LOVE THE NEEDLE THREADER!
Purchased the GX37 machine because it was less expensive than getting my old basic Singer repaired! Amazon apparently combines the reviews for model GX37 and LM2701, although the LM2701 is several years older, has fewer functions, includes fewer accessories, and is $23 more expensive. Seemed liked a no-brainer to go with the cheaper, newer model GX37, which comes with more options and accessories. I am glad I did! I’ve been sewing a long time but usually only basic things—hems, face masks, seam repairs, drapes, etc. Don’t usually use the fancy stitches or make buttonholes. I was able to unpack the GX37, follow the sticker guides right on the machine to thread it and immediately sew a practice seam without reading any instructions or watching the video. It’s pretty easy to figure out if you’ve used a sewing machine before. It comes with a bobbin already threaded and inserted, and with a 90/14 needle (for medium weight fabric) already installed. So all you need to do is thread the top thread and you’re ready to go! The machine produces perfectly “balanced” seams—meaning the tension is perfect with no puckering or pulling. I took some photos to show you. Very easy to use this machine! What I don’t like is minor: (1) The built-in storage compartment at the front of the machine - when you slide it out to remove it, all the stuff inside falls out because it is shaped more like a “bookcase” (open on one side) instead of a “bin”. That is not a handy way of storing extra stuff like bobbins. (2) The LED light is a little too dim. (3) Raising the presser foot feels a little awkward—it’s a plastic lever that flips out to the side. Every machine have ever owned has had a metal lever that flips “up” toward the back of the machine. (4) To change the needle, you need a screwdriver. They provide a dime-sized tool that serves as a screwdriver. To me, that is just something I’ll have to look for when I need to change the needle, and something to lose. It would be better to just turn a knob with your finger to change the needle. Overall, I think this is a great machine at a very reasonable price, and it includes many very nice features including 74 stitch functions and 37 built in stitches. I was so excited about the needle threader, that I immediately did it three times! As I get older and it’s harder to see to thread a needle, that is a VERY HANDY feature indeed! Both models GX37 and XM2701 come with the needle threader. It does not come with a case—but no sewing machine I have ever owned came with one. It fits fine in my old universal sewing machine case. It does come with a dust cover but I can’t see using that because I would probably not leave the sewing machine out. Overall, I am REALLY pleased with this sewing machine. What a great buy, and easy to use with *clearly written* instructions. Thank you BROTHER! UPDATE: I like this sewing machine so much, that when my daughter-in-law said she would like to have a sewing machine for her birthday, I bought her the same one! I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that my review helped you!

3rd Time's a Charm
Third time's a charm! This model, GX37, is a KEEPER - quiet motor, no rattles, smooth operation. Easy to thread, stitches are perfect! Couldn't be happier (knock on wood). I first ordered the Brother XM2701. Had high hopes for it but the bottom stitching was full of loops and pulls. Tried to remedy the problem but the manual was no help at all. Went to youtube for advice, rethreaded the top a few times making sure all was perfect, adjusted the tension but to no avail. Bye-bye XM2701. Second try was the Singer M3300 - clunky, rattly, noisy motor, very hard to turn the hand-wheel (ridiculous), also not the easiest machine to thread but what was most frustrating was the tangled bobbin mess that constantly brought sewing a simple seam to a halt. No rhyme or reason for it. Saw other reviewers mentioning the same problem. Off to Return Land it went. So glad I didn't give up. Happy with Brother GX37

Works great
Love this! We needed it to shorten an awning. Worked great. Easy to use, although you must read what the dials are for if you're not a seamstress. Watch YouTube videos. Not too heavy. I didn't mind the cost. You can do so much with it. Definitely value for money. This is the Brother GX37. We bought waxed thread to use for awning and machine had no problems. It may be small but it is mighty.

Brothers makes a pretty good product
This is the second brother’s sewing machine that I have gotten. My first one was heavier, so this one is better when you can’t lift the weight you used to. I dropped it a star because the tray for storing the items is not situated the best, and some of the things will fall out the back.. It’s nice to have extra items that came with it and a cover to keep it from getting all dusty.

Easy machine to set up
I just received this Brother GX37 last night. I have not used it for any sewing projects, yet, but will do an update later. Right now, I wanted to remark of a couple of things that I discovered while setting it up. First of all, keep the manual by your side. It is easy to check various proceedures as you set up. My previous machine was a Brother Project Runway and I was certain that I knew the simple stuff but this GX37 does things a little differently. One is the top tension for winding the bobbin. The thread crosses itself in a way I didn't expect. Also, at first, I thought the spool pin was poorly designed because it was too short for my 300 yard thread spools. Then, on page 15 of the manual, while checking on how to wind the bobbin, there was a picture on how to extend the spool pin to its proper position. OK. A good reminder that sewing machine designs can vary, even within the same brand! The throat of this GX37 is slightly larger than my old machine. It measures 6" long and 4 1/2" high. My older one was 4 1/2" long and 4 1/2" high. I do a lot of art quilts and the extra space will help a lot. UPDATE: I have used the machine several times since getting it and am pleased with its performance. It is extremely easy to thread. My old machine was a major pain because the thread take up lever was so hard to get to and I often spent up to 5 mins--and a lot of cussing--trying to get the thread settled into it. This GX37 is a breeze. I don't have to think about what I am doing, it just happens. Also, the machine chugs along through multiple layers like a work horse. The reverse stitch lever is nice, too. My old machine would only stitch once backward. That was so frustrating when I needed to back track a few steps. This one will let me stitch backward as much as I want. The GX37 is simple and basic but I don't need any more than that so I am quite happy.

Good for a beginner, easy to use!
Needed a new sewing machine when mine unexpectedly resigned. Bought this one for the price, reviews, time to get here and partially the purple colour. So far so good! It works like a charm, love the way the bobbin sits, it never gets jammed unlike my old one where it was much more complicated and you couldn't see the bobbin once it was in. This sewing machine is not for heavy duty work, it's a very simple machine and can't quilt or anything like that. I've used it to make doll clothes, a blanket and plan to make clothes for myself. No issue with it thus far. The price felt fair, I also had a coupon for some $80off. Stores around me sell machines for a lot more and I would have to transit home with it, so Amazon was my best option to get one in soon and I had free shipping. Overall I'd recommend this for beginner/casual sewists, it's also great for younger teens as it's very simple to understand. It's cute, compact, works well and is worth the cost in my opinion.

Look good, wrong power supply
Can't use it ATM, as was sent with a US power supply for UK use. Had to purchase a correct supply at additional cost £30/45usd. Not happy. On a plus note arrived 5 days early. Looks like a great machine though. Hopefully update on functions when correct power supply arrives

GX-37 is a well designed, easy to use sewing machine
I like the simplicity of design and operation. I am impressed by automatic needle threading mechanism. The machine is very light and easy to carry. It does simple straight stiches to 37 other patterns, easily accessible through dials. Stich length and width dials are easy to use. Instructions are fair, but could be improved by adding foot number for the type of stich. Once fully familiarized with the parts and the controls, it will be a joy to use this machine. Yes, I forgot about the visible bottom bobbin. It's a great feature, as I can see the amount of thread remaining. And no oiling, as they have used permanent lubricants. Highly recommended for novice or pro. We have sewed a variety of regular and very light fabrics using regular and metallic threads and found absolutely no problems.
