Great intro to game night
Our game nights start with simpler games before we get into complicated stuff like Ticket to Ride or Smallworld. Coup is a great "opener", particularly for people who don't normally play games (you know the type, "Hey do you play games?" "Well I play Monopoly sometimes..." >:( )Even though it's dead simple to learn (even non-gamers pick it up quickly) it relies a lot on each player's ability to bluff, and to call bluffs. The basic mechanic is, 1) you can bluff your way into a better position, 2) anyone can call you out, 3) if you weren't bluffing, the accuser suffers a huge penalty, but if you were bluffing, YOU suffer a huge penalty. So most of the game is spent with people bluffing their way into a better position, and everyone watching everyone else and paying attention to what the players are claiming they have... add in the ability to cover your tracks, and it makes for quite a lot of intrigue in such a little game. One other reason we use this as an opener is because the play time is relatively short (half an hour would be a longer game), and it's so interesting that by the end it doesn't really matter who wins, so there are almost never hard feelings. The rules are also bulletproof: veteran gamers know that with independent games you're not guaranteed to have a perfectly functional set of rules, but that's not the case here. The art is also spectacularly good... I usually spend part of each game just looking at the art.We have also played The Resistance (same author) and it's as fun, but more complicated, and less fun art - also a great game, with a similar mechanic, but Coup gets played more.I found out about Coup through word-of-mouth and haven't been disappointed. You won't be either if you take my word on it.

Very fun game, family friendly
This game is very fun after you play a few times get the hang of it. I recommend it 100%. Very easy to learn, but has a lot of tactics that you’ll learn as you go and probably invent your own.

Great, fast-paced game of trickery and deception that comes in a handy package!
Coup is a very fun game of trickery and deception that is relatively easy to pick up. I've had mine for years before doing this review. My friends and I have had many hours of fun yelling and pointing fingers at each other. It is a game that can either be really short or really long depending on the group you're playing with, but typically takes no longer than 30 minutes (usually shorter). The game comes with player cards, coins and cheat sheets containing character abilities for new players to refer to. The cards are relatively thick and have a good texture, whereas the coins are made of thick cardboard, which might feel a little cheap, even if they do serve their purpose well enough. The items come in this rather handy box made out of hard cardboard that protects the items well, but scratches rather easily. I like to bring this out to gatherings because you only need cards and coins, no board, no paper, nothing that requires a hard surface, so it's super easy to play anywhere.I found the game fun, even intensive at times, but not so suitable for younger children, and should probably only be introduced to young teens or older, because the gameplay leans heavily on players interacting with each other and using mind games and deception to trick others while using different abilities to gain certain advantages over others. Younger players mights struggle to grasp the more psychological aspects of the game.Highly recommend!

One of my favorite games
This is truly one of my favorite games. It serves small groups which can be convenient when you can’t get a lot of people. You can even do 2 players. It’s a game where you have to give convincing lies to win and it’s so fun! Rounds go by pretty fast which I appreciate.

I liked it because I won
Really super fun card game. Easy to learn but quite a bit of strategy in it

Arrived quickly. One of my favourite games to bring out during board game night.
It arrived promptly and is great quality. The games great, i love it more than I expected. It requires less setup than even games like chess. In fact it's similar to chess, although the bluffing part makes it a lot more fun, especially when a bad lie makes everyone piss themselves laughing. It's designed for more than two people and works best with 3+. Though I have had some 1v1 games and they are just as fun.The best thing though is games usually take only around 5-10 mins so if you're short on time or if someone can't stay for the whole game night you can obviously adjust to suit that. I usually have a few games of this before and after longer table top games.Honestly if you're looking for a good tabletop game Coup is vital to any collection.

Easy to Learn, Quick to Play
Recommendation: 5 starsEase to Learn: 4 starsGood for Family: 5 starsGood for Adults: 5 starsShort time to play: 5 starsValue for money: 4.5 starsThis game is best learned by someone who has played it.It takes about 3 rounds to understand it sufficiently with someone who has played it. The game is then easy to learn and interesting. We played about 3 rounds in 40 minutes, so each game doesn't take long--about 12-14 minutes. The idea is that each player gets 2 player cards. Each player card has a different character and there are are 3 of each character that does a specific function. You play your role as one of your characters or fib about having a character you don't have. For instance, you say, I am a Duke and will collect 3 money tokens (each turn you get tokens, the number you get is determined by your character cards or your ability to convince everyone else you have a specific card). If someone says they don't think you are a Duke and call you out, you lose a character card if you were lying. If you weren't, they lose a card. When you have 7 money tokens, you can assassinate another player to eliminate one of their character cards. Therefore, collecting money quickly and calling people out who you think are fibbing, is the game. The last person standing wins. There are elements of fibbing, selling, convincing, strategy, and elimination that are all part of the game. My family loves this. The game says 14+ but my 10 year old loves this game and tends to win a lot.If this sounds like fun, consider the Night of the Werewolf game as well--similar time to play, easy to do with the app on your phone and almost zero learning curve. The price is good.I would recommend.

Cartas incríveis
O jogo é incrível. A caixa veio amassada (um detalhe chato), mas as peças estão ok.

One of the best card games to play with big groups!
This game is full of bluffing and deception, and is very interactive. I love it when i play it with a large group of friends. Must buy, but a bit costly.
