An angsty enemies to lovers story that readers will love!
Claire brings us an enemies to lovers story that spans years. Half of Presley and Nathanial's lives, really. These two people first meet when Presley is 15 and Nathanial is 18, and to say they get off to a rocky start is an understatement. They spend the next 18 years with Nate picking on Presley and her rolling her eyes at him, bickering over any and every little thing. This was the classic tale of boy likes girl, so to show he likes her he is mean to her. But girl, not knowing this, thinks he's just being a dumb, mean jerk. But because Nate works for Presley's father, she sees him all the time. And the push and pull between them goes on for years, until Presley goes to work for her father. She's navigating a divorce and has reconnected with her father. Nate has gone on to start his own company, but has a lot of business dealings with Presley's father. And initially, the teasing from Nate continues to rile Presley up, him still calling her the hated nickname Princess that he's used for the past 18 years. It doesn't take long for the dynamic to change between them, and in between the bickering and teasing, there are some pretty steamy interactions. But Presley is still reeling from a cheating husband that she's quickly trying to be rid of, and her emotions are still pretty raw. Should she even be thinking about anything with Nate, even though she's had feelings for him for almost two decades?Claire knows how to write angst! These two people had me grinding my teeth and shaking my head in frustration! Half the time I wanted to throttle Nate for constantly saying something mean to Presley, but then I'd want to shake her for constantly acting like she didn't care. And then they finally got together and I was like, FINALLY!! But then they'd be right back to their old selves with the bickering and back and forth, and I just knew my heart was going to take a beating before these two really, truly figured themselves out.I absolutely loved Presley's father, who plays a very pivotal role throughout the story. I never had a close relationship with my dad, so I literally teared up several times with relief that Presley had finally pulled her head out of her butt and realized how important her father was to her. And he was a very important person in Nate's life as well, being a mentor to him since he was 18.You angst loving readers are going to love this story. There were a lot of things I wanted to smack both Nate and Presley for doing or saying to each other, but ultimately, they are both inherently good people who willingly do as much as they can for others. And if you've read some of Claire's Hearts series books, you will love seeing some beloved characters pop up...not sayin' who, you need to read and find out!

A great enemies to lovers romance
The Consequence of Falling is the perfect book for you if you're a lover of the enemies to lovers trope!Presley and Nathaniel have known each-other since she was 15 and he was 18. He has worked for her father forever, and has become like a son to him, and Presley has resented him, hated him, and also been insanely attracted him all at the same time. Throughout the years these two have had an interesting relationship where they push each-other's buttons and Presley just all around hates him. When her marriage ends, and she comes to work for her father's brewery, she's shocked to learn that Nathaniel is now her father's business partner and she will be working closely with him.I loved how no matter how much Presley tried to deny it, she's attracted to Nathaniel, and she tries to fight it so hard. Granted, she's going through a divorce, and her ex, is how do I put it nicely.... a total sleazebag. She seems resigned with how her life is, and all she wants to do spend time with her father, work on opening up her brewery, and learn the business. She doesn't intend to spend most of her time bickering back and forth with Nathaniel or all the sparks that fly or the feelings she has and tries to deny when that happens. As the two of them spend more time together, and the small peeks we get into Nathaniel's mind we see that not everything is as it seems, and Nathaniel pushes Presley because he enjoys it and loves getting her riled up, but in reality he wants her and is sick of waiting for her. I loved watching these two slowly come together, fall apart, and come back together. There was heartbreak of different kinds in this book, and a lot of character growth. I adored both of these characters, and I loved how Nathaniel pushed Presley in different ways and helped her be the person she was meant to be. He didn't coddle her like every other person in her life seemed too, and he let her be who she wanted to be, and I loved how Presley seemed to balance Nathaniel as well. This book had a great story line and I adored the characters. I found myself chuckling out-loud while reading the banter between these two, and I fell in love with their love story. I just wish we would have seen them together more, than all of the build up between them and then them falling apart. My favorite parts were when they were together, an that seemed to b a small section of this book. Other than that, this was an amazing book and one I recommend, especially if you want a steamy romance with a little bit of angst built in!

Inimigos apaixonados

.
Such a beautiful story. It made me cry a few times. I didn't think she was a spoiled princess like Nathaniel thought, after all she'd been through, but also liked when he pished her to be better.

A feel good opposites attract, enemies to lovers story in true Claire Contreras style
I have read a few Claire Contreras books ( my favourite being the Hearts series) so I was expecting this to be a good and easy read and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s not an action packed book but it is packed with a lot of emotion, angst and love. It’s the story of Presley and Nathaniel who couldn’t be more poles apart and really dislike each other simply because they’ve both had different upbringings with Presley having had a privileged upbringing, and Nathaniel being brought up by his mum having lost his dad at a young age and works hard to make a name for himself. They don’t actually get together until years later but they do bump into each other from time time and as the story is mainly told from Presley’s point of view you get to see how Presley grows from being a spoilt bratty “princess” a title she’s given by Nathaniel to a confident but sometimes vulnerable young woman who often struggles with her own feelings & emotions and other people’s expectations of her. It is clear to see that she too has had a tough upbringing, which is something that she doesn’t expect Nathaniel to understand and he thinks the same of her hence their love hate relationship. I really liked Presley’s character, I found her endearing but didn’t think too highly of Nathaniel even if he did ooze with sex appeal off the pages! He wasn’t very nice to Presley and was quite opinionated but he did redeem himself eventually and they were a good match. This was a real easy read with a touch of humour, some sadness, some angst but a whole lot of love too. It was also nice to get a mention of the other characters from the Heart series too (Mia & Jensen from Paper Hearts being my favourite). A definite 5 stars from me!

So so good!
Why you should read it: I haven’t read many books by Claire Contreras in the last few months – no idea why as I enjoy her work immensely. I was drawn into this story from the first page and I truly loved Presley – her inner monologue and the exploration of her difficult relationship with her parents was fascinating. Nathaniel is also a really interesting hero. He fires back at and challenges Presley in a way no-one else does in her life. I thought he was a bit harsh at times, but it became apparent as to why and then I understood where he was coming from.Presley came across as a spoilt princess at times but I felt for her quite a bit. Going through the stress of divorce, she’s left feeling that she can’t trust anyone. She doesn’t know what to do in her professional life, as no-one really thought she was capable of much to begin with. The chemistry between Nate and Presley and the time span of the book really made for a deep love story. I loved every minute. What you may not like: Presley has a tendency towards stubbornness which may, or may not annoy you. I found it entertaining and completely understood where she was coming from. Other than that, I can’t recommend it enough.Rating: 5/5 for a sweet, sad and sexy read about second chances, being enough and forgiveness.

This book will keep you invested until the very end!
This is one of those books which keeps you invested until the very end. It spans over a decade with brief encounters between Nathaniel and Presley. Their chemistry is volatile at best and Nate doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to winding up Presley. He loves nothing more than calling her Princess. With cameos from some well loved characters in her Heart series, was icing on the cake.Kaleidoscope Hearts will always be a firm favourite of mine, but The Consequence of Falling holds its own.Enemies to lovers, what’s not to love?Claire never fails to deliver and always manages to evoke all the feels. A very worthwhile read.If you haven’t already, be sure to check out her Heart series, you won’t regret it.I received an ARC for an honest review, but I also one-clicked it as soon as it was live because I wanted the published version too.
