Well, 5 stars for assembly.... after watching the online assembly video on Amazon, it took 2 minutes to assemble. Had only 6 parts. No tools needed. (It took longer to get everything out of the box) 5 stars for basic construction. I got what I thought I was getting... a mesh back, solid office chair. 5 stars for how everything is adjustable. The 'locked' setting was too upright for me. But the first click was closer, and I've gotten used to it. 5 stars for the carpet casters. They fly over my carpet. Very easy. 5 stars because it appears to be high quality and durable. 4 stars for the armrests. A little softer would be better. But, for me, it's not a big deal and there are aftermarket soft arm pads available. 5 stars for the back adjustment. Slides up and down easily. But has little effect. 4 stars for the 'Malt' color. It'll show stains and I have 2 cats. 5 stars for the warranty. I recall it's like 12 years or something. Overall a really, really good chair.

The assembly was not the easiest thing I have ever done, but the end result was well worth the effort. The instructions were clear, but I don't see as well and am not as dexterous as I was 50 years ago. I am very happy with the support, especially the lumbar support, and I can sit much longer without any discomfort. The seat depth lever took me longer to find than it should have, the documentation seemed to show it more in the center than it was, but all the other adjustments were fine as in the docs. The swivel on the armrests is a little looser than I would like, but as I sit in it more the armrests seem to stay more in the same position than they did so it may be just a matter of me finding the position I prefer by letting the rest find its natural landing spot. Unlike my older office chairs, reclining never feels like I might go too far back, and the upright position where the chair normally is for working is as close to ideal as I have ever had. I would say it is well worth the money. It seems well engineered and well built. The fabric seat and mesh back seem as if they would be very durable, but time will tell. The seat is very comfortable and the range of adjustments should be adequate for almost everyone. I have been retired for about 20 years, and this chair is far better than any I had when I was working. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

There is beauty in the simplicity of this chair. Sure, you don't have a million dials and switches on the base for fine tuning, but it hits all the basics and while I initially was taken back by the fact that it only has 3 settings for the backrest support (rigid, firm and soft), I have found that's all that I really need. I should note that mine arrived with more of the assembly done than the Steelcase videos even indicated. For instance, the armrests were already installed and I didn't have to attach the back to the base. Made me wonder if mine was a return, demo or something like that but it appears to be in like new condition. Anyway, I had it all together and adjusted to my liking in all of 5 min. which is great! I feel like this chair corrects a lot of my bad habits w/out being a nag about it. I find myself sitting with improved posture and with proper support at the three key touch points- Arms, back, butt. I would say that if there is a weak link among those three, it'd maybe be at the arms as they sort of vaguely move around laterally sometimes and I find myself sort of resetting them every so often to where I think they should be for me. They also are fairly thin and lightweight so I have some concern about durability but only time will tell there. Steelcase claims the chair can support up to 400lbs, which to me, indicates that it should hold up under the kind heavy daily use that I bought it for as an intensive home office user. Some complaints in reviews I read ahead of purchase were related to the seat cushion being too hard. I would tend to disagree there as I think it strikes a perfect balance of comfort/supportiveness. As with a bed mattress, softer isn't always better in my experience. As for the rest, it feels like an upscale economy chair rather than anything more luxurious with lots of plastic but it's all well-done. I guess for the price paid, that's fair and my wife indicated that she prefers this to any other desk chair that I've brought home thus far. I'd say that's high praise. I think that unless you are willing to go closer to a grand or more, this is a great option- Particularly if you are under 6' tall. If you are larger, you will likely want to add the optional headrest for additional support as the chair back covers me at 5'10" just barely. Otherwise, maybe steer clear of this one, but for the average size adult, it really shines.

Good: Just about everything. Attractive design; easy to assemble; reasonably lightweight; easy to adjust; well-ventilated; comfortable in extended use; good price relative to similar chairs. Bad: The tops of the armrests move forward and back, left and right, very easily, with no way to lock them in place. More annoying than useful. The recliner allegedly has three settings plus lock. I can find no difference in the settings, all three let the back recline with too little pressure. I ended up locking the back in place. Bottom line: This replaced a 30-year-old midrange office chair that was on its last legs. Even allowing for age, the difference in adjustability and "sit" is obvious. Plus, this one doesn't creak every time I move. It isn't an Aeron, but it's closer than the one-third-the-price tag would suggest. I'm happy with it. Five stars.

