So many reasons to buy this! Awesome bag, well built & lightweight
All the reasons to buy this great little backpack:(1) Convenient to keep in the luggage for those extra things you bring home.(2) So lightweight, but very sturdy and well made, perfect for lugging around all your "stuff" when at attractions / hiking(3) For reason number 2 above, great to keep 1 in your car / beach bag / tote(4) I recommend picking up a nice neutral color so no one has an excuse not to carry it! (for all those extra's & maybe someone else will carry the extra bag) (Why does everyone hand me their jackets / keys / collectible cups when finished... etc.???) I am not a pack mule... lol... nice thing is no one minds slinging this over their shoulder.(5) So small and compact when in its pouch & yes, I tried putting it back in the pouch myself to see if it would fit & with very little effort was able to repack it (almost) as good as factory compactness.Nice and convenient, I keep 1 in my luggage permanently so I will not forget it.Awesome for movie bag... I will buy their soda and popcorn, but draw the line at the candy... hit the dollar store on the way and have everyone pick out their favorites!!! (I digress... ahem.... yes, this is a great multi-purpose bag that is so convenient & compact when not in use :-)I really rely on honest reviewers, real purchasers, so please click below if this info has helped at all. Thank you and Enjoy!

Sweet little 22L nylon NEW OUTLANDER backpack in Purple
I bought several nylon backpacks on Amazon prior to my trip last month, to determine which size or brand that I would like. A few will be returned. The 22L Outlander backpack in purple felt the best and I now use it most days as my purse. I am 5'4" and a bit short-waisted, so standard backpacks are all too long on me. This one is quite comfortable and a good length. The side pockets easily hold my either or both a 12oz or 16oz stainless steel water bottle, or my sunglasses. This pack nicely survived a two-week trip to Europe last month as my purse and daypack, as we traveled by bus and train. It seems quite well-made with perfectly functioning zippers and no fraying on seams. It carried all of my usual "purse" items as well as an extra shirt, socks, snacks, pill organizer, with room to add a few souvenirs. Even though I weighed it down pretty well the straps were still comfortable on my shoulders. The other brand of similar backpacks were not as comfortable on me, and one had annoyingly loud material (I think that was the MCIRCO 20L). The Outlander (22L purple) and Hexin (33L purple) seemed to both be made by the same company since they fit similarly and had the same style and print on the fabric. So, I am keeping them both! When I had more things to carry, I would put the smaller pack inside the larger one. I used the larger one as my carry-on for my flights, and the smaller one as my purse. Both sizes fold back neatly into a little pouch, but frankly, I can't see me ever putting them away. They are so lightweight that they take up practically no space. I did fold the big one a few times and carried it inside the smaller one (so that I would have an extra shopping bag with me), but after a few times I just rolled the extra pack and placed it at the bottom of the pack in use.I also bought an Outlander (33L) in Black for my husband to carry, but he didn't mind the dark purple color. He may have objected if I had wanted him to carry a pink or red one, but the purple is pretty subtle. Both of the larger packs came in handy for sorting our clothes during the trip. One day we even loaded both 33L backpacks with stuff we should not have brought with us (can you say "overpacked"?) and walked to the Amsterdam Post Office to mail home a box of our "stuff" (yeah, we'll just call it stuff, to be nice here). These packs are SO SO handy. I got the impression, at the PO, that mailing home dirty clothes was not uncommon. Doh.Yes this nylon pack is a bit flimsy, but it's so strong and holds so much! For the price, I totally recommend the Outlander (or the Hexin). Buy one in each size. Keep both, or give one away to a friend! Can't go wrong with this product.Disclaimer: I was not given anything free to try. I paid for this product. I like this product and recommend it. (No one ever sends me anything for free. Boo hoo)

Very thin fabric; there are better options available.
I was looking for a lightweight backpack to replace my diaper bag. Something smallish and sturdy for outings with my 4 and 1 year old. I purchased three similar backpacks from Amazon to compare: this one (New Outlander 20l), Gonex ultralight 25l, and Neatpack 20l.The New Outlander came in last place because, of the three, it had the thinnest/flimsiest fabric. The Gonex came in second. Fabric thickness/durability was similar to the Neatpack's, but the Gonex had a couple features I didn't care for. Firstly, the bottom of the pack was not reinforced in any way. Second, the ripstop fabric on the shoulder straps was noisy. My personal choice was the Neatpack. I liked the (more) substantial feel of the fabric, the fact that the bottom was double layer fabric, and how the straps and back of the backpack were made of a thinly padded mesh which seem more comfortable and quiet.I opted to return the Outlander. I can't say how durable it actually is, just that I wasn't as impressed with it as I was with the other options.

Comfortable, practical, potential lifesaver
We've just returned from 7 days of hiking with these beauties; both my daughter and I loved them. We have the smaller of the two sizes (20L) and found them perfect - they suit Frontier's size requirements for a "personal item" and were light and COMFORTABLE for hiking in upper 90's weather for mountainous 9-mile hikes in both North Carolina and Colorado Springs. They helped us conquer the legendary "Incline" of Manitou Springs and a fabulous bike ride all the way down Pikes Peak when hydration, stability, and comfort were paramount. They easily carried several water bottles, personal items, car keys safely zipped into the carrying pouch, light jacket, sunscreen, snacks, maps, phone, etc. (I even washed mine when we returned last night and it came out looking like new after I snipped a few threads around the zipper.) EVEN if it had not survived for another trip, these were WELL WORTH the price. And yes - I have gotten mine back into its pouch several times with ease. I traveled with this packed in my larger backpack until we were preparing for the day trips; she slid hers under the airplane seat easily. Both worked beautifully.

Perfect for holiday
Bought this to help lighten my load when travelling with hand baggage only. Not only was I able to stow it away comfortably without it affecting my baggage allowance, but it was the perfect size for being out and about on my holiday. Easily fit a towel and essentials for the beach and it so lightweight you barely know you're carrying it. I love it. My only tiny gripe is that the shoulder straps rub a little if wearing a vest top but that may be because I was sunburnt. It's deceptively spacious, lightweight and packs away to about the size of a CD/DVD box. Also handy for cycling... love the colour too.

Too small.
The backpack itself was fine. Well made...which is the only reason it got 2 stars. The SIZE however....I did a search for LARGE backpack on Amazon as my daughter had outgrown the small school-sized ones (that usually have cartoon characters and the like on them). I had no idea what size 33L was in a backpack but it was the largest of 3 sizes, so I figured it would be pretty good. Nope. Actually the SAME SIZE as the โShopkinsโ one my youngest has. Pictured next to other kid-sized backpack. Not happy.

Highly recommended
Great item. Packed for 5 day trip and still fitted under the seat in front on the plane. Would recommend to anyone wanting to travel light. Straps are comfortable too.

Not so reliable
Zip broke straight away - it had been in the house for 5 minutes. Hopefully, I got a duff one, but not risking a replacement - has to be refunded. These things just have to workUpdate: 3 weeks later and still no refund

It's bigger on the inside
In TARDIS style fashion it really does seem immensely bigger on the inside than how it appears from the outside. I think because the material is a bit stretchy, you can really pack things in. And it's so light and easy to carry. A big win, this purchase. Highly recommend and so cheap too! My friend bought three at a time just in preparation for when this model is retired. That's how much she likes it. I bought two.
