This product gives my shakes a perfect, thick, rich, creamy smoothness without impacting the flavor generated by the other ingredients. Also, it is not sweet and is relatively low in calories. Where have you been all my life!?!?

My husband had neck surgery and had the expected difficulty swallowing for a couple of weeks - I found this product about a week after the surgery and it has worked really well. Very surprised (and disappointed) the surgeon’s office didn't recommend this - would have made that first week quite a bit easier I think.

I've used this for several months for my elderly mother with dysphagia, and it made a big difference! She was having more and more trouble swallowing as her dysphagia got worse, and was therefore eating, and drinking less. This is not too hard to mix. Just make sure you pour it into the liquid slowly while stirring the liquid; otherwise you will get clumps. Then you have to let it stand for 1 minute if the liquid is just water, or 4 minutes if it's something like juice, or a watery soup. Finally, once mixed you have to use it within 30 minutes (I think the consistency changes after that - nothing bad, just that for dysphagia, the consistency has to be just right). The problem some people will encounter is that the consistency is not what you might expect; it is grainy. My mom had no problems with this at first, but as her dysphagia got worse, this became a deal breaker. She was having more and more trouble with the grainy consistency. I mean, when you mix it to create pudding consistency, you'd expect something as smooth as pudding, and this is NOT going to get you that. Also, for my mom with dementia, she was taking longer than 30 minutes to eat or drink, so I had to stop midway, mix up some more, and continue feeding. This thickener is corn starch based, which is the reason why you won't get a smooth texture no mater how hard and long you mix it (maybe in a blender, but that would make it very inconvenient to use like that all the time). I just wish someone had told me there was a MUCH better alternative to this. I never even thought to look, since I thought this was it. Find a Xanthan Gum based thickener if the graininess is an issue for you. This brand also sells thickeners that are Xanthan Gum based, and there are other brands that do as well. They are more expensive of course. BUT, they are much easier to mix, you don't have to use it within 30 minutes, and they are COMPLETELY smooth.

Have used this before for my elderly mom. Made eating soups and such much easier. I like to add it to my soups, stews, graves etc. A little goes a long way and makes swallowing much easier, especially if you have a cold or are getting up in age

Much cheaper than having the nursing home buy it and bill me!
