BLUF: Recommend | 4.7 Stars - Works as advertised, plenty of volume, quality sound, looks nice. LiKES: Aesthetics //sound quality //variety of sounds //lightweight and compact //its cord is USB-A, but they sent a cube to go with it //uncomplicated, easy to operate //priced reasonably (for today’s economy, anyway.) DiSLIKES: Not really dislikes but … the sound machine has a 3.5mm aux jack if you want to enhance your sound or wear headphones… Bluetooth to a wireless sound system would be a good addition to this product //it would be nice to be able to mix sounds but that complicates the whole thing and the pricing. In the reviews I read complaints about: 1) a CRACKLE; I did hear a slight crackle when I cranked it to the max, but it was slight and short-lived, and it did not affect the sound quality, particularly the level at which I need it, which is nowhere near the max //2) VOLUME level; unsure if some have received faulty products (easily fixed by reaching out to seller), but it was PLENTY loud enough for me and my insane tinnitus; if using for dogs maybe not bc of their supersonic radar ears. SUMMARY: I would recommend the DOUNI white noise machine to anyone needing its services. Plenty of sounds to choose from, quality sound, portable if necessary; get one for your guest bedroom/s, AirBnB, or sleep soundly and give your phone a break. 🙃

As someone with chronic insomnia, I’ve been on the market for a white noise machine for quite some time. My old machine was big and didn’t look very nice. And the sound was not ideal. I picked up the Douni. Packed responsibly in sturdy cardboard, the Douni Sleep Sound machine looks and feels different than any other I’ve seen. With easily the best faux wood grain finish and texture I’ve ever seen, this is a very handsome unit that would look good on any side table... seriously, the pictures don’t do justice, this looks like real wood. It even feels a bit like wood, but without the weight. I quickly was able to get it set up and plugged in with the extra long usb-type power cord that was provided. It’s a small detail, but usually these kinds of machines have short power cords which are awkward to set up. A short user guide explains the functions of each button, but it’s fairly intuitive. There is a timer function which turns off the sound after a period of time, but it can be disabled so you can run the machine full time, no problem. Volume controls and buttons work well like all Douni products I’ve bought. Three sound selection buttons toggle through the various sounds of each category. I found my favorite sound, “crickets at night” right away. I really like the generous selection of fan sounds and also the noise sounds - white, pink, brown, and other frequencies. The waterfall and creek sounds were also excellent. I’ve made field recordings of nature sounds before myself, I can tell the quality here is unique. What really sets this one from others I’ve tried though, is the lack of an identifieable loop point: each sound plays naturally, with no odd rhythms. The sense of calm I got from the sounds I tried was much deeper than others I’ve tried. The sound is excellent - the noise and fan sounds have lower frequencies present which help mask outside sounds. There is currently a big road project going on right outside my house, but I found a noise sound which effectively canceled the noise from the trucks and the work going on. Remarkable! I love how small it is, how sophisticated it looks, and most importantly how it sounds and performs. I’ve had two solid nights of deep sleep so far and I look forward to using it tonight. If I was to suggest anything it might be those light-up buttons which are present on the A7 Bluetooth speaker, since this is used primarily in a dark room. But that is nit-picking, and would likely add to the price of the unit. This is a simple, elegant, effective noise machine which is more relaxing than others I’ve tried. I definitely recommend it.

This is the second one of these I've purchased. The only problem is that it does not get as loud as the previous one. I use this to keep the noise of early morning traffic from waking up my dogs. This one does not get loud enough. I have no idea why they would have turned the sound down, but oh well, I'll look for another brand. **Edit The company offered me a full refund which I though was very generous. If loudness is not a problem, this sound machine is nice because of the range of sounds it has. **2nd Edit This company is wonderful to work with. They sent me a new sound machine! I didn't ask for anything but they still approached me to make things right. It still isn't as loud as my old one. There is a noticeable difference. But, if it doesn't have to be really loud, this is a great little sound machine and the company is great to work with, which is a rare thing these days. I put it on an extension cord and moved it closer to the dog beds and that is working. (Don't worry, they can't get to the cords, they are short little dogs.) I changed my review to 4 stars since I could make it work without too much hassle and because the seller is so great. I would give it 5 but it it still isn't as loud as my old one. I do recommend this sound machine and the seller.

I am a person who has had trouble falling asleep due to a racing mind, thinking about past and future issues with work, money, life dramas in general. I was always curious about sound machines, and not knowing anyone who owned one, never made a purchase thinking it was a possible waste of money. I received an amazon gift card for my birthday, I really didn't need/want anything, so I decided to research sound machines. I looked at many styles, names etc. Prices ranged from $18-$80. I read many reviews for each of these. I settled on this unit, as it was mid priced ($35) and my thinking was not to spend all of my gift card because if I hated it, it would be an "oh well" purchase. WELL I'm here to tell you that I made the smartest purchase of my life up to this point. I used to take sleeping pills EVERY night just to get to sleep. I do not do this anymore! Set up was so easy, just plug it in, turn it on and "play". It has fan noises(which I don't need because I have a fan), it has white noise which I am hesitant to use, due to thinking it will invite spirits to talk to me. (LOL) I LOVE the natural sounds however. I love the thunder storm, but alas, it freaks out my dog, so we've been listening to "waves". I kid you not when I tell you each night I turn it on, I am asleep within 20 minutes! This unit is small, fits anywhere. It has no night light, which I read on other units. I was navigating the buttons in the dark the first night. The sound quality is excellent & I'm not hearing any "looping" which seemed to be issues with other units I had researched. I used to fall asleep with the TV on, but would always wake up and struggle finding the remote to shut the TV off, which would make it hard to fall back asleep. This unit has a 30,60 & 90 minute timer that turns off the unit. first few nights I had it set for 60 minutes, and as I've said, within 20, I was out. Now, I keep it going all night, so if I do wake, I am lulled back to sleep within 10 minutes. I'm also getting deeper sleep & feel more awake during the day, I have more energy because I am sleeping through the entire night. If your like me, who finds it hard to fall asleep & stay asleep I can not recommend this enough. I just wish I had purchased a sound machine years ago.

Lots of different sounds to get your mind to fall asleep to. It’s amazing and the volume controls are perfect to find your threshold!

Spent so much more a decade ago on a good sleep fan - great value, compact, easy. Will be buying another

Fantastic. We love this sound machine. I had a house guest and she tried it and loved it too so I gave it to her. I bought this one as my travel one so I don't have to worry about taking the bedroom one. It's really great.

This machine has a lot of sounds to choose from , but there are only a few I like and find relaxing. Maybe there will only be a few for most people and they will be different for different people, I guess, but I can't imagine anyone falling asleep to some of them. The other con is that the sound quality is not top notch. On the pro side, it is easy to set a timer to have it on for a half hour, an hour or hour and a half, or continuously. I have found an hour and a half to be perfect for a good nights sleep. The light that shows it is on is tiny and does not really cast much light, so it doesn't interfere with sleep.The device looks really nice and doesn't take up too much space. Over all it is helpful, although I question if I could not have gotten a better one for less money. Perhaps my expectations are too high for the sound quality of a fourty nine dollar machine. The sound quality is not terrible but the speaker lacks clarity. It's way better with earphones, but I don't want to use those for sleeping.

I purchased this white noise maker to help drowned out my neighbours and their noisy jacuzzi motor, of which they're oblivious too. So far, it seems to fit the bill quite nicely. It has a multitude of relatively good quality sounds which is coupled with a good speaker. The stylish casing is also very welcome as it can fit in a wide array of different home decor tastes. I'm now considering purchasing a second unit for another area of the house. I would recommend this handy little peace maker!
