Great Expansion Pack Option
I'm a perpetual deal-hunter, so when Prime Day arrived, I was scoping out all of the things I had been meaning to buy anyway. More train tracks for my two young girls were on the list. I was excited about this set because it had a lot of basics to make a variety of track configurations. When the package arrived, I was pleased as I took out the tracks that all of the pieces were consistent in quality--you don't always get that. There is a good variety of all the different kinds of tracks you would want too. Depending on you child, you may get away with buying this and a few trains. I already had a small set and a few trains I had purchased second-hand, so this was the perfect addition to our track collection. My girls have been playing with them a few weeks now and even with a few being tight, they fit extremely well together and have withstood the constant banging/throwing/chewing that happens with young kids. I'll even plan to bring a few of these to work with me (I work in an elementary school) since they are pretty hardy. Overall, I think this is a good expansion set that functions well and is well-made. I'd definitely recommend!

Lots of wooden tracks for a great price. Quality is good, though not perfect.
Wow - this train set is awesome! So many pieces that my 3-year-old is not yet able to use them all at the same time. (Actually, we covered over half the living room floor with these, and there were still more pieces!) Particularly helpful are the rising tracks and the bridge supports - you can build some very intricate structures with this set. In terms of quality, this isn't quite as good as I've seen with Thomas wooden tracks, but it is fully compatible. A few of the track pieces are slightly thicker than others, and the curves are at a slightly different angle than other sets, so there are a few more "derailments" when my son plays with this set. He finds it a bit frustrating, but the overall size of the set and the generally good quality of the pieces more than makes up for this. So if your child loves trains, I highly recommend this as a major expansion - it's the cheapest per-piece set I could find, and it easily provides four or five times more track pieces than one of the medium-sized Thomas sets we purchased before. Granted, there are no "extras" (or trains, for that matter), but what I really wanted my son to have was the vast expanse of tracks. We can make signs and buildings out of Legos or cardboard, but you can't substitute the tracks.

Buy this track collection and some trains instead of a "train set"
This track set is perfect! For very young train enthusiasts starting out with their first trains, I would recommend getting this track set and some trains instead of a ready made set. This same company offers a 12 piece train set for a very reasonable price, together you will have many more options and much more fun than a regular starter set, and all for a much better total price for what you get. The pieces in this set offer so many layout possibilities. For very young children, I do not recommend elevated ramps, they will get knocked over too easily. This set does include a small see through tunnel that young children will enjoy. Also, sets that include extraneous pieces like houses, trees, etc. aren't going to be appreciated by the youngest kids, they just want to push trains around the track! These tracks are very well made from quality wood, no flaws, very consistent connections. This great assortment of pieces will allow you to create simple to complicated interconnected railroad layouts. As your child grows you can buy more track to allow your railroads to grow accordingly. These tracks should offer years of fun!

Honda quality at a Hyundai price!
Off all the toy purchases, in fact, of all the purchases I have made on Amazon, this is by far the best one in regards to affordability and quality. At this price point and for all the great pieces, this deal simply cannot be beat. I don't think you can find this set anywhere else at this price. It alone makes me happy to be a loyal Amazon Prime member year after year. There are some wonderful deals on Amazon and eBay for wooden trains and track sets. I especially search eBay for USED sales/auctions. You just have to spend some time to research and compare prices and quality. It can be frustrating, but the time spent is well worth the significant dollars saved. NOTE: When doing eBay searches, only search for USED items. The new items listed are oddly way overpriced compared to Amazon and many are knock-off items from China that do not meet quality control standards. Also, for used items, be aware of the lead paint recalls that happened some years ago for the Thomas RC2 models. 90% of them involved red paint, and some yellow paint official products. Red paint color vibrancy and durability is hard/expensive to do and lead helps it adhere it better, and thus makes it cheaper. So, be mindful of that. Ok, back to this set. The orange risers, blocks and tracks are ingenious and plentiful. THIS ALONE MAKES THE PURCHASE WORTH IT. My son loves them. They are stable and adds a unique look to the sets which we like a lot. The vast amount of pieces and unique shapes makes this set well thought out and all encompassing. It is like a 425 piece Craftsman toolbox for trains. Can't find a piece that fits? Just search a bit harder and there it is! The female/female and male/male connector pieces alone are a godsend for complex track and building designs. The plentiful 3.5" curved piece are especially critical if you are building sets on a 49" x 34" type standard train table with lots of big structures. QUALITY? Well. What do you want? Yes, you can spend more for the arguably better Official Thomas & Friends tracks. But to do so, you would realistically be paying Ferrari prices for Honda quality, to get them. Why not just simply spend your Hyundai* dollars on a purchase that is fairly close, or possibly better than Honda quality that will give you years and years of memories and fun. *I don't own a Hyundai, but a lot of friends do. They love them and so would I if they brought he Elantra wagon (i40 Estate in Europe) to the US market. :) when you can find deals like this on Amazon, just walking into Toy$RUs, makes me shudder when I see their prices, especially considering the fact they are now the official retailer of the Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Wooden Train line, egads. Things will only get worse from now, in regards to higher retail prices. The ingenious and plentiful orange risers and unique pieces are just a joy to play with. My son is 2 years old and he loves it. The quality is very good. Not perfect, but I am very satisfied FOR THE PRICE.

