AmScope HL250-AY Dual-Gooseneck Fiber Optic Stereo Microscope Light, 150W Halogen Light Source, 110V-120V

I never used one before, so it was a treat to have lighting like this for my microscope to do photography.

it works great, and it is adaptable to our different processes. It has a small footprint. We couldn't be happier with the purchase

It works as expected. There are only two very minor issues. The power cord doesn't seem to have a very strong connection because it shuts off if I lightly bump the back of the unit into the wall and I have to push the cord back in to get the power back on. Secondly, the screws that hold the gooseneck into the box become loose every time I adjust the position of those fiber optics. It doesn't fall out but it wiggles from side to side and I have to constantly tighten those screws. It works for great for what my needs are so I don't necessarily mind these little nuisance issues.

Works as advertised. I am happy with it that I ordered a second unit.

I purchased it because the price was excellent as a warehouse item. It was repackaged but virtually a new unit. My first impression was that it was of good quality. It produced good light. Nevertheless, I returned it principally due to the noise. The cooling fan whined loudly and would have driven me nuts. The other reason was due to what look like focusing lenses at the ends of the light guides. But they are fixed and not adjustable. Dolan and Jenner and many other professionally-used illuminators can accommodate adjustable ones. Being able to narrow or widen the beams of light is very helpful.

While this light source is adequate for most purposes, the output it not stable over time. We used it as a source for color reflectance measurements and had to white balance very often. I would not recommend this source for that application but it would be fine for microscope illumination or other applications where shifts in output spectrum are unimportant.

Arrived on time and worked out of the box. So far, very happy with the lamp.

As others have mentioned, the fan is VERY noisy. It ended up failing. Instead of sending it back to Amscope, I replaced the fan with a NMB fan that was more quiet. later, it blew the primary fuse (hidden in the AC receptacle on the back). Fortunately, the overcomplicated 12 VDC source didn't make the replacement fuse blow. If the board ever fails, I'd just put another type of 12 volt power supply in it for the fan and light. The light is dimmed by the board so it'd need to be a variable 12 VDC power source for the light.

Esperienza deludente con questo illuminatore Amscope : la prima volta mi e' arrivato con lampada non funzionante, ho aperto lo sportellino e l'ho trovata rotta... Amazon Prontamente me lo ha sostituito subito, il rimborso e' arrivato velocemente, quindi ne ho ordinato un'altro, pensando che puo' succedere, il Secondo illuminatore addirittura e' arrivato con lo sportello di accesso lampada con la vite rotta!

Product arrived on time and works well! If there was a way to focus the optic light into a less diffuse beam then it would have been a five star experience!
