P Shield 9mm. I have a Truglo fiber optic front sight on my Glock 27 that is bright and works great but doesn't glow in darkness like these. There are few situations where night sights will help you. If it is completely dark you probably shouldn't be shooting since you can't identify a threat or make an accurate shot. BUT, in low light these are great. One other great benefit is being able to find your firearm in the darkness. It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling seeing the sights glowing on my nightstand. The ONLY reason I give these 4 stars is because they could be made more efficient by skeletonizing the sight to allow light to enter the fiber optic bar from the side. In daytime shooting the sights are about half as bright as the other fiber-optic-only sights (unless the light source is from directly above you). It really deserves 4.5 Stars. For anyone deciding between these and regular Trijicon night sights....In a side-by-side comparison the yellow rear sights are slightly dimmer than my Trijicons on my XDM but the front Truglo TFO sight is slightly brighter. Perfect! Having used both now, I much prefer the Truglo TFO to the Trijicon night sights. In daylight use, the Troglo TFO sights are far far superior to the Trijicon sights. They are cheaper too! Bonus! As always with amazon prime, they shipped quickly and arrived 2 days after my order.

I haven't mounted them yet because they are so dim. In a dark room they are barely visible. The worst part is these thieves won't let you return them. Do not buy these sights. THEY ARE ALMOST USELESS. ADDENDUM. I had the sights mounted by my gunsmith and the difference is remarkable. On the M&P the sights are nice and bright and I am pleased with them. My apology to TruGlo for my earlier review. I don't know why mounting the sights on the gun makes such a difference but it does. So buy these sights. They work just fine.

I bought 2 sets of sights recently. The first was the Tru Glo Truglo Brite-Site TFX Pro, Sight, fits Glk 17,17L,19,22,23,24,26,27,33,34,35,38,39, Tritium/Fiber-Optic, Day/Night Sight, 24/7 Brightness, Orange Ring on Front Sight (for my Glock 26). I liked them so much more than the stock sights, but I since the brightness of all dots were the same, my eyes tend to focus more on the rear sights since they are closer to my eye and appear brighter. This was especially noticeable in low/no light conditions. This is the second set of sights that I purchased (M&P Shield). Wow! The front sight is brighter than the rears, so your eye(s) automatically focus on the front site in both normal and low/no light, which is what you want to do when aligning your sight picture. They glow well in low/no light, which is 100% better than the factory sights. I'm glad I bought these as opposed to the same set I bought for my Glock. The only advantage to the TFX Pro was that they had forward canting rear sights, which made it easy to rack my slide with only one hand on my waistband or shoe. The TFO has a no-snag design, so it doesn't have an aggressive edge for me to rack my slide 1 handed.

Did the install myself on my M&P 9mm 2.0 after doing plenty of research. Not a job I'd recommend for the novice, but not terrible if you're mechanically inclined. Had to file the bottoms slightly for proper fit, which is to be expected. Took it to the range and the accuracy from a bench rest seems good at 25 yards. Daytime visibility is a tremendous improvement over the 3 dot factory sights. In darkened conditions, they weren't as bright as I was expecting - but after evaluating them, I believe the amount of "glow" is probably just right. The photo of the darkened room is exaggerated due to my phone's low light camera mode. Will most likely buy again for my next handgun.

these sights are a huge improvment over the stock sights on my M&P 9mm. Nice tight fit on the front sight. The rear sight was a little too tight to be able to adjust for windage easily but not realy a problem for me because once I have it dialed in I don't move it.

Used these sites for about to years , they are bright at night and during the day . On a sunny day they can become a little over whelming . I would recommend having a different coloured front site to focus more on that . Be careful installing the front site as they are fragile .
