my sense is that the accuracy is a bit better when I wear it on my belt than it ...
For me the most important thing is that it be accurate. I've tested it several times by counting 100 or 200 steps during a walk, and it always is either right on the nose or else at most 1 or 2 off, which I attribute to maybe changing my stride at the end of the count by accident. By the way, my sense is that the accuracy is a bit better when I wear it on my belt than it is when I wear it on a shirt pocket, although the instructions seemed to say you can wear it anywhere. I have not really tested this, though, since I'm just happy that it's accurate, and the belt is fine; I have almost never worn it elsewhere when I walk.I've seen reviews complaining that the "30 day" memory is actually only 7 days, but I've had mine for about 14 days now and it remembers the daily total (and other data) for each of the days I've had it. So I think the "30 days" is probably going to be accurate, and I'm glad the pedometer has this feature. I don't really care about the other data (miles, calories, minutes, total steps since purchase) so I have no comment about them. I'm glad they're there since I like numbers and occasionally glance at them, but that's about it. I know some people will pay more attention to those numbers. Occasionally I've been glad to have the time of day there, when I wasn't wearing my watch. What I can definitely say is that I find myself literally going the extra mile to try to bump my daily totals, which I never did before I had a way of accurately counting my steps. (This would be true with any pedometer, as long as it's accurate.) I'm taking the "long way" to my office every day (almost double the distance), and taking extra walks. It's a little bit embarrassing that an inexpensive little toy can get me to change my habits when common sense and doctors couldn't, but there you have it.By the way, I did not get any discount or incentive from Ozeri or Amazon to write this review.

Defective goods.
I obviously received a previously returned unit. It did not have an owner manual and the box was all cut up. Also, it could not be programed. So why does Amazon re-sell a defective product? They were kind enough to promptly arrange for return shipping and pick up at their expense. So, feeling confident that was a fluke situation, I re-ordered another unit. Ratings are so good, how could that happen again. My 'new to me’ unit arrived in a couple days and wouldn’t you know it - it was defective too, and obviously so - as the packaging was torn, cut and taped up. This time it did have an owners manual, but the unit was still defective. I don't get it - A defective unit goes back to Amazon and they turn around and re-sell it. What are they expecting? It's going to heal itself? Twice now I've gotten non-working units that someone else returned. Maybe if they checked a returned defective unit out they could save their time and money by sending it back to the manufacturer. Seems close to the definition of insanity. "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." Maybe someone in that department should consider running for political office....Ironic I know but as I was getting an email notice that Amazon had received my defective unit - another unit showed up on the "Very Good, but damaged packaging" warehouse site. Nay - they wouldn't be trying to post the same unit just returned for another sucker, would they? Just a coincidence, I'm sure...Anyway, I have order it again, just in hopes I'll get a unit that measures up to all the high ratings other folks have showered on it. IF the unit works as claimed I will change my rating =but for now, I’m not a happy non-pedometer owner.

Does what it supposed to do for a price that's hard to beat. I wish people were more like that.
I bought one for myself and love the fact that now I know when I'm being lazy or having a good workout. I don't run/jog, its not good for my joints. However walking really fast and concentrating on your movement/breathing helping me to lose weight just the same. I try to do recommended 10000 steps, but often do up to 10-10.5 miles a day. The more you do it, the easier it gets. I stopped taking my car everywhere on purpose, even when a small shopping needed to be done. And if weather is cold - put more layers on, scarf, hat, gloves and don't be a freaking baby - once you move fast in all those layers you'll break a sweat and steam will be coming off of you. And not just the backside, like usually. Don't forget to tag this neat device along, I clip it to the inside of my pant pocket, but you can just put it inside a pocket any way you like. Its small, light, large digits for those with eye sight deficiency. Counts my daily steps, calories burned, mileage, and some other stuff I don't care about. Its also a watch :) Just don't forget to set (program) your stride length, its explained in the manual. I was so impressed with it, I bought two more as gifts for my momzy and my aunt, cause they walk a lot too, and considering it for my dad. Shipping was fast, packaging great, ordered gift wrapped, and I'm impressed. Its only what, like 3-4 $, but some companies charge you for it and the job they do is just pathetic, this time I was pleasantly surprised. And thank god I had enough sense not to buy some of the more expensive trendy BS pedometers, that you have to wear and track your sleep and you have to come home and sync with your PC to get the results... I want the results NOW, not later. And paying around 25$ beats paying a 100$+ any goddamn day. Don't you agree? :)
