Perfect beginning loom
When my interest in weaving was first piqued - in a small loom store in New Orleans - I decided to look for a weaving class when I returned home. With nothing nearby, I went online and watched countless YouTube videos for ideas. I built a simple loom using picture frame parts from a hobby store and bought a variety of yarns of different textures. For several months, I "played" and experimented, always returning to the internet to find new ideas and help with problems I encountered. I eventually met a weaver at an art gallery who offered a few helpful tips, too. Throughout it all, I spent a fair amount of time looking online at - and dreamed about buying - "a real loom." After researching and several months of experimenting on my frame loom, I finally decided to go for it. I had chose an Ashford loom and haven't had a moment of regret since it arrived. I wasn't disappointed by the need to wax the pieces before assembly, as I knew it was going to be part of getting my new loom up and running. Instead, I made it an enjoyable task, my way of bonding, if you will, with my loom. I sat out on our deck and listened to good music while I applied the wax. I had few problems assembling the loom, and finally was ready to start! I will admit that warping the loom the first time was a bit of a challenge, and took me quite a while as I had to keep checking the instructions. But the nice thing is that between the booklet that came with the loom and the video online by Ashford, it's do-able! And each time I warp my loom now, I get a little faster and more confident. I don't know how complicated I will get with my weaving, but I know there is a whole lot that you can do with a rigid heddle loom, and couldn't be happier with mine!

Love it!
A great table loom. Easy to assemble, easy to use. Instructions for assembly and use are clear. Perfect for middle sized projects that are bigger than a scarf and smaller than an adult blanket. Works great for scarves and runners. The heddle included is good for worsted and DK yarns. Warning: you may develop an addiction to yarn.

Love this loom!
I love this loom! I did lightly sand it with the included sandpaper and waxed it before I put it together. Since then, I have waxed it again just because I wanted to add to the finish. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the loom was no problem to assemble. It works just as advertised and I have already finished two scarves and have a third one on the loom. It sits easily between my lap and my coffee table, allowing me to weave in the living room. It is small enough to store easily but big enough to weave larger projects. Everything you need is included except for yarn.

Great loom for beginners, easy to get started
The assembly took longer than I anticipated, but once this loom is put together, it's so easy to get started weaving. Being able to direct warp on this loom is great, and as a beginner, I've really appreciated the simplicity and speed with which I can get a project started. I've made several beautiful wraps on this loom already (and one massively long scarf, oops) and have plans for several more. Further, this loom is, in my opinion, just the right size for a beginner. You can make a nice wrap or table runner, without being overwhelmed in needing to warp more than 24" in width.

Love my Ashford loom
I've have had my loom a little over a month now and done 4 projects so far. My dad put it together for me. I couldn't do it. Came with excellent step by step written and picture insructions. Took about 1+1/2 hrs to put together. I also got the stand which I highly recommend if you can swing the purchase. Makes all the difference when warping and weaving. This is a very nice, well made loom. Keep in mind it comes unfinished (stand too) so that's a job for to do when you get it. My dad refinished it for me before he put it together. It does take up some space (I got the 24") so you need to plan for that too especially if you get the stand. I am very happy though with my purchase and new found hobby.

Easy to use
So let me say I love my loom after it was set up. It took about 45 minutes to put together by hand. There are some pros and cons. Pro's: easy to use, just watch some YouTube videos. I was able to make a scarf within 4 hours the first day. The seller was awesome they responded asap. Cons: Took about 45 minutes to put together which is fine but was not stable. Needed power tool to screw all the way. Second, The pamphlet with instructions show ALL screws, not just for 24" loom which was confusing. After reading through directions several times I realize that they also mentioned screws for a larger loom and I did not need them. Overall for a first time weaver I love it.

Ashford Weaving 24" Loom and Stand
I just finished assembling the 24" loom and stand, waxing all the wooden parts beforehand, as suggested. I consider myself an advanced assembler of odd equipment, but it took me more than an hour to do so - more like three hours total for the stand and loom, not counting waxing and letting things dry. This is not a complaint, but one reviewer mentioned it assembled in an hour, and I don't want others to expect that simple of an operation. Keep in mind that I read everything with great care (this is for my wife!) and thought it all through before I did anything. Note that the "stand" instructions show where to drill four holes in the sides of the loom. These are for the four screws and knobs that hold the loom to the stand. These holes were ALREADY drilled in the sides of my loom, so don't fret as I did... There is a rung at the bottom of the stand that has two holes and uses two cotter pins. The rung just lays on top of the stand's bottom runners. The pins just drop into the holes that are closest to the center of the runners. It took me a while, but I think this allows one to disassemble the stand into two side pieces and two wooden rungs. This all lays flat, possible for storage or transportation. They don't say, but it looks like that's what's intended. I don't know what the other two sets of holes in the runners are for... Overall this is a very nice little loom, and so far my wife is thrilled with it. No problems with the "plastic gears" yet, but we have the stand, and we wouldn't move the loom without it. The gears, clicker pins and levers seem to be a solid construction, so I doubt there would be any problems even if we did. The instructions for assembling the gear system is complex, which might cause problems if not followed exactly.
