This holster is by far the best holster I have ever owned. I have been carrying a handgun both for personal reasons and professional reasons for 30 years and have at least 40 holsters to go with my collection of firearms. I cannot recall ever being this impressed with a holster. This holster fits my Springfield Armory Trophy Match perfectly. I could not ask for a better fit. The holster is made out of thick leather that is form fitted to the weapon and requires no break in time. The holster holds the weapon close to the body and is extremely comfortable. Some have written that this holster is good or excellent for the price point. Let's be clear -- this holster is an outstanding piece of craftsmanship and is under priced based upon what the current market offers for approximately $50.00. Most other holsters on the market at this price point are made with thin, flimsy leather that in most cases barely holds the weapon well or they are half holsters not covering the entire body of the weapon. This is a stout holster and covers the entire body of the weapon and looks good doing it. This holster would be a great deal at twice the price. After my 1911, my second favorite weapon to carry is an N frame S&W 44 magnum and I am waiting for 1791 to produce a holster for this revolver so I can buy that one too. Based upon my experience with this holster, if you need a holster for your 1911, then this is the one to buy. You will not need another.

By far the best OWB holster for a full size 1911 I have tried. Fits my Rock Island 10mm like if was custom made . Not for 1911 with tac rail. Very well made with heavy duty leather and robust stitching. Barrel of 5 inch 1911 does not protrude out the bottom of holster so front site is protected and facilitates a fast , snag free draw. Their single stack OWB double mag pouch is a perfect match as well. Holds mags firmly in pouch with enough of the mag exposed for an easy grab for reload. Excellent products, excellent craftsmanship and I will definitely buy their products again. I hope the make a holster and mag pouch for my sig 226 because I'm definitely on board

Let me start off by saying, up until now recently experience with a side arm consisted of a Glock in a Black Hawk holster. Which is to say a polymer gun in a plastic holster. Further I prefer the paddle option for the Black Hawk. When, finally I decided to expand my horizons, I picked up the Springfield Armory Range Officer Elite Target, as a previous reviewer concluded, I couldn’t bring myself to put a full size 1911 with a steel frame into a plastic holster. I happened upon 1791, a company I had never heard of, so I did a little research on the company. I liked the company philosophy regarding civil rights, and the holsters seemed to be well reviewed, so I decided to go with them, and I’m very glad I did. When I first received the holster, I was surprised by how stiff it was, again that’s just me not being familiar with leather holsters. I was expecting something more malleable, like a baseball glove. I didn’t see how something so stiff could be comfortable to wear. It is however very comfortable. The level of comfort is even more surprising given the 41oz dry weight of the Range Officer. The holster holds the gun securely. Right out of the box it was a little snug, so I did the plastic shopping bag trick and that loosened it up just enough. The gun is held very close to the body. Something else I had to get used to. In my case it’s right against my middle age center handles, but from a concealment point of view it’s just what I would want. Granted a full size 1911 is not what anyone would consider a concealment pistol, if you are looking for a holder for a concealed carry arm the 1791 would do the trick. The quality and craftsmanship of the holster are top notch. I fully expect this holster to provide many years of service. In fact, I like the holster so much I subsequently purchased a dual magazine holster from 1791 to match the holster. I can highly recommend 1791 if you are looking for a top quality leather. As a bonus the price is very reasonable for the quality product you will be receiving.

I normally wear an Alien Gear holster IWB with my Glock 23, at least until recently. I am one of the lucky ones. My wife purchased me a Kimber 1911 last weekend for our Anniversary. I wanted a holster that was not plastic (I didn’t want scratches or wear and tear on this pistol). I also wanted a faster draw as well as something authentic looking. As a veteran and carry holder, I have always had plastic. So I googled leather holster. Then I searched for different designs and colors of the leather. Then I searched for top rating in stars. The 1791 Gunleather 1911 Holster was in every search. I ordered this product and it was here the next day with my Prime account. I was worried about my Kimber fitting after I saw the directions on what to do if the holster is too tight. It fit perfect. This is the best carry holster I’ve worn. It’s low profile. It is fitted in a perfect place for a fast draw. It’s tight enough to not worry about the firearm falling out but perfect for a draw. I am used to paddle holsters but I always wear a belt so it does take a second to put on your belt versus throwing a paddle over your belt. It is light and durable. There is awesome craftsmanship. There was even a leather key chain with 1791 on it. For my first leather holster I am a satisfied customer. I have already started recommending this holster.

The holster is very well made, looks amazing, and fits the 1911 quite snuggly. A definite bargain. Unfortunately I’ll be returning mine. Perhaps it’s just because of my smaller frame, but the holster is too wide and flat for me. When in the 3-3:30 position it partially blocks both front and back pockets, and it doesn’t stay on the side. At least not without having my belt painfully (more than just uncomfortably) tight. It keeps drifting my whole belt rightward until the holster is at 4:30-5:00. Because of how wide it is I can’t get a good enough form fit for it to stay put. Shouldn’t be a problem if you have more of a circular waist, rather than an ovular one.

I love this holster and is a work of art as are most of the 1791 holsters. I have about six of them and numerous magazine holsters. If you follow the instructions and use the freezer bag to insert it, it will fit perfectly. I generally will coat the Holster with a light coat of mnk oil or mink oil paste on the outside and on the inside slightly, heavier where it will contact your skin and where you will generally sweat and I’ve had good luck with all my Leather. The fit is fantastic. The leather is heavy duty stitching and overall it’s a beautiful work of art. I love this holster. It fits my Kimber Tactical pro 2, Colt series 70 Gold cup perfectly.

Ordered the holster and mag carrier in vintage color for my Commander. Holster will fit a full-size 1911 so with my commander there is about 3/4 to an inch of holster past the end of the slide. No big deal since I also have a Govt size 1911 as well, now this same holster will fit both. Vintage color is pretty nice...mix of brown with some black. The leather is really thick and shaped for the gun already. Both pistol and magazines fit tight so there is going to be a break in period. Like others said...you could put a plastic bag around the gun and leave it inserted for a couple of days to stretch the leather but to me it's not too bad so I'm already carrying it all day. I'm sure in about a week or so it will be worked in and everything will slip in and out nicely while retaining the weapon and mags. Comfortable holster...got tired of kydex so going to start going back to leather on all my carry guns. If you shop around most holsters of this quality are pretty expensive so props to 1791 for being able to provide a quality leather holster at this price point. If I need another one I would not hesitate to order from them again and I probably will. Thinking about getting the matching belt next. Oh, one more thing to note...on both of my orders I got a really nice leather key chain that was included so that was cool of them to do that. I literally have no complaints.

I received this holster in great condition and it was just a tiny bit too tight. I put my empty 1911 in a plastic freezer bag like the instructions said, wiggled a little, then removed it from the holster and bag. That's all it took to have the perfect fit! I appreciated that it was too tight at first. Then I could make the adjustment to how tight or loose I wanted it to be. Right now it holds my full size Colt tight enough to not fall out but easy to pull when I need it. I ordered the Classic Brown color and it came exactly how I expected it to be. I appreciate that they also have a small section of leather that protects the thumb safety when I carry concealed so it doesn't rub on my skin. The holster itself is heavy duty and well-constructed in the U.S. It's a little stiffer than other manufacturers and still is minimal enough to wear OWB with a T-shirt over it for concealed carry if you want. The opening stays open for easy one-handed re-holstering too. The company supports Military and first responders, and I love that too. Thanks for making such a great product 1791 Gunleather.
