New Wave u.go Plein Air | Anywhere Pochade Box, 6"x8"x1.18" Inches, Plein Air Easel, Painting Easel, Art Easel

I extensively researched plein air pochade boxes for some time. I decided to go with the ugo system and I couldn’t be happier. Its design is better than the custom system I made for myself (I didn’t want to invest a lot of money in a pochade box until I was sure I would like plein air painting). The magnets hold everything very well, including the side extension (I like the side extension so well I bought a second one later). The hinges hold firmly - tight enough for wind resistance, but loose enough to open with minimal effort. The extra large rubber bands and light carabiner provide a handy hanger for my solvent pot. This is an excellent product worth investing in providing stability and reliability superior to other products, in my opinion. The product is relatively light and packs up well in my backpack, including the side extensions and all my other supplies. I would strongly encourage considering the purchase of this product for all plein air painters.

Love this mini u.go easel. Works nicely with my u.go tripod I use for my larger u.go easel. It’s so lightweight and compact, that I took it to do a Gouache painting of a waterfall. It fit in my small lightweight backpack so I could hike with it to the bottom of the falls.

Best of the range of outdoor easels I have used. Use it all the time now. Lightweight, easy to set up, sturdy. Good accessories. Really like using it

It's certainly a high quality set, feels super nice, magnetic system is solid, and hinges are super firm making it very stable. I do think it's slightly overpriced, I found some bubbles in the finish, and the birch wood is only a veneer (still feels nice though). I bought the side holders and tripod also. I don't think anyone would be dissatisfied with it albeit paying for the brand name a little.

Absolutely love this pochade box. The quality is amazing and very sturdy. Would definitely recommend over other pochade boxes. I got the biggest size. The smallest size i feel they didn't put as much care into...

It's nice. I couldn't decide between small or large so I got both. I find them both to be pretty handy depending on how large/heavy I want my carry bag to be. I still need to buy the extending piece so I can use for bigger canvas. For watercolor it's nice that the magnet holds my paint tin and it folds flat to be a table (which works better for watercolors often). I'm going to try them with oils soon. Looking forward to using oils outside where the fumes are less toxic. The only thing I don't like is the large metal sticking off the box making it harder to fit in a bag, I have to worry about the metal scratching other objects or the bag. Also it does not seem to be functional, so that's pretty dumb imo. Pricey but sturdy. Wish there was room inside to store my flat ceramic palette so it would be protected. Pretty much no room inside, I find. But lovely quality anyway.

I deliberated for a couple of months before making the decision to buy. It was a choice of this, a Richeson Sienna or a range of much cheaper options from Meeden. In the end it was a toss up between this large Ugo pochade or the Sienna. The cost of both are comparable by the time you buy the glass pallete and two side trays. The various reviews citing some concerns over quality inspection made me cautious but I needn’t have worried. The build and material quality is more than worth the cost. I was also worried that this might not be big enough, particularly the palette but it’s more than big enough. I’vevattached it to my old camera tripod without any issues and it feels very stable although I might still invest in a heavier tripod at a later date. It is a lot of money but well worth it. I’m in two minds whether I need to get the glass palette as it will add weight but good to know that I can easily swap it out when needed. As you can see from the photos, it has a firm grip on my acrylic paper pad. I’ll report back later once it’s been used but so far very very pleased and glad that I went with this over other options. *update* I’ve since bought the glass palette and side tray which improves and already amazing product. The glass palette adds weight but the side tray is very light. I went with K&F concept tripod in preference to Ugo branded which is £100 cheaper and higher spec.
