Awkward Turtle - Adult Party Game with a Dirty Sense of Humor

This game can potentially be hilarious depending on who you play it with, there are some really funny words, and some that are unspeakably difficult depending on the crowd you play it with, it's also very simple. Basically, the way the game is played is via teams, as long as there is more than 1 group of 2 people, you can play, and you play by either you or your team mate drawing a card in secret and not telling the other what the word is, then by hinting to them what it could be without using any of the hint words below the word you select (these words would make guessing the word too easy), you or they begin blurting out words until they or you either get it right or run out of time, if you mess up and just say the word or any of the unauthorized hint words below it, you lose the card and the opposite team gets the points, you also only have 60 seconds for you or your team mate to guess right. Some of the words are rather adult oriented, so this may not be the best game for kids, however its a great little party game for the price and for people who love games like Cards Against Humanity or Never Have I Ever..., a must for camping trips and small vacation excursions. My only complaint is I wish the creators would have made the cards only one sided, your team mate can easily see the other set of words on the other side if they aren't covering their eyes, however, this does make the game more portable, like I said, its only a small complaint, but you essentially get double what you see in total cards, so the bonuses far outweigh the inconvenience, I imagine this also contributes to a cheaper price tag.

Gave this as a gift to a recipient out of state- Due to that fact, I never felt capable of reviewing the product. Craziest thing… almost a year later, when we went On vacation and met up for dinner at the house I sent this too..(can you follow that..?!) to my happy surprise- they were all playing awkward turtles!! Yep, the game I had sent to them almost a year prior!! (could have been contrived Sure-but, from the wear and tear on the game… I knew they had been using it all along.) Of course, we went to have Dinner with the adults at the house.. But, their group of teen/20+ yr olds were laughing hysterically in the other room having “game night“ and I promise, they were having way more fun than we were!! I peaked in on the gameplaying and the concept looked pretty straightforward. Basically, divided into two teams… One member has an awkward word and tries to describe it to their team- if guessed correctly they get points! And the game sort of back-and-forths from there… Funny, quirky, annoying, cringe worthy, racy words all make up the options.. These kids were playing the game when we arrived- 2hr. Later we left... And they were still playing! (No! Not the same round but, plenty of rounds and all entertained long enough to still be having fun hours later.) To me, this is the best type of endorsement one can have… Seeing a game in action and hearing the laughter as it was being played. This told me all I needed to know… The game was a hit for the crowd at hand- it kept them happily playing for hours. Combined it with the ease of which it takes to “learn” the game.. And you’ve got a winner in my book!

Warning, this is a Rated R Review! I bought this game for my best friend because we were having a group game night at her house, and we were not disappointed. The game is hilarious! It is definitely embarrassing, and a lot of personal stories will end up coming out. Example: The word was “Masturbate” and the clue someone gave was “This is something that I think you do way too much”. Ha ha. Another example is the word “Squirt” and someone said “You once thought I did this, but it was really just the skylight dripping on you!” The game made everyone laugh way too hard. The only reason I am deducting a star is that once you have played this game a couple times you easily can guess the words since there are not a ton of cards. I wish the set was larger : (

This is a game you don’t want to play with your whole family, unless your family is like mine! My family consists of 4 adult children, their spouses, and their parents. We’re a close, laid back, extremely sarcastic family that can find humor in ANYTHING. Brought this out after thanksgiving dinner and we had way more fun with it than I thought we would. Of course, there was alcohol involved which prevented a couple peoples filters, but still one of the funniest family game nights we’ve had. Watching my father’s reaction to my youngest sisters knowledge of some of these words, while my mom sits there with a clueless look on her face was priceless. Would definitely recommend.

It is a fun game, but there are a things that could be better. I think for what you get about $8 would be a fair price, maybe $10 at the most. Positives: - It's a fun creative vocabulary game - can be played with as little as two people - can be played anywhere (where you won't offend people with language). We took this on a road trip with three adults and while the driver couldn't be the clue giver the driver could easily participate in answering. Negatives: - It's over priced - It requires a pretty good vocabulary from all players (some people in our group clearly didn't enjoy the game as much as others dude to vocabulary challenges) - It can get boring. A little minute sand timer or countdown buzzer would help the play ability a lot. There were a couple times when it was obvious no one was going to guess the word but we kept going for 3-4 minutes because everyone forgot to watch the clock. Before two long this makes us stop playing and do something else. I think the longest game was still under an hour. - There are also not a lot of cards (considering a retail price of $25), and I could see how it would loose interest to replay this game, but we've never played it often enough to hit that point yet.

This is a great game to play with a group of friends (some words are a little naughty, so beware)... it's like Taboo crossed with Cards Against Humanity. Although the directions state "no gestures" - - sometimes it's just more fun to allow that (think pointing to a body part). One way to improve this game would be to have 4 different heading colors (it currently has 1 black & 1 green on each side), that way it would be easier to tell which words you've already used / played with. Have fun!

Ease to play and laughed for hours. Great game for the price.

We played last week and LOVED this game. We had 6 adults, ages 28 to 63 and we were all laughing so hard we were crying. The game is easy to play, convenient to bring with us when we travel, fun for all adult ages, and so much fun. Sort of like Taboo, describe the top word without saying the words listed underneath it. Some of the words are super raunchy, some are super random, but all of them will make you laugh.

I was really expecting a lot more, but it is an okay adult version of taboo.