It is a wonderful chair. Nobody wants to pay $500+ for a chair. Nobody. I have Sciatica which causes my lower butt and upper thigh to burn. I have purchased a $175 office chair in the past, and it did nothing to help. I also have a large stack of butt cushions that promised relief, but I found none. I found a physician’s review online, and they said to specifically purchase this brand, this model chair for help. So I did. What was nice was the assembly or I guess basically no assembly of it. I can’t put anything together! It took me about 5 minutes to do it. I’m a 5’3” plus size lady. I keep the armrests all the way up. I only use just enough gas going up to ensure my feet are both flat on the floor. The wheels get the job done in my carpet. I’ve always struggled sitting in a chair and trying to move forward all the way. Never happened. With this chair, I sit down and immediately scoot it up to the desk with NO issues. I had to move the lumbar bar up a bit from the bottom to get a good feel. The kicker is the back of the chair. It molds and holds you straight up. That’s it. My Sciatica has never once hurt me in this chair. The only issue I’ve found is if I sit for hours in it, my butt cheeks start to numb and ache. I’ve started giving myself more frequent breaks to stand up and walk around, and I do much better. Buy the chair. It is the only one I’ve ever bought that made me happy.

Do not buy this chair. The chair itself is good but the hydraulic on mine is already creeping down as I sit in it. I am 6' and 180;bs, so if you are a big and tall - zero chance this hydraulic lasts a week. It's frustrating because it is not a cheap chair - just the central part of the expensive chair is cheaply made.

Note: As pictured i've added larger carpet casters (not included) - I'd highly recommend these for carpeted offices to avoid having to deal with the hassle of a chair mat. I've tried over a dozen different office chairs, and only 2 or 3 have met my expectations - and this is one of them. A few features that I appreciate: - The armrests have a good range of motion for height adjustments, some chairs the minimum armrest height is too low. These ones go as low as I want, and they are easy to adjust (which I do when I switch tasks from typing to gaming) - The armrests are "free floating" so they move around as your elbows move. Some reviewers complained about this, but I actually like it. - The seat height and angle adjustment is good and easy - set it once and forget it. - The seat cushion is very comfortable - supportive and firm, but not punishing. I can sit in this chair for 12 hours and not get sore (although I wouldn't want to do that often) - The only part I'm not in love with is the back adjustment. It has 3 adjustments for how much tension on the recline function. I'd prefer the infinitely adjustable, or at least more intermediate settings. I've settled on the middle setting, but it still feels maybe 10% too firm, while the loose setting is WAY to unsupportive. Overall very happy - one of the best office chairs I've owned to date. And for the price, as far as premium office chairs go, it's a good value.

TLDR: Expensive chair that didn't provide the comfort/adjustment options needed for a shorter person. Ease in assembly but difficulty in disassembly. I work over 10 hours a day from my home office and was looking for a quality chair that provided comfort and support. I tried this chair for several weeks and I wound up returning it. I'm 5' 3" and still found the chair didn't lower far enough for my feet to hit flat on the floor, which created a pulling in my hips/lower back, even with a foot rest. I adjusted the chair numerous times (lumbar support, seat positioning front/back, arm rests, etc.) The arm rests are not adjustable enough for a shorter individual and I wound up pushing them down all the way because they created such tension in my neck and shoulders. I have a sit/stand desk and from going into the sitting posture, there was a tremendous amount of discomfort in this chair, and not just from the "adjustment period" of trying a new chair. For what I'm looking for, I need in a more expensive model that allows for more adjustment options. The chair does come in parts, but super easy to assemble . However, if you plan to return it, good luck in getting this sucker apart to fit back in the box. The seat comes off easily but the shaft does not come out from the chair portion without significant effort.

Good chair, had it for two months, super easy assembly, a $700 chair in Canada. On the other hand, this chair won several "best of category" awards by major media so it's a good chair and quite comfortable. I am a little worried about how it will hold up, as it seems less sturdy than the Alera Elusion chair (another award winner, $450 in Canada) that I also bought two months ago.

I got the version of this chair (purple) that was much cheaper than other colors and it looks great and is extremely comfortable. My back pain is almost all gone after using this chair for only a couple of weeks. I’m actually buying another one I like it so much. I’m a bigger guy and I feel like I have a decent amount of room even though the chair is fairly compact. Arm rests pop out nicely and are very adjustable and are made from durable but soft material. Do yourself a favor and get this chair.

En general es una muy buena silla, vale lo que cuesta. Su diseño ergonómico la hace muy cómoda para estar sentado varias horas. Muy resistente y construcción robusta. Si estabas buscando comprar una herman miller pero el precio es muy elevado, definitivamente esta es una opción perfecta.
