Whirlpool 3-81329 Timer

I have an older Whirlpool all refrigerator from 2003 runs great needed a defrost timer found this one here, My timer was still functioning but was making noise. Put this one in no more noise and working. Good parts keep getting harder to find. Thanks Amazon Sellers!!!!

Good price and freezer is defrosting again.

Easy to install, works as expected. My 10 year old freezer is back in business!

On my freezer, it bolts onto the exterior back lower corner, with two screws. The hardest part was simply pulling the freezer out from the wall. Prices on these timers are always changing. Best to check several online appliance parts places, before buying, or you might be paying a great deal more than you need to. Sometimes, one seller will be selling the part for twice the price as another site.

Had an issue for sometime where my Whirlpool stand up deep freeze started to frost up constantly during the humid summer. During the winter it didn't have the issue as much or at all. I have actually manually defrosted the fridge about 3 times and finally bucked up and purchased this timer. The old one wouldn't spin and I couldn't fix it. Simply unscrewing the timer and unplugging it and then plugging in the new timer it worked flawlessly. It has defrosted the frozen coil and the huge chunk of frost that had encased the vents on the lower back portion of the freezer. Worked like a charm and is well worth the cost.

Part might have been great, but it did not fit my freezer.

This thing saved me having to buy a new freezer. I had an inch of frost on my upright freezer and thought that I was going to have to buy a new unit because it couldn't hold a low temperature. Since it was soon-too-be trash anyway, I watched a few YouTube videos and decided to take a stab at fixing my freezer. First, I left it unplugged and defrosted it. Then, I unscrewed all of the obvious panels and got out a volt meter for some testing. When I plugged in, nothing on the defroster was hot, which had me suspicious, but I had never done this before so I took a screwdriver and advanced the factory timer a few notches and re-tested for a few spins. Dead. I then took out the timer and tested a pass-through current. Hot. Okay, I just need a new timer. I ordered this one, got in in two days, plugged it in, secured it, and now have a working freezer for about 10% of the cost of a new one. Test first and make sure you need the thing. If you do, this unit will be fine as long as the freezer model numbers match.