Rough, Splitting Peices
I bought this track expansion kit as one of several Easter presents for our son, so that we could build bigger, better, more awesome train track configurations. We have Melissa & Doug and Maxim trains. I did check, and both types of trains work on these tracks, and they will interlock with my Melissa & Doug track pieces. So I did go through all 56 of these pieces, and there are a few quality control issues. I have pictured the three pieces with the worst amount of damage. One of the pieces is not just entirely unsanded, but the wood is kind of chewed up in an odd way that makes it rough. One of the pieces has splitting occurring on it, and the third has unsanded and chewed up edges that cover part of the piece and not the whole piece. So there are a lot of pieces in this set, and the reality is functional play is still something we're working on with our son (he has global developmental delays). He does help some with the building, but there is now way in anywhere he would have the patience for us to use this many pieces right now, probably not for a good while. So it's not a big deal to have a few pieces that aren't so useable. I would say they're not useable for us because he tends to chew on these things, though I do discourage him, and I really don't want him to get a splinter in the mouth. It would be upsetting for him, and it would be nearly impossible to reason with him past the sensory side to get him to hold still while I pulled it out, so he'd need to be held down by multiple people to get that job done. So from my perspective, it's better these go in the trash because it's not worth the risk. I'd say they'd be less useable for you because the roughness could affect how the train moves across it. The others seem standard enough, but it does seem to be a cautionary tale. None of my Melissa & Doug train tracks have those kinds of issues whatsoever, they are smooth and consistently sanded all the way through. If it could happen to 3 of my pieces, theoretically the number could be higher for you. You just won't know, so it's a risk you'll have to decide on whether or not you want to take. I'd rate it lower, but since it's only three pieces in our set, it doesn't effect our usage all that much. But if it were a higher number, it certainly would.

Perfect Wooden Train Tracks!
These wooden train tracks are perfect! They fit nicely and are compatible with other wooden train tracks and make it possible for my little guy to build train tracks all over the house. They are made out of high quality wood and have endured being used alot! I highly recommend these tracks if you are looking to add to your train building collection.

Adds lots of fun to a dayโs training activities
Weโve been having fun with this set for a few weeks. The set is being added to other train track sets weโve had for a long time. We were happy to have more pieces to let us lay track to rooms further and further away, but even more thrilling is the unique extras included with the set. The risers are a big plus. They can be used to create one huge hill, or they can be set up to rise and fall in short hills. A special cross-track is our kidsโ favorite place to start. This two-piece item lets two tracks crisscross with each other. Itโs a major addition! The curved risers are works of art. I donโt know how these curved pieces are created, but they make for a lot of train fun when in use. Weโve havenโt seen anything like this in any of the other sets weโve added previously. Included are some great new and unique pieces, some favorite but familiar ones, and everything is nicely made and snuggly packaged. Itโs easy to recommend this to all train hobbyists.

The very best accessory train kit!
If you are looking for a kit to give that creative oomph a child's wooden train set, this is it. I'd highly recommend adding the Obrium round house to this kit. The risers in this kit work perfectly with the round house. My four year old grandson was thrilled with these two kits. It made a lovely birthday gift and his little brother will certainly enjoy this combination of Obrium tracks and special accessories when he's 3+ years old. A great investment in creative play.

A great alternative to name brand
These tracks work well with name brand wooden tracks at a fraction of cost. They are great quality, fit together well, and are loads up fun for my child. There is a large variety of pieces to build creativity. Is there nothing I disliked about this product. Recommend it!

Poor quality and workmanship
The quality and workmanship of this set is shockingly poor and make it very difficult to combine the other tracks like Brio and IKEA which trains tend to derail due to the trackโs profile.

Great value, well made works with other tracks
A nice set made of real wood, great if you're tired of cheap plastic toys. As expected this set operates well with Brio and other pieces. There are many blocks to rise up the track so you can have a track over another track and over another track. Kid loves it of course. Unlike some other sets, these pieces are sometimes a tight fit but not too much. There are several 3 way pieces which are not so common. Also as expected the track across pieces are not exactly perfect for each other, so motorized trains will go off track especially in corners. I have yet to find a set that doesn't do this. This is due manufacturing tolerances probably. Btw brio has a Rechargeable Engine that will save you buying tons of batteries.
