Strong signal even through floors and walls
Although this was one of the cheaper options available have been really impressed with this WiFi extender, it was very easy to set up, and there are plenty of configuration options whether youโre a complete beginner or someone who likes to tweak settings. You can rename the extenderโs WiFi network and even give it a different password from your main router, which is handy for security when youโre extending the signal further out.One feature I really like is how it automatically switches between 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or both at the same time depending on traffic and signal quality. It does it in the background and you donโt have to think about it. The signal strength LEDs are useful too for spotting any issues, was slightly concerned about getting a range extender that didn't utilise 'powerline' but even without this feature I havenโt had any problems with connection signal whatsoever.Iโm using this to boost the signal range from a TalkTalk router on a different floor and the opposite side of the building around 30 meters away - through one floor and four walls and itโs been completely stable and reliable.

Good, easily disguisable, functional wifi extender - easy'ish to install.
Purchased to extend signal in a traditional built house, where wifi just did not extend to all parts.I'd choosen this extender as it was smaller and less intrusive than others. Due to be placed in socket on the wall of my hall landing i didn't want anything that 'stood out like a sore thumb'. This sits neatly and non obviously to the extent you wouldn't know it was there unless you really looked. Exactly what i was looking forInstall is easy enough, however found it did take a little time. Once complete, up and running with easeThis product certainly does extend the signal, to those areas it did not do before. On occasion, the signal does drop despite no obvious reason. I don't find it a major issue though, when it drops, it back up and running with a second or 2.Overall it's a great product, easily disguisable yet functional, for a good price.

Best Budget Extender for Xbox!
Hey guys!when I was looking for a WiFi extender on Amazon, I couldnโt find a great many reviews for this particular model and because Iโm so pleased with the results with this extender I thought it would be beneficial to others faced with all the other alternatives on the market in this price range. This is the second WiFi extender I have purchased as the first one I went for was suboptimal in various ways and most crucially, it wasnโt IVP6 compatible, which is a must for online gaming as without that you will not have stable ping.I live in a three storey Victorian house several floors away from the router, and an Ethernet cable set up wasnโt really a viable option. This Extender comes with a great app which is quick, clear and easy to navigate with a much superior interface than my previous extender. The set up is quick and easy, the WPS method didnโt work for me but through the app was a piece of cake. One of the best things about this kit is that you do not need to be very tech savvy to use it.I also recommend updating the firmware, through the app, you can monitor all connected devices there and see whether they are utilising 2.4 GHz or 5. Despite my Victorian walls, I was able to get 5GHz which was extremely pleasing and the app will also till you if the extender is placed in an optimum location.Iโve included a photo of my download speed test here and you can see how stable my connection is and also note no packet loss and good upload speed as well. This extender has TRIPLED MY download speed in my room and now it almost matches what the speed would be upstairs close to the router.I do not have super fast broadband so cannot comment on how it performs in higher speeds, however for this price, you cannot go wrong. This is a reputable and renowned company and Iโm sure if anything were to go wrong the customer service would be fine too.The general build quality is solid and unassuming, LEDs can be switched off, my only disappointment being that my unit didnโt come with an Ethernet socket, although this is available in other models. If you are a gamer like me, this is the extender for you! Pro tip, make sure both IVP6 and IPV4 and enabled and you manually port forward. Iโve had the most stable ping doing this, (18 on average) no more lag, no more getting booted out of servers!Iโve only had this Extender a day, but if anything changes i will consider it a duty to update this review to reflect that, however exceeding pleased thus far!9/10Benjamin

Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy
I recently encountered a situation whereby my router was being switched off by a terror-toddler which necessitated router relocation, and due to the placement of the Virgin Media cable this could only be to a far corner of our home.During winter this was fine as we weren't spending much time in the garden at the other end of the house, but now warmer weather has arrived things have changed and I'm finding that the WiFi is dropping out when sitting outside. This device was purchased for just over twenty Great British Pounds and is a bargain when compared to a new AX router or mesh system.I'm a gadget-lover and have never had trouble with such things, that has to be noted. From removing the product from its box, it was plugged in and the status light was flashing, a five second journey to the router and a push of the WPS button, then back again to push the same button on the device and one by one the lights for 2.4 and 5ghz also lit up and remained solid. No more than 30 seconds and two (my RT AC 3200 has one 2.4 and two 5ghz radios) extended WiFi connections appeared in the list of available networks on my phone suffixed with _EXT and simply required entry of the existing WPA2 password. It automatically extended the 2.4ghz and the first 5ghz radios.Signal is now strong in the garden, it has a Blink Mini camera, Netatmo, Blink Studio, Chromecast Ultra connected to it and its all flawless. It uses about two watts according to my IHD.As for any bad reviews, I would say as with any networking equipment, know what your requirements are and research because it's not one size fits all.If your house is mahoosive you're going to need more than one or a dedicated multi point mesh system. If your house has walls like Fort Knox, the 5ghz band from this won't pass through them any easier than the 5ghz band from your router. If you want OneMesh, you also require a OneMesh router. If you run a hotel, a small consumer device isn't what you require for your guest WiFi system. For what I need, it's perfect, it's cheap, it took 30 seconds to get up and running without any apps or setup other than plugging it in and pushing two WPS buttons. I'm on Virgin 200mb, as per the photo I get almost full speed sitting a few metres away from the device. If you have an AC band router, averaged size house and want to extend your network slightly, this is for you. If you live in Buckingham Palace and want to extend your network to the drawing room 400 metres away, probably not.

Useful boost, but too many connection drops
The TP-Link RE300 is a decent WiFi extender that does improve coverage in weaker areas of the house, but my experience has been mixed overall. Setup was fairly straightforward, and when it is working properly, the extra range is noticeable for everyday browsing and streaming. However, Iโve had recurring connectivity issues, including occasional dropouts, slower speeds at times, and trouble reconnecting smoothly after brief interruptions. Because it helps in some situations but isnโt consistently reliable, Iโd give it 3 stars rather than a higher rating.

Excellent WiFi extender from TP-Link.
Excellent WiFi extender from TP-Link.This is a self contained WiFi repeater/extender that works flawlessly. It's my first piece of TP-Link network gear and after a little research, this seemed to be one of the items I kept coming back to.It's a plain white box with 4 LED indicators along the bottom showing power, link status and which of the WiFi signals is currently connected and being forwarded from this device ( 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz )After reading the large instruction sheet, it seemed pretty straighforward and it was. I opted to use the Android app. called ' Tether '. After creating a Login & Password, it's as easy as following the on-screen prompts on your phone. As long as you have the router password and know the SSID you're golden. I was up and running with a phone and a tablet out in the back garden, a long way from the router wifi source with a decently strong signal. It's way stronger and faster than the previous Netgear repeater, by no less than six times faster and a full strong signal strength.I've been using it all afternoon since setting it up and have no issues at all.It is very unobtrusive and has no external antenna like the outgoing Netgear model which is a big plus, it's very lightweight and runs fairly cool. There's a little heat when under load, but barely noticeable and nothing to be concerned with. The LEDs are plain warm white when all is working well, and may change to red if there's an issue. It appears to be a fit and forget device which I appreciate.Overall, I'm extremely impressed with my first TP-Link device and really is great value for money.

Useless, waste of money.
Waste of money. Constantly having to restart the unit as it disconnects from the network for no reason (itโs well within range of the router). It was bought to extend the wifi signal to the back garden so I can use Sonos speakers if Iโm out there, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. If Iโm in the house and my phoneโs still connected to the extender my Sonos app then doesnt see the speakers in the rest of the house that are connected to the router!

Exactly what I needed โ great coverage and dead simple to set up
Bought this back in February and have been really happy with it ever since. Setup took maybe two minutes โ plugged it in, hit the WPS button, and it connected straight away. No app required, no fiddling around. The difference in signal strength was immediately noticeable. I had a couple of dead spots in my flat that are now fully covered, and the connection is stable rather than dropping in and out like before. The Gigabit port is a nice bonus โ I have a desktop plugged in via ethernet through the repeater and the speeds are excellent. Much better than relying on wireless alone. For the price, this is genuinely hard to beat. I was half-expecting a budget device to feel like one, but the RE550 has been solid and reliable for nearly two months now with zero issues. Would recommend without hesitation.
