The fourth solo album from prolific songwriter, four-time Grammy-nominated artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Steven Wilson. Hand. Cannot Erase. is a dynamic 11-song conceptual set, bringing together diverse aspects of his expansive sonic history. Recorded in September 2014 at AIR Studios London, Hand. Cannot. Erase. features the guitar-driven power, infectious melodies, and progressive sensibility of Wilson s sprawling body of work.Wilson describes the collection as inspired by a news story, of a woman who died in her apartment and went undiscovered for three years. The basic concept of the record it's about a woman growing up, who goes to live in the city, very isolated, and she disappears one day and no one notices. Now, your initial reaction when you hear a story like that is, 'Ah, little old bag lady that no one notices; no one cares about.' But she was young; she was popular; she was attractive; she had many friends; she had family, but for whatever reason, nobody missed her for three years.; The dramatic theme of Hand. Cannot. Erase. is punctuated with moments of rhythmic urgency, somber introspection, and soaring beauty.Blu-Ray in hi resolution stereo & 5.1 audio (96/24 5.1 LPCM & DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1). Also includes download codes for MP3 and FLAC versions of the songs.Artwork by long time Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson artist and designer, Carl Glover (in conjunction with images from Hajo Mueller and Lasse Hoile)Alongside the album this edition also features seven additional tracks including alternative & radio mixes plus the beautiful solo version of Routine with Ninet Tayeb on vocals. The Lasse Hoile Studio Documentary & studio sessions photo gallery complete the Blu-ray.

Another home run for Wilson
Steven Wilson has released his latest album with his jazz buds. The effort is called Hand Cannot Erase. The premise of the album is the story of a woman that died in an apartment but wasn't noticed for three years. The tale notes that while she died alone, she was a child, she was a mother, an aunt, she had a life. She wasn't always forgotten.Steven Wilson has made a career with sad depressing lyrics. Sometimes he outdoes himself. The last album had The Raven That Refused to Sing, an old man who is near death, desperate to hear the singing voice of his long lost sister of whom he lost when they were still kids. This album gives us Happy Returns, which, while seemingly full of hyperbole, is more depressing than Stop Swimming, Octane Twisted, and the Raven That Refused to Sing combined. It is that powerful.Often, Wilson creates stories with his songs, but Hand Cannot Erase goes beyond a story. It is a reality that has occurred for some, a reality that may occur to you (the listener). I have always enjoyed his music, but this is his first album that makes you think about your own life. The steps within it, the steps to come. The steps of other lives. Where we put the value. I've always pondered the day in - day out routine of life, about how much of life is wasted waiting for later. And this is all before we talk about the actual music, which is finely crafted, played by grossly awesome musicians. The lyrics themselves are haunting, story telling, entrapping. The vocal harmonies are nothing less than what one comes to expect in a Steven Wilson album. Wilson engineered the album, so it sounds as perfect as it possibly can. This album will be the best album in 2015 not to make it above the radar, being pushed aside by shallow music critics that put forth less thought worthy material as the prized material.

Finally!!!
I am in total shock with this album. Been a fan of Steven Wilson for years but mostly with his non-solo projects. Porcupine Tree remains one of my favorite bands and I've been thoroughly disappointed with most of Steven's solo work and collaborations since he put PT on hiatus. The last two solo releases left me underwhelmed due to their overly progressive and somewhat disjointed sound. A lot of his work has been non-accessible lately so you truly have to believe that he can do no wrong to love it.Hand.Cannot.Erase breaks that streak for me. The first track started and I was immediately thinking it was going to be the same. But all of a sudden the entire sound seemd to change and I was blown away with it. I'm not a music major so not sure on the right terms but this album has a different tone than his last few. While the subject matter is rather dark, I don;t get that anxious feeling from the music like I do with his other solor stuff. This is a pure pleasure to listen to.As I prgressed through the album, most of the first few songs continued with this. And the woman singer on the album is fanatastic and brings another dimension to the sound. There isn;t one song that I dislike. A few towrds the end have their "Steven Wilson" moments but all of them have parts that are incredble.I am glad I didn;t discount this album before I gave it a try. It has ben a wonderful surprise. Definitely his best solo work and best work since PT.

A Surprisingly Moving Album
This is quite a different album from 'The Raven...', despite being essentially the same band. It didn't grab me musically to the same extent as 'The Raven...' when I first heard it, but it DID move me.The music is a tad more modern than the rather retro feel of 'The Raven'. The musical language of prog is still there, but more subtle. I hate to pigeonhole a creative album like this, but if you want to know what it sounds like I would suggest that I get slight hints of contemporary Rush, rather than 1970s bands with mellotrons and Taurus pedals. I thought I knew the concept of the album before hearing it (woman found in flat three years after she died), but really this strikes me as an album about transience, and people passing through each others lives (No, I was never particularly profound in English Lit classes either!) But as someone who lived alone for 15 years of his early adult life hundreds, and often thousands, of miles away from family, I did find myself relating emotionally to the album and to the notion that someone essentially normal and well-liked could fall off the radar, and the album makes for a moving experience as a result. The images in the blu-ray tap the mood nicely.I've had this for a few weeks now. I wasn't sure how to rate the music to begin with as I was expecting 'The Raven' part 2 musically. 'The Raven' is a stonking 5 star progfest ("stonking" is a good thing in case you weren't sure). But I settled on a strong 4 stars. It is growing on me and might make 5 stars yet, but for now 4 is a strong recommendation.

Encantador

Worth the money
Awesome album and this bluray version is extraordinary. The DTS Master HD audio is just mind bogglingly clean and clear abd the 5 1 mix is absolutely seamless.

Belleza
