Do these speakers need a resonance chamber behind them as you would build for woofers?

It needs that and then some. Not a warm sounding speaker. You really need to not expect much, however the mods and highs are clean. With the chamber and a crossover you will clean up the lows and highs with the high pass out to these. I hope that helps.

Will these fit in a 98 dodge stratus?

Check Sonic Electronix online. You type in the year, make and model and it will tell you the speaker size you need along with its location. I recommend everyone look there first.

Not if you want mid bass or any bass that doesn't distort. You will need a crossover for the high side is worth it. I recommend infinity kappa series for two range or 3 range sound.
