It’s an interesting material. It looks like it has three layers sandwiched together. Top,layer is ultra thin leather although it doesn’t really smell like leather. The middle layer is some synthetic material that cuts well enough and actually adds flexibility to the material. The bottom has a distinct fabric pattern and is bonded to the middle layer. In some ways, it is superior to a veg tanned belly but it isn’t 100% leather. It certainly isn’t “full grain.” It stains well, is pliable, and glues well.

In do not very often leave a 5 star review but this leather purchase deserves it. I bought 2 pcs of the Muse Craft leather 5-6 0z, 12"x24" and its super nice. Smooth front and the back is not all knarly like some leather pieces. I make mostly knife sheaths and some of my knife sheaths the back side shows so it makes a difference. Nothing worse than buying a piece of leather and finding a hole, scar or a 6" brand on it. These smaller pieces are easier for me to handle and store in my extra small work room. I can buy sides etc but usually end up having to cut them into smaller pieces to store and handle which makes for waste. These work much better for me and delivery was quick!

The piece of Latigo leather I received is perfect. No scratches, no discoloration. It is exactly as described and will be great for my project. There may be a slight error in the description. It is described as "tooling" leather. Vegetable Tanned leather is used for tooling, Latigo is already dyed and finished and designed to be used as it is, soft and flexible. If you want to carve or tool the leather, order Vegetable Tanned leather.

I did NOT receive the weight I requested and what I did receive had FLAWS as in poor grade with surface imperfections that came out when dyed. DO NOT ORDER from this source!

Muse Craft Flawless Leather 12 x 24" is good leather to work with, it is very tough and cuts nicely with a clean edge. It is vegetable tanned, and can be dyed to any colour easily with a leather dye. This leather can have many uses, and this size is a good balance between area and cost.

Typically I purchase the same product from a well known leather store but will now only be ordering this. Free amazon shipping makes this much more cost effective. The quality of this leather is great. Highly recommend. Arrived almost a week early as well!
