Great product, if installed correctly.
I almost didn't purchase the adapter after reading some of the negative reviews. I believe some of them are based on their having incorrectly installed the adapter. One reviewer said that they were disappointed when it melted while gluing something to it. The slip connector is for installing hose or tubing that is connected with hose clamps, not for gluing fittings to it. Another reviewer said it should come with a friction washer, as the soft washer squished out while tightening the nut. First of all, they must have installed the rubber washer on the outside of the tank, where the nut goes. The washer is intended to be installed inside the tank, sandwiched between the smooth flanged end of the adapter and the tank. Then, when the nut is installed, the nut spins against the outside of the tank, not the washer, sealing the flange to the tank wall. The washer and the adapter is to remain stationary when tightening the nut. Plus, the soft washer seals nice when the sealing surface is not very smooth. Second, the washer is not designed to seal against the threads. It is designed to seal against the tank on the inside. Another person was concerned that it wouldn't seal against a round tank such as a barrel. In my application, I installed the adapter onto a 125 gallon rectangular plastic food grade water tank for my bus/RV conversion. The walls of the tank are flat, so I cannot speak to adapting to round barrels. When the bulkhead adapter arrived, I was very pleased to see the nice sharp threads, which prevents stripping. I installed the adapter to the tank after first removing the smaller one that I was replacing, which involved drilling a larger hole for the new one. The adapter installed very well. I filled the tank with about 100 gallons, then drove the bus around, causing the water to violently slosh around inside the tank. There were absolutely no leaks. I will highly recommend this product. Thank you.

It is what it is
If you are looking at this item, then you know what you need and you know what it does. This is a quality bulkhead. I achieved a seal on the first try. The thread is nice and clean, so the nut spins nicely (which is great if you are on your back looking up at the underside of a large tank.) Amazon sells them at a great price .... buy a spare! I find these hard to find locally and if you break one, you will be in a bind.

Does what is is supposed to do - well!
I have a few 55 gallon rain barrels and needed new fittings. Bulkhead connectors are impossible to find around here, so Amazon came in handy. In case you don't want to mess with pipe connectors, these with 3/4 hose connector will do the job.I was also looking at the Banjo 3/4" bulkhead connector (much sturdier and beefier), but the trick with the 3/4" Lifegard one is that it will fit through a bunghole so you do not needed to cut up a perfectly good barrel and can actually use a "closed" system (some desire that).I did a small modification (likely not needed, but...) in that since the flange sits on the inside of the barrel (rounded) and I was unsure how the gasket would seal against the slightly curved surface, I replace the gasket with a thick neoprene gasket (read; old wet suit). Works like a charm. Will try to add a few photo so the difference can be clearly visible. Now I only wish I'd thought about these a few years back, as I probably spent just as much on trying to build something (that really did not work) out of parts from the local home store. I looked a number of times at West Marine, but those bulkhead connectors were way to pricey and did not really fit the bill.

Its okay.
Alright quality. Don't tighten down to much or the plastic nut will break.
