Installation was as easy as removing the old Hayward pump that the motor failed. Everything lined up perfectly and it is up and running in less than an hour. The unit has been running for awhile and unless I am next to it I don’t hear it, unit is very quiet. Pump has plenty of flow, enough to start a swirl in my 24 foot round pool., and the jet is strong enough to give me a good back massage. Very pleased with this purchase.

Works great, seems built more solid and a lot less expensive than name brand pumps

First impression is that this is a very well made pump. You open the well packaged box and can see this pump is not junk. I was shocked as priming this pump was instant; I filled with water, closed the lid, turned the power on and it worked. This replaced a Hayward PowerFlo that really was a pain to get primed. Motor is much quieter than the Hayward too. Lid is easy to open having nice tabs that make twisting easy. Most products these days are pretty much garbage (at least in my experience). This Doheny pump is a quality product. I hope it lasts. Final note, it comes with a standard US 3 prong plug. Check your local electrical code as you may need to replace wieh a locking type plug.

It worked fine for 20 days and then randomly started leaking a lot of water from the middle bottom of the unit. It is too much water to ignore, now i have to figure out if i totally pull it out and send it back, wait for refund, get a new pump and have to reinstall that pump... SUCH A PAIN! I should of never got a pool, simply due to the absolute madness dealing with these companies who make terrible products.

For those needing a side discharge as the Hayward powerflow Matrix pump. Look no further, there is no switch you have to remove the 4 internal bolts at the rear under the cap and rotate it 90 degree's and reattach. Super easy and saves a ton of money. No power switch but it's super quiet and just as powerful. I've purchased the Hayward before but not at today's prices. I was ready to call it quits for the pool as it's getting very old now but this will get me through till I say no more.

As the title states, 4 stars for a great running and quiet pump. Minus one star for the abnormal pump unions and difficulty of turning the pump sideways and correcting the strainer. Unsure if the strainer was made badly but you can’t take it off the pump. I had to shave down the plastic to get it to rotate 90 degrees back upright after rotating the pump to connect to the filter. You have to use the supplied glue on pipe unions. You can’t go to a pool supply shop and get different unions for this pump, they are an abnormal size, I’m guessing proprietary. I had to completely replumb my entire system for the new pump. Other pumps I’ve replaced have been drop in replacements with the standard union.

This pump works like it should. It's quieter than my last pump.
