I've been doing perler bead art for years and finally broke down and bought one of these. This purchase exceeded my expectations and works SO well I ordered 6 of them for me and my kid to share. You shake the beads to get them in the chute but then it dispenses so easily. Definitely a must have if you're doing bead art.

I've been making 8-bit Perler Bead coasters and magnets of my favorite Nintendo characters for about a year now. I enjoy creating them and love the finished products. The biggest issue I have is that many of them are fairly time consuming to make, whether you use your fingers or tweezers. A few weeks ago I mentioned to my girlfriend that it would be amazing if they made some sort of Perler pen to quickly dispense beads instead of doing them each by hand. Oddly enough, I stumbled upon this pen last week and bought it immediately. I must say, I had very high hopes for this tool. In theory, it would cut down creation time by a considerable amount. However, in my experience it just couldn't get the job done as I had hoped. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: - The pen is fairly wide, which makes it easy to grip for almost anyone - Button to dispense beads is large and easy to press - Twist top to load beads functions very well - There is a small bump at the mouth of the pen which is convenient for flipping any sideways beads up - The cost is reasonable - Decent for doing outlines Cons: - Not capable of holding a very large number of beads - You have to shake the pen fairly often to get the beads into the dispensing chamber (this is even one of the steps on the package) - The tip of the pen is a good bit larger than the beads, meaning it's not easy to get the beads to fall straight up onto your Perler board as you would like - Not good for filling in tight spaces I wouldn't call this pen a success nor a failure; however, I can't necessarily recommend it either. It leaves lot to be desired, in my opinion. If the mouth of the pen was made as small as possible to dispense the beads I think it would be much more accurate and therefore usable in any instance, rather than just outlining. I also don't see a reason why it isn't designed to hold at least twice as many beads. I think if these small adjustments were made this product could easily be a four to five star item and a must have for Perler Bead enthusiasts.

Tweezers are my 2nd most used craft item with the first obviously being scissors - I've been using a pair of chemist bought tweezers for years now as they were nice & fine for most of the work I do in card making, but then I took up jewellery making and found myself many times struggling against my severe hand arthritis to pick the likes of small beads up. So when I spotted these at such a great price I figured them worth trying out and can happily say they're rapidly becoming my go-to pair. What I particularly like with them is the lighter amount of pressure required to close them - with my right hand so badly clawed it's long been more difficult to use the ordinary tweezers because I don't have the strength in my first 2 fingers to easily do so. Whether it's because these are thinner or longer I'm unsure but regardless, they're much easier to manage which is wonderful. So glad I found them!
