Melissa & Doug First Bead Maze Wooden Educational Baby Toy

We purchased the Melissa & Doug First Bead Maze for our then 7-month-old who was recovering from major surgery. This toy has been a lifesaver, providing both entertainment and developmental benefits during a challenging time. The Pros: High-Quality Materials: The toy is made from durable, high-quality materials that can withstand rough handling. Excellent Suction: The suction cups are fantastic and stick firmly to the high chair tray and other hard surfaces, ensuring the toy stays in place during playtime. Interactive and Engaging: The colorful beads and various activities keep our infant engaged and entertained. It’s great for developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Safe for Babies: The toy is safe for our baby to handle, with no small parts that could pose a choking hazard. Cons: None So Far: We haven’t found any downsides yet. It has met all our expectations and more. Our baby couldn’t do tummy time post-surgery, so we needed a toy that could keep them entertained while sitting up supported. This bead maze has been perfect. It’s interactive, colorful, and keeps our little one busy, helping pass the time in a fun and engaging way. The suction quality is particularly impressive, as it ensures the toy stays put on the high chair tray and other hard surfaces. I bought this for my 4 1/2 month old because she seemed to concentrate on part of her Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Jumper, Blue that was a similar activity (moving the blue and yellow musical notes on the purple bar if you have it at home). The indications were for 1 year +, so I figured worst case scenario we would just put it away if she wasn't ready for it yet. Boy, am I glad we got the bead maze early! At 4 1/2 months, she would stick her tongue out while she focused on moving the beads. It took her a couple weeks before she could shift them from one side to the other, but she definitely hasn't mastered it yet (we've had it for 6 weeks) which makes me feel like this toy will maintain her interest for a while. The paint doesn't seem like it would chip, despite her scratching at it with her razor-like fingernails and the beads constantly banging against the wires. The colors are vibrant, and it's lightweight. It's the perfect size to attach to her Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat - Blue/Green/Gray before or after meals, or when she's joining us at the dinner table. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the suction cups... they are great 90% of the time, but it sometimes they don't stick where I want (the plastic tray of the booster) and I can't get it off of the surface where I don't want it (the dining table)! Not a big deal, and I don't think it can be improved, but it is noticeable. Would still recommend it and getting it earlier than later! Addendum 2/19/12: Daughter is now 10 1/2 months old. We put the bead maze away a couple months ago because she started gnawing on the wooden beads, enough that the wood and paint were being compromised. I know it's non-toxic paint, but we took it away (just like we did her other wooden puzzles and books that she chews). I read an idea from a parenting magazine where a dad said he put suction-cupped toys on the window. We put this and 2 other toys with suction cups on a window in her play room now that she's standing and walking... she loves them! She stands at the window and moves the beads on this toy, then goes to the next toy like she's on an assembly line... and doesn't chew on it anymore, even though she still tries to eat her books. So glad I read this (and wished I had come up with it myself...) so had to share!

Love this toy, it’s my go to for a restaurant bag because it’s hard to throw. My daughter has been interested in it from about 5 or 6 months. She is almost 10 months now and adores it. Holds her attention for a while

The suction cups are strong enough my grand baby cannot take it off his high chair tray. He loves playing with it!

This item has been sitting in my cart for a while and it went on sale and it was such a good deal I had to get it. It’s the best little starter bead puzzle toy that you can suction to the top of the high chair. My baby was deeply focused on understanding it and was able to hangout in his high chair without getting bored or annoyed. The colors are vibrant and rich, the material feels solid. Very easy to use on and off the high chair.

Baby loved it! It’s challenging enough for an older infant and yet easy enough for them to enjoy. It’s a good size and height. Nice and colourful. Love that it comes with suction on the bottom. It’s a hit! Already looking at what to upgrade him to when he’s all grown out of this one.

Lot of people enquired about the product. Very innovative. Please add more of trinkets to the list.

This was a very well built toy, that can take a battering from any child. I bought this for a gift for someone else, and have been told the child loves it.
