It’s a plastic bottle. Gorgeous flavour especially in hot chocolate.

Can I use this for a black forest cake in replacement of kirsch liqueur?

I don't know. But as this is basically a flavoured sugar syrup I don't see why not. The flavour is certainly good enough. I have only ever used this in coffee so I can't pretend to be an expert. Hope this helps.

Is there meant to be froth on top?

It's a syrup to flavour your drink it doesn't make a froth hope this is useful.
