I ordered these as a replacement for an old worn out Alvin cutting mat and so far so good. The build and quality seems on par with my original Alvin Matt but for much less in price. I have only had it a short time but it is holding up just like the Alvin it is replacing. Bonus was to came with two so you have a spare or bigger work area, whichever you desire.

I love this little cutting board it's the perfect size to keep at my machine and it's thick. Buy it!

Ugh. I should have read more carefully before I ordered this. I was looking to replace an 18x24 inch mat that's older than dirt and seriously beat up (self healing mats are great for cutting, but I had gouges in mine from drilling through metal on it, dye stains, etc). My desk isn't that big, so I thought 12x18 would work fine for MOST of my needs. I picked this one because it was not only the size I wanted, but also has one side that's white and not green or dark blue. The green and blue mats really distort colors while you're working, and I had hoped to get away from that -- I leave my mat on my desk (which is white) all the time, so the color of my old blue mat was just annoying when I was doing something like beading on it. The quality of this mat is great. It's thicker than my old one, which I really appreciate. However... the grid is NOT 12" x 18". It's 11x17. For me, sizing down... that's a problem. I really wanted that full 18 inches on the long side. 4 stars for a good quality cutting surface, but lost a star because it's listed as 12x18 and it is not. I'll use it, but I think I'm going to keep looking.

Wow, why I don't know this kind of product before. I usually just use a cardboard as a cutting board, and it doesn't always work well as you know. After getting this board, I was able to cut and not to worry about breaking anything. The board will be self healed or you can't even tell the cutting line. For lines and angle guide lines on the board, it makes so easy to aline and make cutting more accurate. This is a great board every family should have and definitely great for child to use as well.

I like that these come in a 2 pack and are the same size but not connected to each other. I sew a lot of smaller things and sometimes only need to use one of them. The measurements on the Mat are also useful for lining things up and cutting straight.

After 20 years my previous cutting mat got pretty yucky and was hard to get clean so it was time for a new one. In searching for mats I noticed many reviewers saying different mats had a strong chemical smell. I've had to return a number of different items over the years due to noxious chemical smells. Some people said the US Art Supply mat didn't smell so I decided to try it out. I did notice a strong smell at first but it wasn't as obnoxious as other smelly rubber or plastic-type items. I washed it a couple of times with dish detergent and warm water (don't know if that helped or not) and let it dry/air out. Within a couple of days it was noticeably better - enough that I could use it. And it didn't smell up my small apartment in the process. I've been using it a lot for trimming cards and paper with an X-acto knife and the cuts seem to heal well. The main downside is the measuring lines are thicker than my previous mat which makes it hard to get accurate measurements. I use a ruler when my project needs to be accurate.
