best knife we ever purchased
Recommended by American Test Kitchen and they are correct. Best paring knife I have ever had. We take very good care of all of our knives, but this one is especially good. It retains it's sharpness. It was over a year before I gave it a sharpening (at home using a hand-held sharpener) and it was back to the great sharpness it had when new. Swiss made and wonderful. We purchased the red handle option so we would immediately know which knife to go to. Others have been not nearly as good as the Vitorinox paring knife. It is easy to use - perfect size. It retains its sharpness with normal care. It is so good that we have given this knife as gifts and everyone to who we gave it were amazing at the excellence of this small kitchen addition. We highly recommend.

Best knifes made
These little paring knives are the best available on the market today at any price. They maintain their sharpness longer and handle more easily than any other ones. So do all their other knives of all sizes. DO NOT waste your money buying expensive knives when these knives do a better job at a fraction of the cost.

A handy paring kife that is easy to grip with wet hands
I can not speak of the performance of this knife because it was purchased as a gift. I bought two - one for each of my college age nieces. However, both of them have been very well satisfied by the performance of the knife. I bought them along with the Victorinox Cutlery 6-Inch Chef's Knife also available here at Amazon. What they needed was a couple of basic knives. They don't cook much, & it is mostly very basic stuff. The 6-inch Chef's knife in conjunction with the 4-inch Paring knife is filling their needs very well. There certainly are better knives out there, but I do not think that you can do better than this pair I have chosen for their starter kitchens. They tell me it has a good edge - both have worked with high quality knives in restaurant settings & value a good edge. They find it useful not just in preparing produce, but tell me it works fairly well for slicing harder cheeses. I have used other knives with the Fibrox handle and can attest to how well you can keep a grip of it even when your hands are wet - a not inconsiderable consideration when using the knife to clean and prep you fresh fruit and vegetables. If you have someone in you life who is setting up their first kitchen or if you are on a tight budget in sourcing your own kitchen equipment, this paring kife gives very good value for money.

4" definitely THE PERFECT SIZE for all your kitchen needs
Review, tips, tricks: 10/10 This paring knife is the perfect version because the +0.75" allows you to reach entirely across just about all fruit and vegetables. Not only that, but it allows you to cut through meat more efficiently than with the smaller counterpart. I would not recommend cutting through large pieces of meat. This IS a paring knife after all. Speaking of which, it pares well. Very well. And it sharpens easily and nicely. Design: 10/10 Victorinox definitely reached the epitome of paring knives with this thing. Yes, it is cheap, but that is because they understood that people's main tasks in the kitchen was to do a lot of paring work or slicing and such of small goods. A nice thin knife (< 2mm) makes this incredible for just about anything. Because of its shape and thinness, it allows for a quick cut followed by more quick cuts as opposed to a cut followed by removing your sliced piece off the knife. Materials: 10/10 Beat them up and use them for just about everything because this knife will be able to take it. that extra +0.75" length means that if you actually choose to sharpen these knives, you can have it sharpened and ground down to 3.25" like the smaller version. The handle's materials are great and the size is perfect for children (with parental supervision). Overall perfect paring knife experience. Don't waste your money on anything more expensive than $10 because with the amount you'll be using these, like David Chang (famous chef) said, you'll go through them.

It's just a paring knife, but sharp means everything.
As a single senior aged bachelor, reviewing cutlery is not what I ever expected, but here I am. I have been a morbidly obese male for years and after many failed diets I made a lifestyle change to the way I eat by going ketogenic. Lo carb- Hi fat, LCHF diet....it works, 30 lbs in 6 weeks! No more processed food, fast, slow or otherwise. I cook almost EVERYTHING from scratch. My cutting and chopping of food increased 100 fold. I increasingly found my 25 yr old K-Mart cutlery butcher block of knives was totally inadequate as far as consistency and longevity of sharpness. I purchased a magnificent Victorinox Chef's knife 8" and was shocked and pleased at the difference that made my 25 yr old knives seem like hacksaws. I've never owned a top quality knife because I've spent the bulk of my life married and not doing too much cooking, just a little. The chef's knife was so amazing I purchased the Victorinox honing steel to maintain its perfection. Getting the small Victorinox paring knife for the smaller jobs suddenly seemed a must. It's just as awesome, just as sharp. Unlike at least one reviewer who said their order had a polypropylene handle vs the wonderfully textured 'fibrox' handle, mine was the wonderfully textured fibrox. I simply don't believe the low price for such high end cutlery. That's Amazon.
