"Saved me a fortune" I wasn't sure if my head gasket had gone after my coolent reservoir was empty on my van and heaters were blowing cold air. I called a local garage and they gave me a quote for an inspection which I could not afford. Then I saw this. Arrived in good time. I followed the instructions and turns out my head gasket is fine after all. This kit has everything you need for up to 50 tests. Value for money is excellent and the quality of the parts is really good. Functionality is spot on as it's a very easy to use kit. Highly recommend product.

Excellent kit which comes with clear instructions and is very easy to use. The first test i carried out was on a recently acquired Audi which I suspected had a head/headgasket issue and the test came back positive (the liquid turned from blue to green within a minute or two). The diagnosis was later confirmed by a trusted garage who carried out their own test and found exhaust gasses in the coolant. The second test i carried out was on a SEAT which has been suffering from coolant loss for at least a year or so. As I'd already bought the test kit for the Audi i thought I would give it a go with this car too. Again the test came back positive (liquid turned blue to yellow very quickly). This diagnosis was also later confirmed by a garage who found the EGR cooler had failed. I also tested our other vehicles and thankfully in those cases the tests all came back negative. In summary a really useful kit, very easy to use and in my experience 100% accurate.

I'm sure no one wants to have to buy a head gasket testing kit, but sometimes necessity demands it. I brought this kit to test the head gasket of my Rover 45, with a 1.4 k series engine, renowned for head gasket failure. I had seen some symptoms of gasket failure, so brought this kit to be sure before taking to a garage. The kit contains instructions for use, which are easy enough to understand, but a little vague in some areas. We were left wondering if we were doing the right thing at some stages. The rubber bung looks like it would fit a wide variety of expansion tanks, as it has a fairly significant taper. There is enough liquid for probably 30 tests. The liquid is supposed to turn green, or yellow after about 5 minutes if exhaust gases are present in the coolant system. Sure enough, after about 5 minutes then liquid turned very slightly green. The colour change was so slight that we were still not 100% confident. But the garage confirmed that even a slight change is a smoking gun. After taking it to the garage, they confirmed that the head gasket was blown. So this test is definitely accurate. Just not to be used as the sole test, just as a guidance. The kit is good quality, and does what it says, so functional.

Quite good, but it did give me a false reading once.

The Car I was looking at had a slight coolant leak. I wanted to be positive it wasn’t the head gasket. This non-invasive test “sniffs” for CO2 in the coolant at the header tank. Any change of colour it’s confirmed. If, as in my case, it stays blue and doesn’t change colour, it’s confirmed there is no co2 and therefore the head gasket was not a problem. Inexpensive Peace of mind.

Funciona perfectamente, pero hay que utilizarlo de la forma correcta, nunca con el motor frío. Os dejo instrucciones de como hacerlo para que no tengas un mal diagnóstico. Mover el coche 10 km → ✅ Perfecto Esto calienta el motor de manera uniforme y abre el termostato. Apagar 7–8 minutos → ✅ Correcto Baja la presión del circuito para que al abrir el vaso no salga el refrigerante disparado. Todavía estará caliente, suficiente para que cualquier gas de combustión suba al vaso. Abrir vaso y montar kit → ✅ Correcto Con cuidado, usando un trapo si quieres, para evitar salpicaduras. Arrancar 3 minutos con kit montado → ✅ Correcto Tiempo suficiente para que cualquier gas llegue al líquido. No necesitas más tiempo; más de 3–5 minutos puede aumentar riesgo de burbujeo falso por presión. Apagar el coche y retirar kit → ✅ Correcto Espera unos segundos si quieres que baje un poco la presión antes de retirar. Después de hacer esto el reactivo no cambió de color, culata en buen estado. Para asegurarme que el reactivo funciona lo puse en la salida del escape, no tardo ni veinte segundos y el reactivo cambio a un color amarillo.
